Completely Uninstall Opendns From My Router

How do I get rid of opendns problem?

I just got a new lenovo laptop. I set it up to my wireless router, but many of the websites I am trying to visit get blocked by opendns. As far as I can tell it is not installed on my computer. I do not see anything running in the task manager, and there is nothing in the programs list. I tried to go to the internet properties and I found that "obtain dns settings automatically" was already selected. I am running windows 7, and I have a NetGear router. I haven't used the wireless for computing until now, but my other computer has been hard wired to the router for months running windows xp with no problems whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated.

How do i permanently block roblox from being used on my computers?

If you need to block a few specific websites then I would just modify the hosts file.

Navigate to the following path in the Explorer Window: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
You are going to be opening up the following file with Notepad: Hosts

First, back-up your Hosts file in another secured directory.

The Hosts file probably has the Read-Only attribute so you cannot edit the Hosts file. To fix this, right click on the Hosts file, click Properties and uncheck Read-Only.

Add this line underneath all the others:
127.0.0.1 (tab) "website name"

Obviously, substitute (tab) with the Tab key on your keyboard and the "website name" with the website you are trying to block (without quotes).

For example:
127.0.0.1 roblox.com
127.0.0.1 google.com
127.0.0.1 reddit.com

Save the file and make sure you don’t save it in txt extension but choose all files. Exit notepad and make sure you check read-only attribute again in properties. Make sure you have cleared your browser history or flush the DNS cache otherwise you will still see the blocked site.

127.0.0.1 refers to the localhost which refers to your computer. Basically, you are pointing each of the blocked websites to your computer. Since your computer does not know what to do with the request, it drops it.

This is the simplist way to block a site. Otherwise you are looking at getting content filtering services (such as NetNanny or OpenDNS).

How do i get rid of this stupid opendns?

Haha, OpenDNS is not an invasion of privacy, but a great filtering tool.
It can filter malware, phishing and other internet scams, and things that may be deemed innapropriate.

I have no clue why it would be on your router unless someone specifically put it there to keep you off online poker, but here's how to remove it.

You need to access your router's control panel. Chances are you have a Linksys, so here is a step by step with pictures: https://store.opendns.com/setup/device/l...
That guide just shows you how to get there, DON'T put those numbers in. Those are the addresses for OpenDNS. To get rid of OpenDNS, just put a 0 in each of those boxes.

OpenDNS Still Present After Changing My DNS?

OpenDNS is a bad DNS server and it slows down my internet and blocks things that don't even feature adult content. It's annoying. So I changed my DNS to Google's DNS Servers yet OpenDNS is still present...
IPv6 and IPv4 were both changed to Google's DNS servers.
How can I remove this?

How to bypass OpenDNS's "Family Shield"?

So I'm back from college and lo and behold, conservative parents have put up internet blocks on nearly everything from "Bikinis" to P2P sharing (from legit sites mind you), to Proxy/Anonymizer sites, among many, many, many other categories. So much so that I feel like I'm living in North Korea or something.

I've tried what everyone seems to say to do: changing your DNS to Google's public 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 ones. However whenever I try, the internet just doesn't work anymore. After trying to load a page for a while, it says "This webpage is not available". I follow the instructions to the dot. I don't get what's going wrong.

I'd just like to point out, though, that I don't know much about DNS or routers or any of that. And my dad is super tech savvy. Also, I'm using a Mac. If anyone can help, pleeaassee save a girl's life here.
