Do I Have Constipation What Can I Do

Can constipation cause anxiety?

In my own experience, constipation and anxiety is connected. I don’t know which came first, the chicken or the egg but I’ll give a brief summary. When I was younger, I was shy around certain people or when doing certain things( being on stage alone for a solo, pageant) things like standing up and saying my name with an interesting fact made me so nervous. I had a nervous stomach and worried about going #2 in public. Fast forward to age 15-,I was diagnosed with social anxiety and IBS-D. Fast forward again to age 25-, I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks, ADHD, IBS-C. In conclusion my digestive tract upsets are very connected to my psychological states in my opinion. I notice anxiety peeking when I’m constipated and feel relief of my anxiety when I finally can “go”. I’ve learned more about the enteric nervous system lately and recommend you read on that too. I am having some tests done soon about my chronic constipstion because it’s honestly ruing my quality of life. I would take my old IBS-d back in a hot second over this constipation. Better though would to have it regulated because I feel that’s going to be the ticket to my anxiety staying in check. I know I didn’t answer your question but hope my timeline of symptoms gives you some insight. I also hope it helps to know you aren’t alone and the struggle is REAL!

Cipro causing constipation what to do?

One of the known side effects of antibiotics is constipation. It is in the pamphlet that comes with the prescription. That's some of the information most people don't read and usually throw away. Did you decline to be counseled by the pharmacist? That should have been mentioned.

What can you do? Prunes 7 to 10 will get you moving pretty fast. You should be taking a fiber supplement, drinking plenty of water and exercising for 30 minutes per day to keep everything moving. I found that several times, in spite of everything I was doing to correct it the damage was done. I don't take oral laxatives as they can and do lead to laxative dependence. In those cases, I found a 1 quart warm water enema provided relief in a matter of minutes.

What does constipation have to do with depression?

It has a lot to do with it. I used to be depressed all the time, until I found out about the following: One thing depression specialists do not tell you is that, when you're feeling depressed, it's important to drink a lot of water. Water "clears your mind" so to speak. When you don't drink enough water it can cause you to be frequently depressed, nervous, tense or impatient. Lack of water is a main factor in harboring negative thoughts. People who don't drink enough water also tend to have digestive problems - constipation being one of them. Also diarrhea and stomach cramps. Now I no longer have digestive problems or depression, simply by making sure I drink enough water everyday. Hope this answers your question. Good Luck.
