For A Dual Power Supply Show The Necessary Connection To Obtain -5v And -8v With Respect To A

Does speaker need to have power supply?

Speakers generally need to be powered by an amplifer to work.
If the amplifier is built in (called "powered" or "active" speakers; the kind desktop computer systems use), they need a power supply for their built-in amplifiers. If the amplifer is not built-in (sometimes called "passive" speakers to distinguish them), then that external amplifer has the power supply.

I say speakers "generally" need to have an amplifier to work, because there are some extremely efficient little passive speakers designed to work directly from just a line or headphone level signal from an MP3 player. These sound awful (they're not very loud and have practially no bass) but they do exist. Perhaps that is the kind of speaker without a power supply that you have that works on the DVD player.

If you hook up that 8 ohm 50 watt speaker to a line or headphone level output and put it right up to your ear, it should work like a headphone element (it won't be loud, but you should hear some sound if it's right up to your ear). But to get any volume out of that speaker, you will need an amplifer or stereo receiver between the DVD player and it.

Pinout on power connection for a Dell 2001fp Monitor?

Silly Dell and their custom connections. Sorta looks like a 4 pin DIN 270 connector. There are only 2 wires in the cord of the adapter, the shield/ground and a +20vdc. Just hook up the +20vdc to the 1st pin clockwise from locator. (pin 1 on a 4 pin DIN 270 connector, see http://pinouts.ru/connector/4_pin_DIN_270_female_connector.shtml ) Then the ground goes to the outside shield. That's all you need.

Can I Power a Single Supply Op Amp (LM358) with a Dual Power Supply (two 9V batteries for example)?

Hello, I am making an EEG circuit powered by two 9V Batteries. I intended on using multiple LM358 op amps in this circuit, but the LM358 does not have a -Vcc pin since it is a single supply op amp. Instead it has a GND pin instead (refer to pinout picture provided (on the left)).

In order to use two 9V batteries with the LM358, would I be able to connect the negative terminal of one of the 9V batteries to the GND pin of the LM358 and the positive terminal of the other 9V battery to +Vcc?

If not what dual supply op amps will work for two 9V batteries? For instance, could a LF411 or LM741 do the job?

I am a novice in circuitry so I appreciate any input, thanks.

Why does the Cisco 3850 Switch need Redundant Power supply?

Not only 3850 switches need redundant power supply, but also other machines. One advanced feature available on high-end machines (especially servers) but also available to the general public for those willing to pay for it, is a redundant power supply. In essence, this is a power supply that actually includes two (or more) units within it, each of which is capable of powering the entire system by itself. If for some reason there is a failure in one of the units, the other one will seamlessly take over to prevent the loss of power to the PC. You can usually even replace the damaged unit without taking the machine down. This is called hot swapping, and is an essential productivity backup for use in servers and other machines used by a number of people.Obviously, this sort of option isn't for everyone, and these units are not cheap. After all, for starters you have (at least) two full power supplies in there! But if you need the security and can afford it, it may make sense for you. Certainly, this sort of feature is a good complement for an uninterruptible power supply--a UPS provides insurance against the power provided to the system going out, and a redundant supply provides insurance against the power within the system going out.Redundant power supplies are commonly used in conjunction with RAID arrays in systems requiring a high degree of fault tolerance. In 3850 switch, there are dual power supplies, or we call them redundant power supplies on the back panel of the switch.See this figure, the number ⑦ includ two power supplies.Dual AC or even DC power supply, will mean that if one of the supplies fails the device we keep operating. It’s the function of redundant power supply. In this case it is fairly normal practice to connect each supply to a PDU's connected to different power Circuit.image source: Catalyst 3850 Switch 24 Port

A dual voltage/dual resistance AC hair dryer can be used with a 120 V or 230 V power supply....?

A switch allows the user to set the voltage (and hence the resistance) to the appropriate value. A tourist takes her 1630 W dual voltage hair dryer to Europe. She forgets to set the switch to 230 V. What power does the hair dryer consume before it starts to smoke?

What is negative power supply?

Hi...The answer will be long, pardon me...Suppose you are going to make a building. You want to lift something from the ground to a particular height. Here you need a crane.Suppose this is the crane you want to operate and want to lift something from the ground. This crane has maximum 10 tons load capacity. You are the crane driver. fair enough? You started lifting, suddenly you met a problem. You couldn't see the height from the crane window. You couldn't make it alone. So you need one more person who direct you about the height and movements. This is where a radio man comes to the work. He directed you and you lifted the thing to the particular height depending on the requirements. No complexity, clear one, easy job. This what actually op amp do. Now replace the crane with a op amp, replace the ground with input, the heavy thing with input signal, the height with Amplitude and the other radio man with feedback resistors who directing you... And the final point where the heavy thing is lifted is the out-put or end result. Now just think, depending on the crane driver and radio man you could do anything like comparing height to making it lower. But what if you, the crane driver only knows about lifting things in only upward direction not downward? So you need to be good enough for lifting things up to the down. You are the powersource or power supply of the crane or op-amp who provide up or posetive supply and down or negetive supply. You can feed thre types of signals in op-amp.1.posetive dc supply input2. negetive dc supply input3. ac supply input, this can be an audio signal, square wave, sine wave, triangular wave any thing that changes it's polarity at a sequencial time or frequency.to amplify the first type of signal you need to provide posetive power supply source to the op-amp.but to amplify the second type of signal you need a negetive power supply souce.and for the third one you need both posetive and negetive supply source. just same as like a crane which is capable to lift things up and down and a driver who is perfect for the job.Regards,SaV

What would happen if I connect the positive terminals of 2 different power supplies and try to find the voltage at the short using a DMM?

You have not shared enough info for anyone to answer this. Are you planning on connecting the negative leads together? Are the power supplies using floating negatives or are they bonded to ground? If not nothing will happen. If so, then it depends on the power supplies. Some have protection from being back fed. Most have some type of current limiting. But what is the point of doing this. Just to play around? This question is similar to asking “What if I stick one thumb in my mouth and the other in my butt. Will it taste the same if I switch them?” Without a good reason for asking, you are going to look foolish.

What are the benefits of 3 phase electricity connection for house? Will it give more power or less consumption?

For house hold devices we don't need three phase. Single phase will do the required job.Power consumption depends upon load, single phase water pumps consume more power than domestic Led lamps.Three phase is generally used for heavy machinery. One advantage of three phase over single phase is that it provide more instantaneous power.Three Phase motors run more smoothly.Three phase are released from power house to your colony. Then all the house are divided equally ( as per there load requirements). And then load is equally distributed on three phase and provided to your house.Rahul Marwal
