Cvs/pharmacy Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician?

Hello. This is a VERY good field to look into. It really doesnt take that long to get certified it just depends on how they teach or where you go to determine how long it will take you to finish. You have 2 options:

1. CVS, that is where I worked and i became Certifiied Pharmacy Technician. I am still there now. I enjoy it. It is a great opportunity to work because you have alot of options like. You start off As a PSA.

Pharmacy Service Associate (PSA)

This is an entry-level role. The primary focus for a PSA is on customer service. Responsibilities within the position include: Ringing out prescriptions, answering telephones, and Pharmacist referrals. The role of the PSA is important because he/she is often the first person with whom the customer comes into contact. The impression that the PSA gives the customer may determine the outcome of that customer's experience at CVS/pharmacy.

Pharmacy Technician

This is a second level position that builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the PSA. The role of the Technician is focused on customer service and prescription order processing, as well as problem resolution and inventory management. The role of the Technician is important because he/she helps to ensure that the right customer receives the right prescription, every time.

Pharmacy Lead Technician

This is a third-level position that builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the Tech. The role of the Pharmacy Lead Technician includes more focus on mentoring and guiding support staff members in team development. The Lead Technician is important because he or she serves as a role model for for other Pharmacy Support Staff, and supports the Pharmacist.

You can also call your local cvs, and talk with the lead manager or the pharmacist in charge.

2. You can go to a community college and alot of them have started classes where you go for 6-8 weeks and it helps you prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Exam. My friend done that and she passed. They meet for like 4-5 hours 3 or 2 times a week

Good Luck

CVS Pharmacy Technician?

While experience/being CPhT certified would help your chances of getting a job as a Pharmacy Tech, it is not required. We have hired many people without experience. If you do get hired, I would definitely study for the test (CVS will pay for you to take the test after you've worked for 6 months). Once you are certified, you will get a raise, and be eligible for promotion to Senior Tech.

The training you received on the job will mostly be on CVS guidelines (ie their computer system, workflow, filling, etc), but by default you WILL learn to be a Pharmacy Tech. You will get to know the brand vs generic names, you will learn all the measurements and calculations. You will still have to study for the test, as you won't learn EVERYTHING. Good luck.

CVS Pharmacy Technician Job?

I just recently quit my job at a local supermarket as a cashier and I've been thinking about applying for a job at CVS as a Pharmacist Tech.

Im only in my first year of college and Ive taken College chemistry courses in High school.
Is it possible for me to get hired at that job with just a HS Diploma? Or do I have to take a class to become a Pharmacist Tech to be certified?

If so, what do you think is the starting pay?
and what exactly does a pharmacist tech do? I know they file prescriptions, take calls....etc.

CVS cashier to pharmacy technician?

I just got hired at CVS as a cashier, but I would rather prefer to be a pharmacy technician. Does anybody know how long I should wait to see if I could transfer to the pharmacy department and how I would be able to do this?

What is the dress code for CVS Pharmacy Technician?

the best way to find out is go to cvs tomorrow and look at how they dress. You can get all the replies you want, but no better answer than looking.

What to expect in a CVS Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician Interview?

I just got a call of a lifetime yesterday! After years of applying and applying to be a pharmacy tech, they decided to call me in for an interview. I want this job so bad!!! I am currently working on my associates degree in pharmacy and planning to transfer to the UF Pharmaceutical school and eventually work my way up to being a pharmacist. I'm not pharmacy tech certified yet so I think working at CVS will really help me get my foot in the door! What can I expect from an interview so I can prepare. What was your hiring process like? This is also my first interview I've had in about a year and a half and I've only had a couple of them in my life. I dont think im that great at interviews either because 2 out of 4 interviews ive had, i didnt get the job. Any advice for interview tips or "stage fright"? I apologize for all the questions haha I just REALLY want this job and dont want to screw it up in the interview. Also all of my interviews were entry level positions like cashier or camp counselor so this is new to me.
