How can i remove a broken upper ball joint on a 1978 chevy pickup?
I use an air chisel, but if in driveway, just use hammer with good chisel, chisel the top off each of the rivets holding it into place. Hard to get a drill in there. You will find with a good (2 to 3 pound) hammer, they will chisel off fairly easy. The new ball joint will come with 4 new bolts for reinstall
Anybody have an s10 blazer?
Don't buy anything just to burn out. Buy something you'll enjoy driving. Yes, you can enjoy driving without burning rubber. Anyway, my bro used to have one. An '89 i believe. They look great and usually drive the same. His was four wheel drive. We used it to flatten the three feet of snow in the driveway to get the other cars out. If it's been sitting for awhile, be prepared to do some maintenance to it. Ours sat for about five months before my bro fixed the engine the first time (dad blew the timing chain at 60k miles). No more than three hours after he put insurance back on it a brake line blew while he was turning it around and he went into a tree. After i stopped laughing and helped him get it to the garage, an inspection shown the front and rear brake lines had rusted out. Anyway, as long as it's been taken care of and everything runs good, they're worth buying.

Rattling in front wheels of my 94 chevy s10?
Bad Wheel Bearings Usually make a grinding noise. If you jack the car up, and you can shake (jiggle) the wheel back and fourth, that would also be a indicator of a bad wheel bearing. Sometimes you may only get one symptom. You should purchase new wheel bearings. You can get a very good deal on USA made bearings from http://mibearings.com The replacement of bearing for a 1994 Chevy S10 is fairly easy and a do-it-yourself. I hope that helps!
What is the difference between 4x4 and Z71 trucks?
Not to be too lengthy, and some great answers here. Just wanted to provide a bit of background. Years ago, when dealers ordered GM trucks (GMC and Chevrolet) when you ordered a 4wd truck, you could add the Z-71 option code, which was an OFF Road suspension. It included Billstein or Monroe shocks, skid plates under the tansmission and transfer case, and sometime, the G-80 EATON rear locking axle. The option became so popular, people soon started asking for trucks with the Z71 option. The Dealer would have to pull the invoice on the truck or review every window sticker on the lot. So, for ease of identifying, GM started putting decals on the trucks with the package. Eventually, the package became so popular they turned it into an entire trim level, even making it available on 2WD models. It was a very affordable option, considering everything you got for the price. However, many 4X4 trucks didn't have the option, and only said 4X4. Today, it doesn't necessarily mean what it used to, but originally, it was just an option, known only to dealers, for the off road package.

How much does it cost to replace a tie rod?
As with many of the More Useful Answers already left here (some are just snide remarks from people who feel better about themselves when talking down to others!) it really depends on the vehicle & the specific part in question. There are “Tie-Rods” & “Tie-Rod Ends”, then there are Inner & Outer Ends, also Left & Right. So, you must know which component needs to be replaced. Once you have established which one you need, most retail auto parts supply stores have online websites to assist you with the part lookup. If you are mechanically-inclined, you should be able to replace the part yourself, come away from the job with a sense of accomplishment & some extra coin in your pocket! Of course there will be Tools required, Direction & your Time. (Purchase a Haynes or Chilton’s Service Manual for your vehicle… there are also Videos Online to assist you visually.)Unless there has been Physical Damage (Car Accident, Curb Collision) & your vehicle steering is out of alignment, requiring Alignment Service at a Repair Shop, you can avoid this added expense if you make the repairs yourself; When I am replacing a Tie-Rod End on a vehicle which is within Alignment Standards for Steering & Tracking, I clean the threaded areas of the rod with a Wire Brush to remove any buildup or corrosion, then apply a light coat of Aerosol Spray Paint to the area. Once dry, I will remove the part to be replaced, leaving a definite line so I know the reassembly limit for the new component. With everything reconnected & properly torqued, job is complete & no alignment is required.Bottom Line: Unless you are working on an Exotic (Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls/Bentley, BMW, etc) a single Outer Tie-Rod End should cost you no more than $40. Most newer cars have Power-Assist Steering Racks & the Inner Tie-Rods are contained within the Steering Rack, making it much more expensive & labor-intensive, meaning it should be replaced by a shop unless you are an accomplished technician.Best of luck, I hope this is helpful!
