Help With Tragus Peircing

Tragus piercing..help!!!?

Pain & tenderness are totally normal.
That's a pretty thick chunk of cartilige so, it's defiantly going to be sore.
It's also in a place that comes in contact with a lot while sleeping.
Your hair, pillow, mattress, ect. You toss and turn in your sleep a lot so, the chances of it being hit are pretty high.
That would defiantly explain why you wake up with it so sore.
You have to also remember that it is only a few days old.

If tossing and turning is a big problem for you, then set pillows up so that you can't roll around as much. Like, body and neck pillows.

Above all, just baby it.
All-natural, non-iodized sea salt soaks.
A pinch of salt for every 8 ounces of hot water.
Soak for 15-30 minutes... reheating the water when it gets cold.
Don't forget to rinse thoroughly.
All-natural, fragrance-free, and dye-free soap such as, Provon, Derma Cleanse, and Crazy Chameleon.
And of course, hot compresses! As many as you want. These can be done an unlimited number of times.
Now, the cleaning & salt soaks should be kept to about twice a day. No more, because overcleaning can lead to irritation and pain.
And never use any alcohol, peroxide, sprays, or ointments.

In your case (since your piercing bothers you the most when you first wake up), I think it would be a real helpful idea to soak, cleanse, and do a hot compress right before bed, and then again right when you wake up in the morning.

Taking an anti-inflammatory, such as Ibuprofen, before bed and/or when you wake up would probably help with the tenderness & swelling.
It's also okay to ice your piercing. Just make sure it's wrapped up real well... don't put the ice directly on the piercing.

Stay away from the headphones as much as you can. I know that's hard, but maybe use some mini speakers until your tragus calms down?

Tragus piercing CBR help?

I got my left tragus pierced with a CBR about a month ago and I remembered yesterday someone saying make sure the bead is tight. Well I twisted the bead and it's a little loose, and I thought okay, righty tighty lefty loosey, but then I was like, my right or the piercer's right?! I can't figure out whether I'm tightening it when I turn it or loosening it more! Does anyone know how to figure out which way is tight? Any experienced help would be appreciated.

Tragus Piercing.?

If your piercer didn't get you directions, don't ever go back to him/her! Sea salt and warm water is the best. 1/4 teaspoon for every 1 cup of water. If it gets crusty, you can soak the end of a q-tip and GENTLY wipe away the crust. Otherwise, I just did the mix in a dixie/paper cup, leaned my head to the side, pressed the cup up against the side of my head, and then turned my head right side up. This allowed what to get in my ear to reach the backside of the piercing. Some people just wash it with the q-tips, but I don't like to poke at it if I can help it. Then I would apply some non-scented, anti-bacterial hand soap on the ring and rotate the hoop slightly every time I took a shower. I did 2 soaks per day and I was fine. Try to avoid sleeping on that side for a while as well.

Don't use alcohol, don't use neosporin. Alcohol can aggrivate the wound, neopsorin is a big no-no...ask any good piercer. Neosporin is for minor scraps/cuts, not for holes in your body! Don't mess with it too much, rotate it too much, or change your jewelry too soon. That can form a keloid, which may require that you take the piercing out and let the hole close.

Do tragus piercings help with migraines?

The tragus and the daith are at roughly the same pressure point on your ear that acupuncturists target to treat migraine headaches. Acupuncturists place needles in ear cartilage to relieve migraine symptoms. It's thought that acupuncture activates channels in your brain that turn pain off.

HELP TRAGUS PIERCING BUMP!! with pictures?

Calm down it's going to be ok....lol. It's 'the bump' and is very common in cartilage piercings. It's caused by irritation to the piercing. They are literally little sacks filled with blood. Don't pop them as this can cause unnecessary scar tissue. I've never heard of using aspirin, but then again I haven't heard of a lot of things. You can try using warm chamomile tea bags they seem to help. However, your best bet is to find pure sea salt... make sure there is no iodine in it. Then take a plastic cup fill it with as warm of water as you can stand and mix the salt in with it. I don't remember the exact measurements to use. I just go by taste. If it's saltier then your tears it's too strong. You should be able to taste but not much. To much salt can cause the piercing to burn and irritate it further. Soak your ear in the mixture for 5-10 minutes twice a day. After always rinse off your ear to make sure theres no excess salt left behind. It won't be long before you notice a change for the good as long as you aren't causing it any trauma.(I'm not saying you are so don't get mad I read the whole question)

Another thing... you may think it's healed but trust me it isn't and won't be for awhile. It takes quite some time for a cartilage piercing to heal. Don't change the jewelry too soon either as it could make the bumps come back.

EDIT: Wow now that I looked at all the pictures i realised it looks really swollen. Hopefully good care is all it needs. If you notice drainage(not the yellow crusties) go to your piercer and have them check it out. H2Ocean by the way is the same thing as sea salt water soaks. The huge difference is the heat from the water causes more blood to head to the area helping it heal faster. The salt pulls the impurities out. So the h2ocean may keep it clean but it has nothing to help heal the piercing.

I need help with my tragus piercing!!! and also what kind of earring should i wear?

I had my tragus pierced about 4 months ago. I had a ring in but got tired of it and decided to change it myself. So i put in a regular diamond stud. But im guessing it was the wrong kind of earing since it was almost impossible to put the back piece in due to the lack of space and its also impossible to clean my ear out (is this normal?) and then after i finally got it in, i went to sleep and the next morning the stud had gone through the hole and i had to push it back out......and that was a month ago and now it happened again! help bc now it hurts and the hole is all stretched and nasty...what to do? Will i never be able to wear a stud :( or are there special stud earrings?

How can I soothe an itchy tragus piercing?

Sometimes piercings itch because they need cleaned. If you aren't cleaning with soap and water once or twice a day or using some other kind of cleaning method as often as your piercer recommends, then you will end up itchy or sore.

Other times piercings just itch because its part of the healing process.

If you're in this second boat, Sea salt soaks can help. Mix 1/4 teaspoon sea salt in 8oz warm water and soak your piercing for a few minutes at a time. You can use cotton wool to apply the soak if you're having trouble getting your ear into a cup.

You can use tea tree oil as other people have suggested, but be careful as some preparations can be VERY strong. Too strong and you can actually damage your skin, not to mention it burns and stings like mad. Be sure to ask the staff where you are shopping about your intended use for the oil so they can direct you to the right product.

There are sea salt sprays marketed for piercings. H2Ocean is one of the more popular. This product can be awesome if you get a good can or terrible if you get a broken can. So it's your choice on taking the risk or not. You can always mix up sea salt solutions yourself and put them into one of those travel size pump bottles you find at stores for much less money and know that it's a safe concentration. If you're going to do this, you may want to add a little less salt or rinse the area with clear water when you're done applying.

You do not want to soap your piercing more than twice a day unless you get physically dirty. Over cleaning can make a piercing dry and itchy, which will lead to more aggravation.

Touching your piercing with hands that have not been freshly washed is one of the fastest ways to get an infection. Even if you don't get an infection, the dirt and oils on your fingers will make your piercing itch like crazy. So scratching with dirty hands is one of the worst things you can do to your piercing.

Tragus piercing help? Is it healing correctly?

Itching and pus are normal signs of healing, and it's also quite normal for it to be swollen and red after 6 days. Some bodies don't take piercings well, so if you have trouble with the healing process, that may be why. I'd say go back to the piercer if your still having trouble in a month.
