Stay out of the sun. At least 90% of your day.

The FDA have banned 23 more whitening products. Google it. About 17,600,000 results.
The reason cited for the proposed ban is that studies in rodents show "some evidence" that hydroquinone may act as a carcinogen or cancer-causing chemical, although its cancer-causing properties have yet to be proved in humans. Hydroquinone also has been linked with the medical condition known as ochronosis in which the skin becomes dark and thick. Dome-shaped yellowish spots and grayish-brown spots also are observed in ochronosis among black women and men in South Africa, Britain, and the U.S. Ochronosis has been observed in conjunction with hydroquinone use even in persons who have used hydroquinone-containing cosmetics for a short time. Some studies also report abnormal function of the adrenal glands and high levels of mercury in people who have used hydroquinone-containing cosmetics. For these reasons, hydroquinone has already been banned in Japan, the European Union, and Australia.

Any skin-lightening products containing hydroquinone would be considered new drugs, according to the proposed FDA regulations. The products would require FDA approval before being sold to the public and would only be available with a doctor's prescription.

The beauty industry is a billion dollar business, and there's more & more products like that because it attracts new customers, because NOW suddenly people are waking up . . . the sun is more damaging than ever, but the damaged is done, so they're looking for miracles to make them pure & blemish free forever. I read that if you mix water and lemon juice, put it into a spray bottle and spray it over your body it will lighten your skin over time, but how long does it really take? Thank you

How long does it take to lighten skin?

Your skin lightening routine will bring your skin back to its natural color in approximately 40 days.
It can't be completely accurate because people have different skin types, and their skin reacts differently on exfoliating/whitening products.

The same thing is happening to me every year. I am actually very pale but I often
tan unevenly. I get hyperpigmented skin and it looks really bad.

Here are some tips that worked for me, and brought my skin back to normal faster:

The products you are using are great. However, try to exfoliate your skin more often than every 10 days. Use lactic acid every 10 days, but buy an exfoliating gel that you can use every day. It will give the results faster. You are using high SPF, but try to stay out of the sun anyway. Even if the SPF is very high, your skin will still tan a bit.
One thing that also gave me lighter skin is lemon juice. (Apply it on your skin and keep it on for 5 minutes. Wash out with cold water. Apply it on your wrist first to check for allergic or painful reaction) However, it doesn't work for everyone. You can try it if you don't get any results with the whitening cream. It worked for me.

I hope it helps :)

I'm pretty sure it works...some people swear by it. I'm not sure how long it takes to work but its a strong acid so it removes dead skin and evens out skin tone. You'll have to really exfoliate though to make it work faster or just leave it in your skin a long time.

Your better bet is just buying a skin lightening cream...watch out for hydroquinone though...it causes skin cancer.

Does lemon juice lighten your skin? And if so, how long will it take to see results?

Lemon juice does lighten your skin. It usually takes a couple weeks until you will be able to really notice the difference though I'd say put lemon juice on your skin at least 3-4 times a week :)
