Find a reputable shop in your area, go in and look at different artists work, and talk with them. Let them know what you're looking for, placement, size, coloring, etc. A good tattoo artist will let you know what will work and what won't. An artist with less experience won't hesitate to sling ink without being thoughtful of how it will look in the future. Great artists won't let you out of their shop with a crappy tattoo, as their name and reputation is associated with their work. How much will this tattoo on my thigh cost?
I want to get it on my right thigh. It's going to be a mirror and some roses surrounding it, full color. I'm pretty thin(~110 lbs) so there isn't a ton of room to work with. The shop minimum is 50 dollars but it says for larger tattoos it can go up to 100 dollars. I live in a small town with about 25,000 people and the tattoo shop is kinda small and dumpy looking on the outside but it's got some really good reviews and it's the only tattoo shop in my town. Any idea of how much this will cost? I'm going Saturday to get it done but I want to know if I should choose another tattoo that I can afford. I've got about 300-350 dollars to work with. Will making it black and white make the tattoo cheaper? Or what if it's mainly black and white with a few hints of color in the shading? By the way, I live in the DFW area in Texas. good luck! I'm assuming you mean the traditional japanese tattooist? I wanted to do that when i lived in japan but not only is it incredibly expensive, he does not do small tattoos like that (if we are talking about the same person). tradtional tattooists will usually only do body suits or at the very least, sleeves. if youre talking about someone else, then a dragon on your ankle will not cost more than 3 or 400 but thats a weird spot for a dragon....not really enough room to be detailed or be able to see the whole thing.
