I hate to say it, but a lot of younger stylists (myself included) have a minimum of experience with classic cuts, such as the wedge and the shag. Not having experienced a trend when it was most popular can be a huge disadvantage, and many newer stylists tend to pick up the latest versions of haircut styles, without a true understanding of the original cut or it's later adaptations. I recommend finding a quality stylist with a history of working in the hairstyling profession, and bringing a picture of the exact cut you want. Chances are, they will be able to deliver the cut you are looking for (and hopefully, a younger stylist such as myself will be there to witness it and learn something "new".) Good luck!

I looked like a boy, and with all my guy dresses (I din't have frocks, legend has it that I hated frocks), no wonder the neighbours thought I was a boy, for a couple of years.My granny and the other older folks detested it. But my mom was firm, because she knew I couldn't maintain it, and since there were many children, schools are the best breeding ground for lice,etc.So Was there pressure?Yes.Family, friends everyone teased me. Labelled me as a boy, with my brave and no-fuck-giving attitude.Then I grew up, and when I was sure I could maintain it, I started growing my hair. Some places just have a single charge for all haircuts. So it doesn't matter if you get bangs, or don't get bangs. Maybe you should get a referral from a friend, that way you don't have to experiment with your hair! The stylist may make a big mistake like cut off more hair than you wanted, and you could still be paying $60 for it.

I'm wanting to get a haircut, going from a boring old long layered style to a short knife cut edges with a dramatic look. Not wanting to color my hair in anyway, just a new haircut. I hear people getting their at Tony&Guys at the mall. I wanted to give Visible Changes a try. But I'm thinking they might be too expensive?
