Good Audition Songs For Acting Audition

A good upbeat audition song?

Hey Alice!

Ok, well you should always follow some pretty general guidelines when auditioning/choosing a song.

Don't sing anything overdone or popular (Wicked, Rent, etc.)
Sing for the part you want. (If they're funny, sing funny. Sad, sing sad.)
Believe in yourself and choose a song you're confident with.
Have fun :)

If you follow all four of those steps, you'll be sure to land a callback and from there it's out of your hands! As far as songs go, you're looking for something that's upbeat and probably funny. You can more than likely belt, so I'd sing something that can show off that range, but provide a character as well.

Shy from Once Upon a Mattress
Born to Entertain from Ruthless
If They Could See Me Now from Sweet Charity
I Know Things Now from Into the Woods

All of this music (I believe) can be found in karaoke form at http://www.hamienet.com , but sheet music is a little bit more difficult. You may have to end up buying it from a site such as http://www.amazon.com , although you may get lucky and find someone who will send it to you.

Anyways, good luck with your audition and have a blast. Acting was meant to entertain the audience and the actors :) Break a leg and I wish you the very best.

Good audition songs for "Bye Bye Birdie"?

Kim is a soprano role and she has to be able to have a good range and to hit a high A flat in the song "One Boy". Keep that range in mind when selecting an audition song.

I would recommend the song "Much More" from The Fantasticks because it's similar to "How Lovely to Be A Woman" or "My White Knight" from The Music Man because it's similar to "One Boy." Both "Much More" and "My White Knight" also have high notes that will show off your singing range.

What are good songs to audition for with the cello?

Depends on what you’re auditioning for. I’ll assume its a traditional audition for something like an orchestra, and that the audition music isn’t preselected.Play something that showcases a variety of techniques, while also allowing you to express your musicality and connection to a piece. I would avoid etudes, as they generally are somewhat one-sided and focus on one or two specific techniques.Dvorak Cello Concerto is an obvious pick, but I don’t know how much time you are alloted (song is somewhat long). If you are a intermediate-advanced student, you could play this with a couple months of hard work.Schubert Arpeggione is a more calm and beautiful piece, but its still quite difficult. Usually requires accompaniment to sound great.Ligeti Sonata for cello is another good pick if you have time to play both movements, as they contrast with each other nicely.Hadyn Concerto in D is a classic, and a bit different from all those Hadyn Concerto in C’s everywhere.Popper’s Polonaise is a fun one to play, and sounds good with or without accompanimentRegardless of what you pick, make sure it suits your playing style, and that you dedicate a few months to practice.

Acting: What audition song would be good for a mezzo soprano and portray a dumb blonde stereotype?

You might try out this romp from Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, called "What a movie!" it's pretty funny and needs lots of acting - not exactly dumb blonde but a good way to show off your chops: (description from The Aria Database - Home follows:from Scene 6 of the English opera Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard BernsteinLibretto: Leonard BernsteinRole: Dinah, a suburban wife in her early thirties, married to SamVoice Part: mezzo-soprano       Fach: lyric mezzoSetting: A hat shop in a suburb in the 1950'sSynopsis: Dinah  has gone to see a terrible movie called "Trouble in Tahiti".  She  describes the trite plot that includes Tahitian natives and a volcano  that erupts and the stereotypical island music.Range: B4 - F5D#   Tessitura Eb4 - D5

What are some Broadway audition songs?

Unless you are asked in advance to prepare a song from the show, it's best to sing something that's not from the same show but in the style of the show or the character. For example,'if auditioning for Beautiful you could bring something by James Taylor or Carol King that's not in the show, or another pop song from that era. Bring sheet music for the accompanist that's already been transposed to your key (i.e. don't expect the provided accompanist to transpose on the spot), and choose a song that has the high and low notes that you would need to hit if cast in the part. If you can afford it, bring your own accompanist with whom you have rehearsed. If unsure of what the casting people might want to hear, prepare two contrasting songs (a ballad and an uptempo or patter song) and in the audition ask them which one they would like to hear. As was mentioned by others, choose a song that has not been over-used. For example, you could use a strong song from a less known or "failed" show by the same songwriter - if auditioning for CHICAGO, there are Kander & Ebb songs from Flora the Red Menace or Steel Pier that might fit you. The director or musical director might ask you to sing again with a different interpretation - don't resist or question them, because they probably just want to see if you can take direction. The book, ACTING SONGS by David Brunetti has excellent advice. Also, a that I've seen gets good response is "Where Was I When They Passed Out Luck" from Minnie's Boys. "Momma a Rainbow" from the same show is better known and also effective.

Good audition song for Campbell from Bring It On the musical?

I'm auditioning for Bring It On the musical and am going for the role of campbell. I'm looking for a good audition song that shows acting and belt(not too too high but still basically what campbell sings). I'm looking for something contemporary that is not from heathers or dear evan hansen

A good audition song for "The Fantasticks"????

Anthem from Chess might be good or Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat or Fifty Million Years Ago from Celebration (the same composers as The Fantasticks), She Loves Me or Tonight at Eight from She Loves me. Take a look at those and they might even lead you to something you really like.

What are some good audition songs for the role of horton in suessical?

First of all, good for you for deciding to audition! There are not enough boys in theater, and I applaud you!
Okay. Good audition songs have two elements: they show your vocal range, and they express your feelings and showcase what kind of actor you are.
Some good audition songs you could look into:
Something from Into the Woods
Something from Once Upon a Mattress (look at the prince's songs)
Something from Cinderella (I think it is Roger and Hammerstein...?)
Also look at songs from Disney.
There is a songbook... I think it is called Audition Songs for Kids from Hal Leonard. It has some fun songs you might want to look into.
Hope I helped! Break a Leg!

What are some good audition tips for getting into a musical?

It would be wise to have a musical agent as they will have the lead on the big casting calls that independent people don’t have. You should have good dance and vocal range, a trained professional with good acting skills.Within the audition process you will have different casting rounds and call backs. Always be prepared, even if you’re on your dancing call have your music ready, know your musical key etc. Some people also say wear the same clothing so you will be remembered more easily, as that is what they called back.Arrive early and warm up.Listen to the casting director and choreographer so they can see you’re an asset to their show.Even when you’re at the back, perform well, remember that the clients are always watching from everywhere for a true star always shines. Most musical theatre performers are trained in dance, acting and singing. You need to have great strength as you may be performing 8 shows a week. If you’re a strong dancer and cast member, you could work your way up to dance captain and other understudy roles.Always remember that you could also audition with the same casting director and choreographer for another show so always be professional and know there is always another job that will be a perfect match for you and them.
