Dental Implants Help Me Answer These Questions. Anyone With This Knowledge And/or With Experience

How long after dental implant can I smoke cigarettes and/or weed?

Hello, I am at the stage where they put in the screw thing into my gums. I currently have stitches and I guess I have to go in to take them off and then wait for it to heal and then they're going to put another thing that sticks out of my gums and put in a temporary crown. I was wondering when I could start smoking, the dentist said the first 2 weeks are critical and that just passed but I've been reading things from other sources saying a month or so.

Also, does smoking apply to marijuana smoking?
Also, do they mean smoking as in its bad to have smoke in my mouth, or is it bad to have nicotine in my system?

Thanks

Dental bridge or dental implant. Which is the best for me?

Dental Implants vs Dental BridgeIf you have a missing tooth or damaged tooth, then you might be worrying about which treatment you should go between dental bridge and dental implants. Here I will list out the pros and cons of both treatments so that you can make a wise decision on this same.Dental Implants:Dental Implant is an important major surgery in which missing tooth is replaced with an artificial tooth which will work as a natural tooth. In this procedure, the titanium metal post is inserted into the jawbone which will fuse with the gum and this process is known as osseointegration. This is a bit time-consuming process but it gives lifetime value.Pros:Easy MaintenanceLong time stableAesthetic look (Look like a natural tooth)Cost effect in the longer periodNo damage to the adjacent toothEasy to chew the foodGives confidenceCons:The initial cost of surgery is highIt is a long time process (6-8 months)Need to visit dentist 2-3 times during the surgeryPatient jawbone should be strong and strengthenDental Bridge:Dental bridge treatment is in practice since 30-40 years and this treatment can give short time solutions in some cases it is good if you care them very gently. In dental bridge treatment, the missing tooth will be covered by an artificial tooth with the support of adjacent tooth.Pros:Initial cost is minimumShort time surgeryYou may require a single visit to the dentistNo need to have strengthened jawboneCan be done on all types of teethCons:Need to modify adjacent toothNeed to control pressure on bridge toothCare and maintenance is required continuouslyMay need to replace after a few yearsI hope the above differences will help you to understand a little bit on which type of treatment is suitable for you. If you are the patient to undergo dental treatment then it is highly recommended to consult a well-experienced dentist to discuss on more about the procedure. We at “Implants Guru” dental practice in Rancho Mirage, California, will provide dental implant treatment and other dental related treatments with by highly experienced dentists. Dental implants cost estimate?

I'm really hoping to get an estimate from a dentist, my teeth haven't fallen out, but they are in bad enough condition to where they might not be fixable (they seem to be rotting from the inside out.)

I was wondering, because I'm still young (almost 21) I shouldn't have lost any bone mass or anything like that, I don't smoke. I'm just wondering how much it would also cost to have my existing teeth pulled. I have them all, so that's 32 teeth that I would need pulled.

Why does the dental implant process take so long? What does one do during the interval?

a dental implant total costs about 3000/tooth.
you have the tooth pulled, a titanium screw is placed, you are allowed to heal for 6-8wks. after that you will go in to your normal dentist or a prostodontist to have the implant area fitted with an implant supported crown. this involves impressions and then going back two- three weeks later to have the crown cemented on. it shouldn't take 18 months unless you are needing to have a couple bone grafts.
in the mean time, you can have a flipper made to replace the missing teeth (like if it's a front tooth) or just go w/out a tooth in the back.
and by the way, an implant is WAY more predictable than a bridge. if the bridge fails you have to have 2 more teeth pulled or totally lose the bridge. implants never get decay around the edges like a bridge could. implants are forever, bridges are made to last like 15 yrs or a little more, only if you take care of it.

Is it possible to wear a retainer after having dental implants or gum grafts?

It didn't occur to me to ask this question when I was at the dentist the other day, because I simply couldn't remember to ask everything. I had a ton of questions for him already, and I went for my initial consultation, x-rays, etc. I was deemed a candidate for 2 years of Invisalign. My dentist's current treatment plan has me getting a few dental implants after the Invisalign has moved some of my teeth around, in order to have more space for implants, where I have missing teeth that never existed. I have some considerable gum recession, but he also said that could wait until I was done with Invisalign. I know that he is the one I need to ask this, but until I go back again, I figure it's worth a shot on here just to get a general idea.

I know the process of implants and also the process of gum grafts (I need a few in various areas). When I'm done with my Invisalign, I'll have to wear a retainer. I'm going to try to get one similar to the Invisalign trays...I think it's technically called an Essix retainer? Can I get dental implants and gum grafts (obviously not at the same time, together) and still be able to wear my retainer on top of them, in order to keep my teeth from moving back?
