Honestly, the best way to convince your parents is to not say anything at all. Parents HATE to be nagged! Try to keep up your grades, keep your room clean, and help out around the house. But don't kiss up, it's obnoxious. But you really need to try and see things from your parents point of view. Your last puppy didn't work out, that's discouraging and dissapointing. So why would they do that all over again? Puppies do cost money, not only the upfront payment but vet bills, food, and flea,tick and worm preventative. Not to mention bathroom breaks at 4:30 in the morning anf the whining and crying. As tempting as puppies are, believe me they are tempting to have, your parents might be more willing to get an older dog. That's right, adoption! There are over 2 million great dogs waiting on homes. And you don't have to go get a mutt from a shelter (although shelter dogs do make the best dogs. Many of them are put down every day!) If your looking for a specific breed you can search for breed specific dog rescues in your area. For example, my mom is the intake coordinater for a golden retriever rescue. You should at least look into it. Many of the dogs are grown, already house trained, evaluated, and have had those pricey puppy shots, and they are spayed/ neautered. If you do end up with a puppy please avoid backyard breeders and puppy mills. Find a reputable breeder and always spay/neauter your dog. Best of luck!!

Until they walk in on you having sex with the opposite gender or see grandchildren come into the picture from a heterosexual relationship they might continue to assume such things.I had a friend who had that issue. He didn’t really date a lot in high school or college. It just wasn’t a priority for him. Also he was a bit of a health nut and always went to the gym. So his parents just assumed he might be gay, and on multiple occasions told him they still love and support him, even if he was gay. Even after he told them he loved boobs, found chicks hot, he just wasn't seeking any relationships.It wasn't until after he joined the military, met his wife, and had a baby did they stop assuming such things.

The more lies you get tripped up in, the more they don't trust you, and the more they are going to say “No” to things like going out last minute, and the more you are going to have to lie. It is a vicious cycle. Then you start to really dislike them. Trust me, they get tired of your crap too. Parents admire when someone owns up to their mistakes and apologizes. Doesn't mean we will do that, not because we don't think we have to, but because all parents are different people. Life isn't fair and parents aren't always perfect. I’ve made mistakes and seen plenty of bad parenting fails. It is hard for us to see you as adults. It is hard for you to see yourself as kids.

Last week, I was shopping and just ahead of me, in cash counter were high school 5–6 children paying at the cash counter and police walked in and arrested all of them for shoplifting and theft. They are just 15–16 yrs old and police record befre thy even started their career. Maybe, your parents are protecting you from all these. Can you imagine your life behind bars with criminals and murderers?

How can I convince my parents to get my tongue pierced? They aren't concerned about health issues, my brother got an eyebrow piercing when he was 16, and afterwards he removed it and got a tongue piercing so I know what it looks like and i can get personal advice from him. He did them with my parents' permission, so they already know all health issues and what happens afterwards. My sister who was 22 at the time, got a navel piercing too behind their backs and they got really mad.. So I'd rather not do that. How should i convince them? I just asked them, and it must be because of school, but I want to do it on winter break, so I have enough time to heal and wear a transparent retainer (Which is allowed in school). Background: I am 19 and I have had my license since the day I turned 16, I have shown responsibility by having 5 different extremely nice cars and trucks, all of which would normally draw a lot of police attention (custom paint, tinted windows, and fast / bright colored cars). I bought every single car myself and paid in cash. I never even got pulled over, and I have never been in an accident. I am a full time engineering student and work 20 hours a week at a bank, I am a "good kid" and don't use any drugs or alcohol. As you can see i am very responsible. Question: How do I convince my parents to let me get a motorcycle? I have been trying to convince them since 6 months after I turned 16. They say they trust me, but don't trust other drivers to not hit me or pull out in front of me. I live at home and they say that I cant have a bike until after I move out, not for my safety, but because my mom does not want to sit at home and worry about me making it home. I have tried for a 250-350cc dual sport (dirt bike type) bike, as well as a small sport bike (Kawasaki Ninja 250). Neither of these are fast by any means (My car I am driving now has a top speed of over 160mph). So how do I convince my mom that I wont get hit by a car? I have already suggested: extra reflectors, neon green / reflective riding gear, extra bright lights, buying a bright colored bike, only being allowed to ride when its light out, call/text her when I leave and get places.
