What happens if you bowl a 300 game?

In a pro league you sometimes win a ring, trophy, or cash.

How long will 3 games of ten pin bowling take for 3 players?

On one lane? Probably 90 minutes to two hours. Bowling isn't a speedy sport.

You figure, 3 bowlers at 10 frames a game. So that's 30 frames a game, and you want to play 3 games. So that's 90 frames. Even if you all bowl nothing but strikes, you won't bowl a frame in under a minute. Add in additional time for rolling the "pickup/spare" ball, ball return, pin setup, standing up and sitting down.....and you're probably closer to the two hour mark.

Which is harder bowling a 300 game or hitting a hole in one?

Golf Digest hired a retired chairman of the Math. Dept. at Boston U. to calculate the odds of a hole in one using the "best available" data. Some results:

# Tour player making an ace: 3,000 to 1
# Low-handicapper making an ace: 5,000 to 1
# Average player making an ace: 12,000 to 1

The odds of an adult male bowling a perfect game are 1 in 11,500. Source: http://www.newsday.com/sports/highschool...

If these two sources are correct, the odds of a golf ace vs. a perfect game of bowling are about the same for the "average" player.

A profession bowler's strike percentage is typically over 60% with the record over a season being 66.28%. A perfect game requires 12 consecutive strikes. If each frame could be treated as an independent event (it's really not since bowlers can't forget that they just bowled ten strikes and have a chance at a perfect game with two more strikes), the probability of a perfect game is about (0.6)^12 = 0.00218. This puts the odds at about 460 to 1. These odds are better than a PGA Tour player making an ace so a perfect game is easier for a pro bowler.

During the 2002-2003 season, the PBA Tour recorded 19 perfect games. http://www.economics.pomona.edu/GarySmit...

During the 2005 season, the PGA Tour recorded 33 aces while the LPGA Tour had 21. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/2006-07-16-hole-in-one_x.htm

To make a valid comparison, we would have to know how many pro bowling games were played vs. how many pro golf Par 3 holes were played.

What takes more skill: bowling a 300 game or making a hole-in-one in golf?

Bowling a 300 game by far. It takes twelve rolls of the ball to bowl a perfect 300 game. A bowler may get lucky on a couple of them perhaps, with a less-than-perfect hit where all ten pins still fall. But even those less-than-perfect hits have to still be close to perfect. You have to repeat an excellent shot twelve times. The biggest difference between bowling a perfect game and a hole in one is that the bowler is trying to knock down all ten pins with each throw. Golfers really aren’t thinking “I’m going to knock this in the hole” from 150 yards away. They’re trying to hit a shot somewhere in the vicinity of the hole that will leave them a reasonable putt for birdie.A hole in one often involves some luck. Sometimes the ball isn’t hit particularly well. A low shot that just happens to hit the flagstick will sometimes drop into the hole. The golfer may even know he miss-hit it and he just got lucky and the ball hit the flagstick. If it didn’t hit the flagstick, sometimes the ball might not even have stayed on the green. Very few holes in one land in the hole on the fly. I suppose those would be perfect shots, but even in those cases it really wasn’t what the golfer was trying to do; no golfer is that precise. Most holes in one land somewhere short of the hole and roll in. Nearly all of those involve at least some luck as you really can’t predict exactly how the ball will bounce. It’s the same thing when a golfer hits the ball past the hole and spins it back towards the hole. It might go in and it takes skill to spin the ball back like that, but it still involves luck when the ball lands, bounces just right, and rolls back and finds the hole on such a shot.If you’re playing golf and you hit a great shot that’s within a foot of a par 3 hole and your playing partner knocks it in, you really both hit great shots. You could even say that the neither was really the better shot. The one that went in was just a bit luckier.

About how long would a game of 10 Pin bowling take?

It depends. Real bowlers can finish a game in around 12-15 minutes per person, since they don't eat, drink, or go to the restroom while bowling (but it also depends, since some bowlers naturally take longer to prepare than others). If you're going to be having a party and eating and drinking and socializing it's going to take much longer. Plus, for 15 players, it's recommended that you take 4 lanes (2 pairs of 2 lanes each), since most centers have a limit of 5 or 6 per lane, and it can take up to 3 hours just to bowl 1 game if all 15 are on 1 lane.

Dizzi, you can throw up to 21 balls per game. So if each takes around 30 seconds, then that's 10.5 minutes each person. Plus you need a couple of minutes (in total, per game) to prepare yourself. Which is how I came up with the figure of 12-15 minutes per game for an experienced bowler.

What do you think is tougher a hole in one or bowling a 300 game?

The odds are about the same. Hole in one 1 in 12,750 according to golf digest. Bowling a 300 1 in 11,500. But since I have one of each, I can tell you that the 300 was way harder. Here's why. In the hole in one, I hit a nice high 8 iron that bounced once and in the hole. Nothing to really think about. In the 300, from the 10 strike on the nerves kicked in. By #12 the approach was like walking on a water bed. Way more time to get nervous.

What is the highest score you can achieve in bowling?

The highest score you can receive in bowling is 300 with 12 strikes in a row. Why?When you get a strike in bowling, you also get bonus pins based on the number of pins knocked down for the next two balls. Similarly, when you get a spare, you get bonus pins based on the number of pins knocked down by the next ball. For example, the four frames X X 5\ 7- would be scored as follows:4th frame: 7 pins knocked down = 7 points3rd frame: Spare: 10 pins knocked down + 7 bonus pins for the 7 knocked down by the first ball of the 4th frame. = 17 points2nd frame: Strike: 10 pins knocked down + the 5 bonus pins for the first ball and 5 pins for the second ball in the 3rd frame = 20 points1st frame: Strike: 10 pins knocked down + the 10 pins knocked down by the first (and only) ball in the second frame and the 5 pins knocked down by the first ball of the 3rd frame = 25 points. Thus, this bowler would have a score of 69 points after 4 frames. When a skilled (and lucky!) bowler gets 12 strikes in a row, the game is scored as follows:3rd ball of tenth frame: 10 pins = 10 points2nd ball of tenth frame: 10 pins + 10 bonus pins from 3rd ball of tenth frame = 20 points1st ball of tenth frame: 10 pins + 10 bonus pins from 2nd ball of tenth frame and 10 bonus pins from the 3rd ball of the tenth frame = 30 points9th frame: 10 pins + 20 bonus pins from 1st and 2nd ball of 10th frame = 308th frame: 10 pins + 20 bonus pins from 9th frame and 1st ball of 10th frame = 30 7th frame: 10 pins + 20 bonus pins from 8th and 9th frame = 30and so on, to eventually give 9 x 30 = 270 + 20 + 10 = 300
