How Can I Get Rid Of My Cat

How can i get rid of my cat?

You could check with farms and see if any will take him. Also, if he is an outside cat, 20 degrees isnt bad if he has shelter, food, and water. We live in Nebraksa with brutal winters and ours do just fine in a hayfilled barn and other buildings. they get fed kitty food every morning and warmed up calf replacer milk. They stay fat & happy all winter long. And yes, an add in the paper is a good idea too. Also, you could call to vets and see if they know anyone who wants a Tom Cat. They usually have lists of people who want cats...or at least in Nebraska they do. If you tell the ASPCA if you just found him, they usually take them for free. You have the right ideas about how to get rid of him.

You need to contact the pound and report the behavior issues!!! You signed a contract when you adopted him, and giving the cat to someone else is breaking the contract. They want to see you and your cat have a successful relationship and by all means they can help you get behavior training for your cat. If the cat is becoming too angry and mean you may want to beg them to take the cat back because no one told you he had aggression issues. That is something they should of clarified when you adopted him.

The only thing dangerous about cats and being pregnant is scooping the dirty litter pan. You can be exposed to a bacteria that can harm your baby. Don't touch the litter pan. Have someone else care for that and you will be just fine. If you don't want the cat in the baby's room as you set it up it's very simple to keep the door shut. Also you can work with the cat while you are pregnant to know he isn't allowed on the baby furniture and such. If that doesn't work put the baby things in a room where there is a door and keep it shut.

You can have a cat & be pregnant and do just fine. Lots of people do.

Best wishes whatever you choose I hope it works out.

How can I get rid of my cat?

1.You should take your cat to the animal shelter where other people who are intrested in getting your cat can get him without to much trouble.
2. You could put your cat on E-Bay that way if you are trying to get a exspensive deal you could do that and after a week or so if no one wants to pay that you can put down the price.
3. You could always give your cat to a good friend or relitive who you know you can trust to look after you cat.
4. This is probably the worst idea but if none of the others work you might have to put him to sleep. It dosn't really hurt the animal it just makes them die peacefully. You probably don't like the last suggestion but i'm thinking up all of the options I can so it is easier for you to get an idea of what to do!
Good Luck
I hope i helped you

I have to get rid of my cat?

before taking her to a shelter, try to find her a home on your own. craigslist is a surprisingly good place to rehome pets- just make sure to charge a small rehoming fee (like 20 or 30 dollars) and do a house check for whoever wants to adopt her, so that you can be sure that she's not going to become a test subject or anything like that.

If you do have to take her to a shelter, make sure to take her to one that is either no-kill or is very low-kill. Many no-kill shelters are unfortunately full a lot of the time, so it is hard to get them to accept new pets. The Humane Society is a kill shelter but usually does a decent job of getting pets out, as long as they aren't sick or disabled. If you have a choice between a shelter that accepts animals at no charge and one that makes you pay to drop them off, DEFINITELY go for the one that charges a fee because it means that it will have better funding and will take better care of you cat. And, if the shelter doesn't vaccinate pets on entry, make sure your cat is up to date on her vaccinations before she goes in so that she doesn't get sick!

but before any of that- I would definitely try VERY VERY HARD to find a place where you can live with her. there are lots of apartments that accept cats. I'm certain that if you look hard, you can find something.

If you have been trying for months to find it a good home & have been unsuccessful, you will have to find a shelter to take it.

Do a bit of research to see if there is a pet rescue organization or a no-kill shelter that will take it. They will try to find a good home for it.

If there isn't a rescue group or no-kill shelter, you will have to relinquish it to the local Humane Society or animal shelter. In all honesty, the chances of the cat being killed are very good, there are simply not enough homes for the pets who have the misfortune to end up with someone like you.

Do the pet world a favor & NEVER get another one.

Senorrobert,

I am sorry that you feel that "getting rid" of your cats is the only solution. Before you do that, why not ask your wife to groom them, with a shedding comb, frequently so they will not be shedding so much. Brushing just doesn't work as well for getting rid of fur being shed.

The shedding season is upon us, of course with the hot weather on hand, so you must be experiencing more shedding than usual.

I know if my husband asked me to get rid of our cats I would be seriously upset. I would want to do just about anything to be able to keep them. While it can be frustrating and annoying, the joy of having cats is really quite extraordinary once you get to know them better.

If all else fails, you can contact Petfinder.com and ask to have your cats listed for adoption.

It would be indeed a shame for your cats to be separated. They are a family amongst themselves and will be quite upset with a change of home as well as being separated.

Good luck and I do hope you find a way to keep them. My husband has gotten used to a few stray hairs here and there. After all HE sheds himself.

Where can i take my cats to? i have to get rid of them...?

Why can you not take your cats? Just because you're moving is not a good enough of an excuse. My daughter flew her cat from BC to ON for $50.00 in cabin. Please do everything possible to take your fur-babies with you. What you're doing is like dropping your children off somewhere because you're moving.

Pets are not disposable family members!

Okay, take a deep breath and chill! Jeez, it's not like you bothered to mention 9 cats! Most people here probably assumed you had only 2. Yes, to some people their pets are loved as much as their children! I'm not gonna lie, you're going to have a very difficult time rehoming all of your cats, cat rescue groups are usually full and cannot accept them. City-Run Animal Control has as little as a 24 hour kill policy, in my area it's 72 hours and it's not only cats but adorable kittens too. Whatever you do, do not dump them like some pet owners do in the countryside, they'll die. BTW, you never explained in detail why you cannot take your cats prior to my original post! Oh and like Elaine said, they're your responsibility and you have little sympathy from me either. Here's some links if you're struggling...

How do I get rid of a cat?

To the many people on Quora who take good care of their cats and answer cat health questions: I’m sorry to have to put such disturbing pictures on the site, but the dire consequences have to be graphic to get attention.Because this could happen to your cat. Oddly enough, some people think it’s OK for coyotes to kill cats because house cats kill mice and occasionally birds. THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE IT.Since you took responsibility for the cat when you adopted it, you need to put some effort into rehoming it.Of the answers I read, I have to disagree with the idea that cats would mostly likely starve to death in the wild. When you take this easy road, the cat is most likely to be killed soon by predators.I live in an agricultural section of Conn., and you don’t link predators with CT. However, coyotes are in the suburbs, in my former suburb, and there are other predators. Hawks. Raccoons, foxes, dogs and just about any carnivore larger than a cat will attack and eat it.Coyotes are the most common in my area. They don’t just break the cat’s neck before eating it. Some don’t bother. A reliable neighbor reported to me seeing one of our neighborhood cats dragged up someone’s front steps and eaten alive, stomach first, while the poor cat was crying pitifully until it lost enough blood to die. The attack continued. Coyotes attack children as well. This cat was your companion. She does not deserve to dying an agonizing and unwarranted death like this. Do you want to live with the likely consequences? It’s your responsibility to find a shelter, preferably a no kill shelter, to place the cat in. She will not live long, and have a horrible life left alone to die in the woods or farmland. And there are many ways for a cat to die soon and painfully even in NYC.Please find a new home for it.I am blocking answers since recently I’ve had a rash of comments recently, including being called a “cat killer” and other psychotic remarks. These were obviously disturbed people and their comments in no way reflected my advice on how to deal with newborn kittens, etc.

How can you get rid of scabs in your cat?

How can you get rid of scabs in your cat?I’m not a vet but I had to take one of my cats to the vet several times because of scabs all over her body. From what I gathered, scabs can be caused by many things so there’s not one particular treatment for that. The best is to take your cat to the vet and have the problem diagnosed so that it’s treated correctly. In my cat’s case it’s that she’s allergic to flea saliva. The scabs went away when the vet gave her a pill for fleas and prescribed some antibiotics. Now I just have to be careful about fleas and make sure she’s clean. This happened over a year ago and she’s never had scabs again.

HOW CAN I GET RID OF MY CATS FOR FREE?

The people in the small rural town that i live in will generally set up in a parking lot of the supermarket, local Walmart , etc. Put a sign on your vehicle , something like "GREAT FAMILY PETS, FREE TO A GOOD HOME." This option, also allows you to screen your prospects to some extent. You may run into someone that you already are acquainted with that is looking for a pet, if so, you might know who is, or who is not , someone that you would want to place your cat with. Also, this option might possible allow you to have a contact connection with them in order to be able to check on the cats from time to time.Possibly even to visit them, this would help you and your pets to make the transition a little less painful.
