Deciding To Get An Albino Pleco

Pleco with demasoni ????

Generally plecos due just fine with even the most aggressive cichlids which is what you have. I would get a larger pleco though just in case your demasoni do decide to nip at it a little bit. Of course there is really only one way to find out. Throw that puppy in there and see what happens. I have always kept bristlenose plecos in my cichlid tanks including with demasoni.

I have an Albino Placasamus?

Try this page for info on Plecostomus.

There are several species that are available as albinos, but chances are it's an albino version of one of the "common' species. It amy be something like this: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=88

They generally grow BIG, like 12"+. They need to be fed algae wafers and fresh veges, with a bit of higher protien food as well. You WILL need a gravel vac as they are Poop machines.

Good luck

In my aquarium can i have more than one pleco??

Yes, you can get more plecos. The king tiger (which maxes out at about 6") is one of the least agressive plecos. Only males will get feisty and territorial. In a 40, you should have no problems with them hurting each other. I have 3 males in a 20 and they have no issues other than minor pushes as they eat their pellets. One of the prettier species is the queen arabesque (about 4"). They are colored similarly to the tigers, but with more white. They are also one of the smaller species as is your king tiger.

I, personally, like the bushy nosed plecs and have both albino and standard browns. They both spawn regularly for me in 20 gallon and smaller tanks. The only time they come together is at feeding time and no damage is done.

If you decide to stick with one species like the king tiger, they will spawn in the aquarium (the queen arabesques have not been spawned by hobbyists yet, all are wild caught) if given a dark cave to hide in. A good starting group is around 6, which will generally assure you of having at least one or two pairs.

If you get them spawning regularly, you can make some money selling them to other aquarists through local fish clubs or at their auctions. Sometimes stores will give you store credit for them also.

Can i keep a bristlenose pleco in a 10 gal tank?

Although the bristlenose is a smaller breed, they can still get larger than you might expect - a well fed fish will thrive and often outgrow expectations :)

Don't put a pleco in a 10 gallon tank - the size of the tank will not restrict its growth and you can never know that a fish that "shouldn't" get over 6" won't. The 1 inch per gallon rule also doesn't apply to fish who, well to put it plainly, are poo factories, which plecos are. Your substrate also subtracts about 2 gallons of water (minimum) from your water measurement so you're looking at an 8 gallon tank when it comes to placing your fish, not 10 gallons :)

Plecos need to be in a well planted tank as well, which cuts down on the available space for them to move around in, thus also reducing the 1" rule.

Hope that helps you decide :)

Plecostomus in tank with oscars...?

All Oscars are different in personality... and what they'll accept in THEIR tank, and what they won't.
Size doesn't matter to a territorial Oscar.... and an Oscar that will attack one Plec will attack another.
Oscars can be territorial (not aggressive)... adding a new fish of any type into their established territory can provoke some behavior.

Plecs can sometimes provoke an attack.... if a Plec (depends on species) has been kept separate from other fish it will sometimes attempt to feed on the slimecoat of other fish while they sleep. Fish that can retaliate (like an Oscar) will retaliate. Some Plec are territorial also,so maybe a "turf war".

If you decide to attempt another Plec with the Oscars, remove them from the tank and rearrange the decor to break up the territories. Then introduce all fish at once. That is the best way to introduce any territorial fish to other potentially territorial fish.

Common Plec.... right? Territorial and a slimecoat feeder given the chance.

Help planning my dwarf cichlid community tank! I don't want to pair my cichlids because I don't want fry; is this bad?

I have 1 blue ram, 1 electric blue ram, 1 kribensis, and 1 apistogramma viejita red neck in my 20 gallon now. I want to upgrade and add 2 or 3 other dwarf cichlids and schooling fish to make the tank look more alive. I was thinking about adding:
-5 Bosemani Rainbows
-6 Denison's barbs
-9 tiger barbs (3 albino, 3 green, 3 reg.)
-10 Harlequin Rasboras ( for that tight school)

I would also like to add 5 kuhli loaches, and a long fin albino bristlenose pleco

I want to make it a planted tank and use rocks to create "natural" caves. I'm still deciding whether or not I want black or white sand. Questions I have:

What kind of plants would go best? (looking for easier plants to care for, but some extra color would be nice)
what lighting do I need? I like the blue night lights so those are a must; which ones are best for the fish and plants?
Is there any additional equipment I should buy besides the heater, filtration and air pumps?
Is 1 decent sized canister filter better than 2 power filters?
Is there any filtration system that would be better?
75 gallon or 120; or is even that too small? (pretty much asking for a tank size recommendation)
Will my fish selection make good tank mates? (is everybody gonna get along?)
are there other schooling fish that would make better tank mates? ( I like color and uniqueness)

I know I have a lot of questions so any input will be greatly appreciated and Thank you for your input ahead of time.

What kind of live plants can i use in a south american cichlid tank?

i am new to cichlids and am just wondering if there are any live plants i can use in my 600ltr set up, i have 1 albino oscar, blood parrot, convict, severum, synodontis albino pleco and 2 black plecos, i have also put my large bala shark in with them and they are all doing well so far just want to plant it out a bit and every site says can only use java fern ???

Stocking ideas for a 75 gallon fish aquarium?

I am getting a 75 gallon aquarium and I would like to have some ideas for stocking my tank I want some small grouping fish (not neons or glow light tetras) along with some larger fish that will get around 5 inches or so I want bright colors along with solid colors and I need help deciding between plecos or snails and also plastic plants or live plants

Should i get an oscar, or a frontosa Cichlid?

I have owned an oscar before, but i kind of want to try an african cichlid, and i have read that you can't put these two fish together so i don't know which one to choose.....also if i get a frontosa will it get along with my other fish: Columbian shark, brown knife, pleco, elephant nose, iridescent catfish, a big golfball looking goldfish, and dojo loach
