How Do I Turn My Jeans Into Shorts

How do I make short shorts out of a pair of jeans?

Cut them to about an inch longer than the desired length. (You don’t need to be perfect on the cut.)Turn them up inwards so that the fold is straight. (You do need to be ‘perfect’ on this - use a few pins to hold the fold up until after the next step.)Sew up the bit you turned in so it stays. You may want to iron the hem (the straight fold). You can do this either betwern steps 2 and 3… or after step 3.

Take a pair of scissors and cut the legs to your preferred length. If you like the frayed look then stop here. If you don’t want a frayed hem the you need to fold the bottom of the leg of the shorts and sew around it to make a hem.

Cutting jeans into shorts?

Generally I would suggest using scissors, in my expierience they work well. However i have heard in the past that using a swordfish to trim them back gives a much more scraggly look which is very cool. Or you could put them in the fire and extinguish them at you desired length this method of course requires adult supervision.

I cut my jeans into shorts. But now they are WAY too short. How can i fix them?

Question about cutting jeans into shorts?

Put them on, and with a washabale marker draw a small line of where you want them to hit ( make sure the pockets wont show )

Take them off, lay them flat on the floor and take sharp siccors and cut one leg of the jeans at a time. Make sure you cut a straight line. Then, put the new shorts back on- if still too long, make another line and cut a little more. Remember- you can always cuff them to make them shorter. I find that this often works better AND looks better! :}

good luck!

If I turn old jeans into shorts, won't they just keep fraying each time I wash them?

I have a pair of skinny jeans from Express and I wear them so much that the area around my thighs keeps ripping. Since summer is coming, I want to turn them into shorts [kind of like daisy dukes]. I've looked online and on youtube for instructions to make sure I do this correctly, but then I can't stop thinking, if I cut them, won't they just keep fraying more and more each time I wash them?
I don't want my cute new shorts to just keep unraveling. Will this actually happen, or should I just go ahead with the procedure?

Cutting jeggings into shorts?

Put them on and figure out how short you want them. Then go an inch or two below that and put a dot with a Sharpie. Take them off.

Fold them in half and put a reciprocating dot on the other leg, so they're even. While they're still folded, cut where you put the dots. Make sure it's a straight and even cut that doesn't slant or anything.

Unfold them and put them back on. They should be a few inches longer than you intended.

Now cuff them. Fold the extra length up until they're the length you originally wanted. If you want it to stay there and not come undone in laundry or fray the edges of the fabric or whatever, you can sew it on the outer and inner seams, just enough to hold it in place.

It's very easy to mess up, so it's best if you do a practice one first. Start with the pair of jeggings you like less and get the hang of it before messing up your good pair.

Good luck.
