EUGENE: (1) What would we be doing if the sun was not shining?

SERGIO: Well, we would not be lying here for a start. But that's not the important question. The important question is: (3)what would we do if we were rich?

EUGENE: (4) If we were rich, we could travel everywhere.

SERGIO: True, but we travel everywhere already.

EUGENE: Yes, but not in style.(5) If we had money, our chauffeur, James, could drive us round in our Rolls. Imagine,(6) if we were in that position!(7) We could return to our fine mansion in the country.

SERGIO: Yes, the butler (8) would put out fresh clothes for us, the cook would prepare a fine meal for us. We (9) would not just be eating carrots all the time.

EUGENE: Yes, If (10) we owned a house like that, we would also have a fine swimming pool.

SERGIO: Yes! Yes! If(11) we had a fine swimming pool, we could swim as much as we liked.

EUGENE: If (12) we were really really rich, we could lie in the sun!

Can someone check my English/Vocabulary homework?

I did everything, but I want to make sure they're right. I have to fill in the words for each sentence and say wat parts of speech it is. There are four parts and each part has five words. The first part words are:
lethargic, prevalent, paramount, remiss, hostile.
Here are the sentences and my answers:
1. The audience became extremely HOSTILE when the bigot began to attack the minority groups. ADJ
2. Long hair among boys is so PREVALENT today, there is no longer a prohibition against it in most schools. ADJ
3.We are all susceptible to a LETHARGIC feeling after a heavy meal. ADJ
4. A good politician seeks the PARAMOUNT issue in his community. ADJ
5. Parents are often REMISS in not warning their children of the dangers of cigarette smoking. ADJ

There's more, but I can't fit it here so I'll make another question. Please tell me if I put the right words in the right place and the parts of speech is right. Thank you!

Can somebody help me find the tension in this string?

Your friend is right. Your version is inaccurate. Let's go over the steps to be clear:Use energy conservation to find [math]v = \sqrt{2 g L |\cos\theta_2 - \cos\theta_1|}[/math] (note: we only care about the change in height, and I just used absolute values to make it positive).Realize that we dealing with circular motion: centripetal force is involved.Draw your free-body diagram:At this point, we need to say "hey! we need to pick our axes." There's two ways (you and your friend). The first way is the standard [math]x,y[/math]-axes which are parallel and perpendicular to the gravitational force here (you). The other way is the centripetal axes parallel and perpendicular to the motion here (your friend).Perpendicular and Tangential[math]\sum F_\perp = m a_c = T - m g \cos\theta[/math][math]\sum F_\parallel = m a_\parallel = m g \sin\theta[/math]Standard Axes[math]\sum F_x = m a_x = T \sin\theta - m a_c \sin\theta[/math][math]\sum F_y = m a_y = T \cos\theta - mg - m a_c \cos\theta[/math]where[math]a_x = a_\parallel \cos\theta \qquad a_y = a_\parallel \sin\theta[/math]As you can see, your friend is right. You might be wondering why there's an acceleration parallel to the motion. Remember that while centripetal motion affects the velocity of the mass - it only changes direction and does no work. In order for the mass to be speeding up along its' circular path, there must be acceleration along the direction of motion. In this case, it is gravity.
