Excel formula for difference between dates, help?
Hi. If your dates are in 2 separate columns (EX: 2012/04/04 in col A, and 2010/06/09 in col B), I believe the easiest way to do this is as follows: 1. Insert 2 more columns, 1 to the right of your first date and 1 to the right of your second date. 2. Copy and paste your dates into the new respective columns 3. Format your new columns to be numbers, with 0 decimals places. This will change all the dates to their corresponding number values. 4. You should have 4 cols now A-D, so in cell E1 you can put in this formula: =SUM(B1-D1)/30.417 5. I used 30.417 because that is the approximate number of days per month. (based on using 365 days of the year divided by 12 months.) 6. B1-D1 will give you how many days difference (665 in this case), then divided by days of the month gives you how many months. So based on your example above your answer would be 21.86277 months. Note: There are different answers on how many days of the year there are. Some experts believe there are 365.24. So depending on how accurate you need your answer, you can use that figure as well. Instead of dividing by 30.417 you can use 30.437. Hope that helps!

hi, how do i subtract x number of weeks from a calendar date. ie say I am at a date 28/03/2012 and I want to subtract 16 weeks from that? All the sites I have looked at mention months only , but 16 weeks dont may consist of months with 30 or 31 days. I am using 7 days as a working week for this calculation/. thank you

Intl(startDate, endDate, offDay, holiday if any)If there is no off day, then you can simply minus startDate from endDate and add 1 so that you can get accurate value.Also, there are other many concepts like you want to calculate tat within 8AM to 7PM or exclude any specific time stamp or any other thing, please reply if you need formula for this.
