How To Transmit Sound Coming From Computer Through Microphone On Skype

Can I use a headphone during Skype interview?

I assume you mean “during my interview using the Skype app”, not “during my interview with Skype (potential employer Skype the company).Headphones will improve sound quality in two ways:You will hear better. The sound will be louder and closer to your ears. Background noise in your room will be less of an issue. It will reduce the loop gain, which reduces the work required by echo cancellation and echo suppression, which makes it easier to both talk at the same time as each other and to interrupt each other. The use of earphones would have a similar effect and might mess with your hair or looks less, if that's a concern.I would recommend going the extra step and using either a headset or a set of earphones with a microphone built into the cable. Thus has the added advantages:Your microphone will be closer to your mouth, which will make it easier for them to hear you due to a louder volume, less background noise and better acoustics (reduced room reflections). It reduces the loop gain even further… see above.Whichever device you use, be sure to try it first with the echo123 Skype sound test service, which lets you listen to a recording of your own voice on a call, and/or with a friend or colleague on a two-way call.Worst case: If your interviewer knows nothing about acoustics and uses speakerphone mode with his volume cranked right up, and you DON'T use headphones / earphones / headset, your call will be plagued with sound problems.Good luck in your Skype interview!

Why does a microphone cause a whistle sound when it is near the speaker?

This is an example of a positive feedback loop.  The microphone is picking up a small amount of sound at all times.  This sound is being transmitted, amplified, and actually coming out of the speaker, albeit at a low volume.  When the microphone gets close to the speaker, the mic is not only picking up the small amount of sound it normally is, it also begins picking up the sound coming through the speaker.  This causes the sound coming out of the speaker to get louder, and the microphone thus picks up more sound, and the cycle quickly escalates until the amplifier or speaker is maxed out.The speaker is "feeding back" into the microphone.  The highest amplitude frequency is the one that gets amplified (fed back) the most, which is generally a squealing sound, but can be a low rumble or hum as well. This is why generally the person holding the microphone is behind the line of speakers, although there is technology to detect feedback loops and dynamically filter out those frequencies.

Can I answer a Skype video chat without my camera turning on?

Yes, you can answer a video call without turning your own camera on.
Even if your laptop has a built-in camera you'd have to click on the button to enable it. There's also a setting to automatically start your camera when you answer a video call, so you might wanna double-check it in your Skype preferences first. :)

Can someone track where you live through skype?

Skype is a type of peer-to-peer Voice-Over-IP client, based on the Kazaa file sharing program. As a concept, Super Nodes were introduced in the third-generation P2P networks. They allow improved search performance, reduced file-transfer latency, network scalability, and the ability to resume interrupted downloads and simultaneously download segments of one file from multiple peers. Basically, they help ordinary hosts connect to each other and guide efficiently the encrypted network traffic.

Super Nodes are also responsible for the 'Global Indexing'. This technology enables you to search for other users in the network. The company guarantees that it will find a user if he has registered and has logged in during the last 72 hours.

The IP address you've gotten, that is the IP address of the server, is as far as you're going to get. You are not directly connected to the other user when using Skype, you each connect to a "supernode" (server) that passes the communication between the users. SHORT OF HACKING INTO THAT SUPERNODE THERE IS NO WAY TO FIND OUT THE IP OF OTHER USERS.

There are thousands of these servers and you can be connected to a ton of them at once, with different parts of a single chat session passing through different servers.

Most ISP issue dynamic IP and block common ports like 80, 25, and some other ones used for popular protocols. Most of the time, your IP resets and your ISP issues you a new IP when your router reconnects. Of course that's assuming you have a dynamic IP.

Hope This Answers Your Question!

How can I listen to in-game sounds and talk on Skype with earbuds?

I assume you are using a regular 3.5 mm (with 3 black lines) earpiece / headphone that usually comes with mobile phones / tablets etc. Unfortunately, unlike mobile phones a computer system(laptops as well as desktops) have one seperate mic in + one audio port. This means the IN port(used to attach mic) can only send the inputs while the audio OUT port can only send the output audio to your home theatre / headphone / portable speaker or whatever you are using.Coming back to your problem, if you still want to use the same earpiece to do both the stuff for you, you have to either use something like this:The connector shown above can be easily found online or local electonics shop if you ask for “one female to two male 3.5mm” connector. These are supposed to be really really cheap ($1 or around). You just plug in your 3 ring earpiece into the single in of this connector while the 2 jacks on the other end goes into your laptop / desktop and you will be good to go.Check your playback and recording devices settings on the bottom right corner if you have any sound issues.P.S. Don’t hold me responsible if you happen to buy a cheap cable and in tun gets anything unexpected. :) JK

Is there any way that I can use Soundhound or Shazam with internal computer audio instead of external audio?

If there isn't, then why isn't this a thing?? I want to find the name of a song this guy uses in his Youtube video but it doesn't have any lyrics and he gives no description. This happens way too often with Youtube videos that people have extremely good intro/outro or background music but don't credit the source and it's so annoying. Is it possible that I can use make those programs listen to the sound coming from the computer instead of the microphone?

What algorithm does Skype use to cancel out noise coming from your speakers so that it doesn't feedback into your microphone and cause an echo?

Don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly, they use a voice activated switch (VOX).  The VOX mutes the listening party's mic while the speaker is transmitting.  They may also use a phase shift of 1pi to cancel out echoes, but this would be less effective since room acoustics would alter the original waveform.

High pitched squeals coming from mic?

My mom has been having issues with the mic on her laptop. It's a Compaq Presario CQ50-103NR. I tried signing checking it out on skype. I tried playing music and later I tried talking. Both of which resulted in a high pitched and loud squealing noise on the listeners side. I tried updating DirectX and the audio drivers. But, nothing has worked. Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm just hoping the mic itself doesn't need to be replaced lol.

Whenever I make a skype call, I hear this high pitched whistling sound. How do I make it go away?

You are getting "feedback" from the speakers. You can prove if this is the problem by plugging in a set of headphones that will automatically cut off the speakers. If the "whistling" goes away, then try the following in order to use the built in speakers.

If there is a setting in the software regarding the suppression of background noise, turn it on. Also, turn down the sound level of the speakers a bit and make the microphone less sensitive. This can be accomplished by right clicking the speaker icon in the notification tray and adjusting the microphone. Also in a laptop the speakers on on the keyboard part of the computer while the microphone is on top of the monitor. If the monitor is too vertical the sound travels up the monitor right into the microphone. I have to make sure that the monitor is noticeably tilted back to eliminate feedback.

Why does my webcam mic echo and sound choppy on Stickam?

usually it happens when the mic has a very low quality

try to move really-really close the the mic before you speak then see if you still have the echo.If you don't have the echo then you need a better microphone. You can buy one from eBay for less than $5.I HIGHLY recommend getting a slightly expensive one tho , because there is a big difference between cheap ones and the ones they sell for $15-$30.
