How to get into Castle Volkihar on Skyrim?

I've just initiated the Dawnguard quest "Chasing Echoes" in which Serana insists that we go talk to her mother. Supposedly this means I have to go to Castle Volkihar, however the main entrance across the bridge from the icewater jetty is blocked by a gate. I went around to the western side of the castle where it's guarded by skeletons but it says I need a key to open the door on that side, which I can't seem to loot off the skeletons. Is going to Castle Volkihar even what I'm supposed to do on this quest, and if so, how do I get in? If not, what else then do I do? Thanks.

Can't get into Castle Volkihar in Skyrim on ps3?

Have you ever been in the castle before? If this is your first time, you need to have Serana with you. Go straight there after finding her in Dimhollow Cavern. She will follow you up the bridge, but it is a little glitchy (I've done it with two different characters on the PS3 and had problems both times). She will pause on the bridge and you will need to have dialog with her about her being nervous or something like that (may or may not involve an actual dialog tree but just listening to her ramble), and then she will wait while you turn around and go up to the gate. The watchman will give you a hard time, but then he should eventually see Serana and let you in.

If this isn't working for you, you might try walking around a bit, interacting with Serana and/or the watchman, try to get her closer to the gate, and/or just waiting until the dialog is triggered between Serana and the watchman. Once he opens the gate, though, Serana doesn't just go in, if I recall correctly, you have to go forward and enter the castle yourself and then she follows. If you are still having problems, you might try the wooden plate glitch where you drop a wooden plate, pick it up and hold it at eye level and then rush forward to get through the door.

There's also the iron pot glitch, where you drop an iron pot in front of a wall or door, then shout the Whirlwind Sprint at it, and sometimes you can glitch through. If things still aren't working properly, there may be some other reason that is messing up the programming... sounds weird but sometimes when things don't work right on the PS3, you have to make sure unrelated unfinished quests are cleared first, maybe fast travel away, wait several days in another location and then fast travel back, and/or get arrested for a minor crime in the same hold and pay your fine (which resets your inventory and follower, when you "reappear" outside the jail -- also a way to "find" a lost follower). You have finished “Awakening”.
Half wat across the bridge (Castle Volkihar) She is supposed to talk abut the Dragonborn keeping quiet.
The Guard opens the gate on sight of Serana.

Skyrim Dawnguard Castle Volkihar bug?

I can't seem to enter Castle Volkihar to finish Bloodline quest. It just crashes. I've tried "coc dlc1vampirecastleguildhall" in the console, but again, it just crashes.
is there any other way to get into the Castle?

Skyrim, gate won't open at Volkihar Castle, can anyone help?

Sadly I tried all that already. I have also tried clearing the cache, deleting the add on and re-installing, reverting to a save in which i had just visited the dawnguard castle to initiate the quest. I then tried doing the quest in different ways, I don't have a save file after lvl 4 in which I visited the Dawnguard. Seriously irritated now as i've wasted so many hours for like the 3rd time on Skyrim only to come across a game-breaking glitch. Does anyone have a gamesave incase I can't find a fix and if so could i have details on the characters? Thanks in advance!
