i wanna see inglourious basterds when it comes out. this is what it says on the website for the theater i wanna go to: R Restricted -- Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Signifies that the rating board has concluded that the film rated may contain some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their children to see it. An R may be assigned due to, among other things, a film's use of language, theme, violence, sex or its portrayal of drug use. according to this, should my sister be able to take me to see the movie?
Since i'm 18, can i take my 16-year-old sister and her friends to an r rated movie legally?
Sure...my friend's older brother used to buy our tickets and shove us in the door...never a problem.

The actual regulation is that you have to be 21 if she is under 17. So, technically no. It is rarely enforced, however, so if you really want to see the film, just buy the tickets and see what happens. If it's at a multiplex, you can buy tickets to a different film and just go to that one. This is a regulation from the MPAA, by the way. It is not a law. You are not doing anything illegal by disrespecting it.

Another reason is nudity, which is the one really concerning point for a 16 year old watching R rated movies and when the maturity aspect of it comes in. For a movie to be rated R for nudity it, first of all its actually showing stuff, not like in PG-13 movies where everyones junk is covered but its implied they are naked. Also, it is going to be a reoccurring thing and/or in a sexual nature. So, it is really up to the parents to decide there, if you are ok with it and think your 16 year old is mature enough, sure, if not, nobody blames you, just choose a different movie or fast forward through the naked stuff.In the end, there are different movies which are rated R for different reasons, I saw saving Private Ryan and the benchwarmers (which I believe is rated R for the type of humor and language) all before I was 15, saving privet Ryan before I was 14 actually, But still have not seen nor want to see Fifty Shades of Grey and I am 17, so yeah, there are different types of R rated movies and its really up to the parents/the maturity of the kid.

no, the person has to be over 21 in order to buy you the ticket. Me and my brother went once and he is 17 and im 15 and since im a "minor" you have to be 21 to buy tickets for people that are under 17.

Under 17 requires a "parent or adult guardian" but that is kind of vague. What exactly is an "adult guardian" and how old do they have to be. One person said 21, but I never heard that before.
