Have I Eaten Healthy/enough Today Underweight

Is it okay to workout and eat healthy if you are underweight?

Eating healthy food and exercising is an excellent life choice for anyone, regardless of weight, body type, age, and what-have-you. Our bodies react accordingly to healthy food and exercise, and I believe that there are no negative side-effects to this, even if you are underweight. In fact, these two lifestyle choices will benefit you in the long run, in that 1) you may gain weight and muscle mass, thereby making you look and feel fit, and; 2) your immune system will be stronger and help you ward off diseases better. So go ahead and maintain a healthy diet AND exercise regularly. Here are more tips:1. Stay away from processed food. This does not make for a healthy diet. Processed food (junk food) and refined sugars cause inflammation in the body which is linked to obesity and heart disease. If you are underweight and can still eat a whole lot of this without putting on weight, chances are these chemicals will affect your body in a different way. Eliminate them from your daily diet as soon as you can.2. Vegetables are your friend. Eat more of them.3. Fat is not bad for you. At least healthy fat isn't. Learn more about healthy fats here.4. If you're looking for a quick and efficient exercise regimen, HIIT may be for you. I suggest you give it a try and see if it's something you'd be into.5. Drink lots of water to hydrate yourself, not only after a workout, but all the time.

Can one be underweight (BMI 16.5) and still be healthy, i.e. not in critical, damaging condition?

Literally every article and test and medical thingy on the internet says that if you are older than the age of 12, a BMI of 16.5 is unhealthy. However, this can’t be true because I have a BMI of 16.5, and I guess I’d be called skinny but not in an unhealthy way. I know lots of people at my school who are as skinny as me, and I know I am healthy. I don’t have an eating disorder, and I eat healthy meals every day. I might not eat tons of junk food, but I still like eating chocolate and chips and stuff. If someone’s BMI is 16.5 and people keep pestering them about it, unless they have an eating disorder or disease, they should be able to tell whether or not they are healthy. I can do 8 or 9 pull-ups in a row (as a 14 year old girl, this is regarded as good) I do lots of excersise, eat lots of food and have a great life.I don’t know why everyone keeps saying that such a low BMI is a really bad thing because I know that’s not true from personal experience.Another thing is the body fat percentage. I have a body fat percentage of 10.9%, which is considered unhealthy for a non-athelete, teen girl. However, this also doesn’t make me sick or dying. Please comment if you agree with me.

Did i eat healthy today?

breakfast: pear
lunch: apple
snacks: candy cane, gum, soda, sucker, fruit2day, mints, a couple trisects and a few hand fulls of granola?
(I haven't eaten dinner yet)

I am a 14 year old girl, vegetarian, 5'1 and weigh 93 pounds. What do you think?

Can you be underweight and at the same time be healthy & well-nourished? What should a person with eating disorder focus on?

I'm going to tread very, very lightly here. If you have an eating disorder, then telling you "yes, you can still be healthy even if you're underweight" gives your disorder more influence. It might be possible, but I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear. However, you say this comes from your mother and not a doctor. Your mother probably loves you and is worried about you. That doesn't mean she always knows what is best for you.I will say, as someone who was underweight for years, that it's extremely difficult to be adequately nourished when you're underweight. Many vitamins are fast-soluble and if you don't have adequate fat stores it's hard to retain those vitamins. Other vitamins are water-soluble and must be eaten every day because your body doesn't store then at all. When you are underweight your body doesn't have enough resources to compensate of something goes wrong. Your immune system is depressed so when you get sick you stay sick longer. You have less ability to control your body temperature, so you become more vulnerable to hot and cold weather. So, I would have your mother accompany you to your doctor and ask him whether you need to gain some weight. It may be that you aren't medically underweight. Or perhaps you are, but not as much as your mother thinks. But if the doctor suggests that you should gain some weight, I would try to follow his advice.

Why am I underweight if I eat 3500 calories per day?

Do you really eat 3500 calories per day? Unless you eat fast food or ‘Manufactured Food Products’, aka junk food, it is hard to eat that many calories. If your calories are from eating fast food and junk food, you are probably malnourished. Is your dietician a registered professional? Why hasn’t s/he resolved these issues?“Enough” food must be put in context with physical activity. Do you get “enough” exercise? If not, get those boots on and start walking! Nancy Sinatra (Frank’s daughter) sang about boots and walking. A bit out of date, but walking is still a source of power.

I am 19, I eat a lot, but I am still underweight. I know that my body build affects my personality. What are a few practical and practicable ways to gain some weight? I smoke, if that matters.

I am a skinny person. I met a friend after 4 years, he was in last year of MBBS.He :Dude you haven't changed a bit. Don't you eat?I: I eat a lot, but I don't gain weight. He: You have fast metabolism, you won't suffer from cardiac diseases."I eat a lot but am underweight."This is because you have fast metabolism, you burn calories faster than others. I hope that you are going to gym or at least doing some exercises. Your body needs exercise. Try eating more proteins, I won't suggest you artificial proteins. You can eat soaked (Soak the beans a night before and eat after 12-14 hours, if you are exercising in the morning) moth beans, soya beans, groundnuts, eggs (boiled of course), your mom may suggest you some more. Start with few grams and later you can increase the amount.Whenever you are doing exercise, it may be easier for you as compared to others. It is because of your less weight. But don't do fast exercises. Your exercise should be slower, even while doing push-ups ,slowly go down and slowly come up, don't haste. Avoid more cardio exercises. During workout remember, "I have to gain weight, not muscle cuts yet."Hope this helps. It helped me, +6kg in 6 months (It is hard for skinny people to gain weight, especially when you are not at home enjoying mom's cooked meal) slow and steady.
