In looking at the Tennessee Code, I do not find an age restriction. I believe that certain cities have enacted city laws though. The purpose is to prevent juveniles from (1) spraying graffiti on buildings, and (2) sniffing the fumes. If you are under 18 and have a legitimate use for spray paint, your parent or guardian can purchase it for you.

I walked into Wal-Mart the other day (I live in Utah by the way) and tried to buy some Krylon spray paint that I need for a school art project. I grabbed a few cans off the shelf and went to scan them at the cashier. The cashier wouldn't scan them for me and told me that I had to be 18 years old to buy the paint (I am 15). I had to instead go back and grab some ColorPlace brand cans, which are cheaper but I know for a fact that they are very low quality. It doesn't bother me, but the brand also lacks specific colors that I want (they only have black, white, gray, red, and green). I haven't tried to buy the other brand that Wal-Mart sells, Rustoleum, because they are slightly more expensive and I have a feeling that I'm not of legal age to buy those either. So my question is, would you also have to be 18 to buy Rusto? And would I be able to purchase different brands legally at Lowes or Home Depot?

I've been looking this up, but all I can find is those "Dumb Laws" sites where they say that "You must be 18 to purchase a can of spray paint (Tempe)" .... what about everywhere else in Arizona? If you do not know, are there any sites I can go to that I can look up the information. P.S. I'm not going to tag anything, it's for space art. :)
