Good Laptop For Gaming/the Sims 3

Good laptop for school work & gaming (mainly Sims 3)! ?

I no longer have my Dell 15r!
I was looking at a HP Pavilion dv4 with a 2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M (2.3 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) and NVIDIA (R) GeForce(R) GT 630M Graphics with 1GB of dedicated video memory graphics card for 599.99.

Do you think this will be a great gaming laptop? I know it will be good for school work.

How well does the game "The Sims 3" play on a Macbook laptop?

Well, the specs for The Sims 3 are:2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent.1.5 GB RAM.128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0.Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1.At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games. The Current model Macbooks, especially the Macbook Pros, most definitely fit the requirements. While I would never recommend Apple tech for gaming, it is your personal preference. Also, There is one misconception in your answer. In most cases, playing powerful games on weak systems doesn’t usually create glitches. Instead, this will create poor visuals and performance issues. Weak and damaged GPUs will create visual glitches, only because the processor can’t handle the needs of the game. Sims 3 for that matter, is not very demanding. I see no reason as why the Macbooks can’t handle it.

What is a good laptop that can play Sims 3 (with all expansions) for under $500? The only things I need are internet, Sims, and Word (which I will get later).

Speaking from practicality, rather than knowing for sure, most laptops on the shelf will run Sims 3 with no problem, as you need. The base requirements of an Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent, already states that the game that was written to run on computers of an an entirely different family of processors that came out in the mid-2000’s. This was before things like the Core 2 Duo (common in the later 2000’s), and before the current i3, i5, and i7 family of processors which started around about 2010/2011. We are now in the 9th generation on the shelves, and computers are just simply blazing, compared to back then. Every 2 years, computational speed (for the price) doubles. So, if we compare a computer that sold for $500 two years ago, with one today, the one today will be twice as fast.Sims 4 has come out since then (2014), and even than, the minimum requirements were set for a computer that was about $500–700 back then.I think that you simply need to go down to the store and pickup your new computer. Maybe spend a little more, like $600–700, and get a little more memory (like 16GB), but you should be absolutely happy!

Any gaming laptops that aren't ugly?

Most of these have good mobile graphics cards

Low budget laptop for light gaming?

I say 'Low Budget' but my budget is around £400-£450.
I mainly will use this laptop for editing images for work, storing photography & video games... for example I like to play Guild Wars 2 (MMO type games), The Sims 3 & I'll be wanting to play The Elder Scrolls online on it when that comes out in the Spring.

The laptop I am looking on getting is:

The graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 8330... Which I'm told is decent.

It's priced at £349.99... Is there anything a little better on the market for a bit more money that will be able to handle the gaming?

I do like this laptop & have been told it will do the job fine.

Thanks in advance :)

What are some good 15 inch laptops would you recommend for gaming and college that are budget-friendly?

Here’s what I bought for school: Dell Precision 5520https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/...My configuration has Intel i7, 32GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD. Costed about $2500. Gorgeous 4k screen. It’s run every game I’ve thrown at it reasonably well, and usually I choose 1080p for games. The link I gave lets you customize, but do yourself a favor and choose the i7 or higher. Not sure how budget friendly you can make it but this is a good one. Just note that you can’t get a CD drive in this one

Will a Compaq CQ60-320SA Laptop run sims 3?

You're good to go as far as CPU speed and you have more than enough RAM to run the game. The graphics card is where it's hard to tell. The 8200M that your laptop has is not specifically listed in the "supported video cards" list. But the earlier and lesser 6200 and 7200 series are listed which leads me to believe your card would run the game, but you'd probably have to run it with low graphics settings on a low resolution. For future reference: The second number in NVidia's video cards is where you need to look. If it's 1-4 the card is not meant for gaming it's meant more for desktop graphics and movie watching. the 5-9 series are for serious gaming and will run anything you throw at them with high if not the highest settings.

Windows Supported Video Cards
NVIDIA GeForce series

FX 5900, FX 5950
6200, 6500, 6600, 6800
7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
9300, 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
G100, GT 120, GT 130, GTS 150
GTS 250, GTX 260, GTX 280, GTX 285, GTX 295

You should run the system requirements checker at the EA Sims 3 site: Either it'll flag your video card or say it's good to go. The scan will tell you for sure. (I think you'll be ok :-)
