My hat is to small, how can i stretch it out?
i got a new hat for my birthday, and its a new era 59 50 hat. all my other hats are 7 3/8, so i decided to go a little bigger with a 7 1/2, well i get it and it is way to small even though it is a 7 1/2. i guess all hats are just made differently. anyone know some way i can stretch it out without damage to the hat or anything? thank you, anything helps.

I have a beanie that is supposedly "one size fits all," but it is a scosh tight. Should I wash it in cold water and stretch it over a styrofoam head or something? Anybody have any good ways of stretching out a hat?

no, but you can shrink it and since its only 5mm you will be fine its hardly gonna be "too big and floppy" when thats the size difference once its gotten wet, it will shrink a bit

They have these things called 'waistband stretchers' that serve the same purpose - you can probably get one at your local store like walmart or target. It stretches the elastic on a band and you leave it overnight. Hope that helped!

I'm guessing you'd just like to jump up to the next size. There are a couple of solutions on the net, one of the most popular being the stretching the cap over your knee technique: "sit down. put the hat on your knee, bill facing away from you. grab the back of your cap and tug it kinda hard, you'll hear popping sounds it'll now be a little bigger... The combination of wearing it alot and using the knee technique a bunch of times eventually worked for me though I heard no popping sound. There are other possible methods such as wrapping it around a mini basketball and letting it sit by a heater so it will expand. As one person who successfully stretched their cap by this heating method stated, "Basic physics: heat expands materials." Just remember, 59/50s are made of wool and Cool Base caps are made of polyester so some of these methods people suggest may or may not work depending on which one you have. Good luck!
