This is a bit of a complicated question, as there are all sorts of web applications and all sorts of web hosts. I don't know Hostmonster in particular, so I will try and give a general answer.Basically, a web application consists of files that interact with a database. These files can be split into other categories, but as this is a very broad description, I won't dive deeper.The common web hosts provide you with a very easy and pre-configured setup, where the files are placed in the right places with the right permissions, and all you have to do is update these files in their pre-existing location.Cloud hosting doesn't give you this comfort. You are given a (virtual) computer and the keys to do whatever you wish with it. You will have general foot-print of where to place these files, and plenty of tutorials how to set up databases etc. so if you know what to look for - it won't be too tough.If your experience is only in programming, and you're not familiar with Apache (assuming this is what your current host is running on), you will go through quite a learning curve to get it working on the Cloud.Another point to take into consideration, is the price factor. Shared hosting is a lot cheaper than the Cloud. The move is worth it if you are having significant traffic, or if you want to make sure you are properly backed up, and are prepared for server failure - having the database stored in a different server, setting up rules for launching new instances of your site on-the-fly, etc. And once you go there, you want to know more about server administration - not rocket science, but out of pure programming comfort-zone.To summarize - if you go down that route, you're in for a significant learning experience. I personally think it's a worth-while trip, but if you want to be safe and quick, you might want to consider hiring someone to do it for you (or stay longer on your shared hosting plan).
