How Much Does A Healing Tragus Piercing Hurt

Does getting a tragus piercing hurt?

I have had my ear lobes done twice, my tongue, tragus, nipple (taken out now) and belly button.
My belly button didnt hurt at all, I actually asked the guy to hurry up but he had already done it and was already cleaning it! Ears stung, tongue was numb, and didnt hurt til that night.
Tragus... Now that hurt. I have a tattoo on my lower back, and I'd rather sit there for another hour to get it done again than have my tragus re-pierced! lol
I dont regret getting it done, it's my fave piercing, but it wasnt a pleasant experience.
In saying all that, EVERYONE has different pain thresholds, the only way to truly find out is to get it done!
What I find painful, you may find trivial. :)

On a scale of 1-10: How much does a tragus and an industrial piercing hurt?

I've never had my tragus done, but I had an industrial done so I'll tell you about my experience w/ that...

Everyone's different with their pain tolerance, but for me, getting it pierced AND the healing both hurt a lot. Getting it pierced, I would say was a 7/10. Healing was a 7 or 8/10. For a couple of weeks, even lightly touching my right ear (where I had the industrial done) hurt like crazy. And sleeping on that side was out of the question. Even though I was cleaning it w/ a sea salt solution a few times a day AND wearing my hair up, it was just all around miserable for me. So I decided I couldn't wait for it to heal and I took it out after four weeks.

But if I would have waited a little while longer for it to heal it would have been perfectly fine. I guess I was just feeling wimpy.

How much do tragus piercings hurt?

I had my tragus pierced about 4 years ago.

The piercer, claps your ear, and then pushes in the curvy needle.
The pain is pretty intense and there is a lot of pressure. When the needle finally pushes through the other end of the cartilage, there is a distinctive pop sound and feeling. You actually feel and hear the crunch. That was yucky! Then there is mild to moderate discomfort while they feed the jewelry through the needle.
All in all its a good 30-60 seconds of actual pain, then some discomfort while putting on the jewelry.

The first time I got my tragus pierced, the guy botched it. I took out the jewelry and let it close up. I got it pierced again in the same spot once it healed. So I guess it wasn't such an awful pain to prevent me from doing it again.

So Yes it hurts more than a lobe piercing, as a lobe is more of a pinched feeling then a sting. Where the tragus as I explained, there's more pressure. It also hurts more than the top of the ear. A tragus piercing is not unbearable, and it is not excruciating.

But you know pain is relative. It only lasts for a very short moment. If you just resolve yourself to get through it, you'll be fine.

My tragus piercing took about 2 full months to heal. Now its fine and I can tug on it and theres no sensitivity.

I would rate a tragus at about a 6 on the pain scale (1-10)
My piercings pain scale would be:

Tongue: 2 (not very painful at all, after having it pierced it jumped up to a 5 because it swelled up and I had to relearn how to chew and talk)
Lobes: 3 (just for the hot sting afterwards)
Top of Ear: 3
Tragus: 6-7
Nose: 8 (ouch that hurt when it was being pierced, but it healed sooo fast!)

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

How much does a tragus piercing hurt?

I really want to get mine done and supposed to be going tomorrow, but the more i think about it the more its putting me off the idea, so i have some questions..

I had my belly button pierced, it hurt, got infected and ill never get it done again, to me this piercing was quiet painful as i wasn't really expecting it to hurt. Will a tragus piercing hurt more than a belly button in your opinion?

Also, the after care, how long does it take to heal? I mean a slight heal, not healed enough so there will always be a hole there because i know this takes a while.

If i pinch my tragus until i leave it mark it doesn't really hurt, like a little bit, but its in no way unbearable, how much is this like the real thing?

Also, what about washing my hair after wards, i tend to wash my hair at least once every 2 days, my hairs kinda shoulder length.

Finally, how long will it be before i can sleep on it because i always sleep on both my sides?

How much do tragus piercings hurt?

I got my tragus piercing done last year and tbh it didn’t hurt. Like at all, the only thing is that changing your piercing is kind of hard because it is like a screw on but overtime you get used to changing it. It is a beautiful piercing and it is painless so in my opinion if you want it get it.

How badly does a tragus piercing hurt compared to a helix piercing?

alright... and compared to the inner conch? i have that done as well.

ive been told that the tragus is very painful and im just trying to figure out what im in for as i love it and am trying to decide whether or not to get it done.

My Tragus piercing Hurts?

Itching and pain is absolutely normal - it's part of the healing process so it's actually a good thing that you're getting this. If it is infected you'd probably be able to tell straight away as it is much more painful and you produce a lot of gunk (be aware that you do produce some anyway even if it not infected - again due to healing).

I have quite a few cartilage piercings but the tragus for me was the most painful during the healing process as it is a thick part of cartilage and moves when you talk etc so it's more noticeable day to day. It may just be that during your sleep you slept on it awkwardly which has irritated it more lately, but my ears do the same with a new piercing and go through stages where it can feel better and then suddenly feel more sore again for a while.

4 days is no time at all - it takes up to 15 weeks to 'heal' enough to change the bar but cartilage piercings can take up to a full year to fully heal properly - I know mine did but my ears always take ages compared to most for some reason. Just be patient and make sure you wash it twice a day with rock salt water solution and tea tree drops. Meantime try not to fiddle with it as this can lead to infection. Wear your hair up as much as possible and clip any wispy bits out of the way - I have long hair and it didn't affect the piercing but if you wanna be extra safe then tie your hair back.

Is this normal after tragus piercing?

Hey Im a body piercer. The crustiness is totally normal dont worry. The pain is too, but it shouldnt be severe, if it is like an inner ear infection I would go to the doctor as you may actually have an infection in your ear. But the pain from a healing tragus can cause similar pain too.

The crust is normal too, it is actually helping your piercing heal as it is made up of spent cells, this helps your piercing stay clean inside. Crust is a good sign! But you still need to clean it off to allow new spent cells to form and the wound to breath. Do not ever pick the crust off! Just genlty wash the jewellery with a cotton bud soaked in sea salt water, it will eventually come away after a few washes.

Dont twist the jewellery either, even is your piercer told you to, as this causes trauma to the skin tissue. Twisting the jewelry welcomes unwanted bacteria, it tears the fistula, it slows healing and it can cause excess scar tissue.

Just keep cleaning with sea salt water once in the afternoon and once before bed. Dont do a clean before bed and again in the morning as this is too close together causing irritation, and dirt will be left all day on the jewellery if not cleaned in afternoon. Do one of the washes after you shower too and dont change the jewellery until its healed, 4-6 weeks, and only wear surgical steel jewellery :)

But I would get checked out incase you do have an inner ear infection! Best to be on the safe side.
