My calves are big, should I not do leg day?

If you are an aspiring bodybuilder, bigger calves are good (and rare) to have. Very few people I know (Including myself) are blessed with that genetic trait. I have 21″ fully developed calves myself.However, given that you have high body fat, assuming that you would be having dense fat deposition around your calf area too, which would be making them more bigger. You may think its mostly muscle, because of the density you can perceive in the area, but that is not true always in case of calves, which is why I mentioned above around dense fat.You could try to lean and shape out the calves by exercising them 2–3 days a week, with gaps no more than a day, with lesser weight and higher repetitions till failure. This would not let the calf muscles grow in size beyond their current size, but will help in shaping and leaning them. Training them in this pattern will not lead to a significant direct topical fat loss as such, but then a limited amount of fat loss will also happen nonetheless through an indirect mechanism induced by increase in the muscular endurance in the area. Doing slow aerobic exercises, especially walking, will further help. And don’t worry about overtraining them, because muscle groups like calves, forearms, and lower back are very resilient to overtraining.Missing leg days just because you want to reduce calves size doesn’t make sense. Im 14 years old, I want to lose weight on my thighs, and tone my legs. What should I do?

For toning, you need to lose a bit of weight to show the "toning through" if that makes sense. You're not really losing weight since it'll be replaced with muscle (that you've toned up) because you probably have untoned "fat" if that makes sense.

Since you're female you'd want to do toning exercises that build lean muslces, so I suggest 30-60minutes of pilates a day, but you should always have a recovery day. Start out with 30minutes and eventually after maybe 2 weeks work your away up to 40/60. So every 3 days pilates, rest, and 3 days again of pilates. They're really easy to do with your favourite TV show, revising etc.

Here's a YouTube channel I'm using atm, I'll send you some for thighs, legs and butt. There's loads on the channel though, there's even a 30minute pilate workout! They're absolotely killer!!

And you should pair all of this with some cardio, you can go on for 30minutes/45minutes. and listen to music. But don't ever give up, the extra 5minutes makes all the difference! And remember you're doing it for you :)
Cardio is key for your metabolic rate, and more than anything burning fat and metabolism + fat burning are hand in hand! Really push yourself

Also try to drink 2Litres of water a day, what I did was, bought a massive 2L bottle of evian, and changed the lid to a "sucker" lid as opposed to a cap lid, so I felt more inclined to drink it.
This also helps your metabolic rate :D flushing toxcins etc. getting trhe most out of your yummy foods :D

I assume that by working out you mean weight training. It is possible to lose weight while lifting weight. The “secret” lies in your cardio and diet. For cardio, maybe you can try to warm up some 15 min.followed with 30-45 min.weights and then some 20 min.medium intensity cardio again. If you are a beginner then you could try a fullbody workout 3x a week and on the weight free days do some cardio. Working out revs up your metabolism for several hours. If you combine this with a clean diet, you will be pleasantly surprised. Google the definition of Basic Metabolic Rate ( BMR). This is the amount of calories you need to survive in rest. Once you have calculated your BMR then you can lower you daily caloric intake with some 500 calories. This is a doable amount for just about everyone. Lower your carbs intake, while increasing your protein intake. That way you stimulate fatloss while mantaining as much muscle mass as possible. Get your protein from lean sources: fish, chicken, lean beef, etc. Use complex carbs: sweet potatoes, whole grains. Fill up on veggies and throw some fruit in the mix. Don’t expect changes overnight. The weight you want to lose, didn’t get there overnight. You can safely lose a pound or two in a week. Specially in the beginning.Hope this helps.

What is a way to get my calves smaller while losing weight and working out?

Think about your body on a cellular level when you lose fat, you are not losing the fat cells. Your shrinking the size of them. There are studies that were conducted over 20 or more years that prove that the number of fat cells you develop as a child will stay the same through out your adult life. You only determine the size they grow to by what you eat and how much you eat. Exercise tones the muscles back into shape. Therefore, you should consult your doctor not public opinion on what is best for weight loss and muscle toning. Like you said. “Genetics gave me big muscular calves” nothing shrinks muscle except starvation when your body eats itself to survive and that will damage all your organs as well. Always consult a doctor before making diet and exercise changes.

What's the difference between a toned leg and a skinny leg?

toned legs are strong, healthier, look better and have muscle. Skinnny legs are for ano people, they dont have muscle apart from the ones that never go away(if you know what i mean) and they have no fat on them, they usually look bony and well , not good.
