How Do You Publish A Book There

How to publish a book?

I am 15 and have written a fantasy series that I want to get published. I plan on writing more books too, because I love writing ;) So, how do I get it published? Thanks!

How do I get my book published?

I have written a book. I have been working on it a long time and I am very proud of it. I have given it to a few people to read so I had a few other opinions and was not just being bias. Their responses have been most positive and encouraging so I really think I have something here. I have no clue what the next step is. Where do I go from here?

Have you published a book?

Just wondering how many of you out there have actually successfully written and published a book, whether it be a YA novel, children's story etc ...

Care to share your experiences? Was your first manuscript rejected by publishers, and if so, how long did it take you to get publishers to notice your manuscript and do something with it?

I would love to write children's books, and I feel I have the passion and basic knowledge for it.

Thankyou for your time,

Is it hard to publish a book?

I'm just curious...At first, it seemed kind of easy. Then people start talking about how it is hard to get and agent and publisher. Do you think it's possible for anyone to publish a book? Even...say...an 11th grader maybe?

Is it easy to publish a book?

Depends what you mean by "publish".

It is trivially easy to publish your book in the legal sense. Get yourself a free website and post it on there. Congratulations, you have published your book.

It's pretty easy to vanity publish it. Go to www.lulu.com and follow the instructions. There are dozens of other similar sites.

It's sadly easy to vanity publish it with a scam publisher. Some charge you up front. Others simply do as little work on it as possible, and make their money by selling copies back to you the author or by charging for a million and one additional services.

It's extremely difficult to get a book published commercially - which is what people actually _mean_ when they say "publish a book." There are tens of thousands of people competing for just a few slots available each year. Your chances, once you have a completed, polished manuscript, are about 1 in 1000.

How do you tell which the publisher you are considering is (because all the scams will TELL you they are legitimate commercial publishers)? You go to Preditors and Editors, and you Google the publisher's name together with "scam" and read the first dozen links.

What matters now, though, is to _finish_ it. Get yourself to the point where you're thinking "should I send this to publishers"...and then _don't_. Join a critique site or writer's group instead, and get some honest opinions from fellow writers. What people said when you "told them about it" is utterly useless. They haven't seen your pacing, your characterisation, or even your level of technical English.

How do you self publish a book?

I have been writing quite a bit lately and feel like I am pretty close to finishing a novel. There are no publishers anywhere near where I live so I was thinking about self publishing. Does anyoe know how to do that?

How do I publish a book just for me?

I've been writing a novel over the past three months and I want really want to put it in "book form," but I don't want to sell it. I just want one copy of it for myself, so when I read it I'm not just looking at my laptop screen or holding a messy collection of printed word documents...I want to actually hold a book in my hand and have cover art and turn the little pages, if that makes any sense. All of the publishing websites I've looked at seem to talk about not only printing your book but also marketing it, which is something I don't want to do with my novel (mostly because that would involve copyright infringement - it's a fanfiction that I've been writing). Does anybody know how to go about doing this? Is there any place I can go to simply PRINT a copy of my book, but not sell it?

Thank you for your time and advice.
