How Will I Do On The Asvab

ASVAB score of 17???

um i took the asvab and 17 isn't a passing score. "The Army requires a minimum AFQT Score of 31 to qualify for enlistment. However, in recent months, the Army has been approving more and more waivers for those with scores as low as 26 (Category IVA). To qualify for certain enlistment incentives, such as enlistment bonuses, an Army recruit must score a minimum of 50."

What did you score on the ASVAB?

i scored a 98 on my ASVAB with a 131 gt ....it was not very difficult for me but that is not to say it isn't for everyone. if you are worried about the math section here are a feww tips...it is all at an algerbra level or lower so stdy up on a few algebra equations. and especially know the Pythagorean Theorem because you will see the 3-4-5 triangle in some form....such as 2 trains leave a station in opposite directions and go 6 miles the both turn left and go 8 miles how far are they apart...answer 20 miles because they have made 2 triangles of 6-8-10 a multiple of 3-4-5 triangles. as long as you have paid attention in school you should do just fine on your ASVAB and if you are not happy with your score then study some more and re-take it. also the practice ASVAB they give you at the recruiters office is a good indicator of how you will do on the actual ASVAB.

How much does it cost to take the asvab?

The ASVAB is absolutely free. Make sure you buy the ASVAB test book and review the different subjects before taking the test. It will help you obtain a better score, which it's necessary to get better rating.

Is 64 a good score on the ASVAB?

It’s a decent score. More than adequate for the intended purpose of that score. There is no ASVAB score… there is the ASVAB test which has several scores for different things. The so-called “ASVAB Score” is actually the “AFQT Score” of the ASVAB test. The AFQT score is only used by recruiters to determine IF you can enlist and IF they will bother wasting their time with you.It has absolutely nothing to do with what military jobs you qualify for.The score is not a pass/fail.Each branch has it’s own “minimum AFQT score” That minimum score is not a pass/fail point. It is the minimum score allowable, below which a recruiter cannot accept you as a recruit. it does not mean however that he has to accept you if you are above the score, just means he can if he so chooses to.Recruiters have a quota, there are only so many open slots for new recruits in any given period. Lets say you are wanting to join the Army (which has a Minimum Score allowed of 31). You score a 38. Had you scored a 30 or less the recruiter cannot accept you. A 38 means he can… but if he can fill his quota of recruits with those scoring 60+, he isn’t going to waste his time with a 38.You want to score as high as you can, because recruiters are going to take the best first and then work their way down until all positions are filled.Your 64 AFQT score is well above all Service Branch minimums, even if you were to have a GED (which requires a higher AFQT than a High School Grad)It should be Adequately high enough that a recruiter is not going to dismiss you out of hand either. So what does the 64 actually represent? The AFQT score is not a percentage but a percentile. It does not mean you got 64% of the questions correct. It means you did better than 64% of others also taking the same test. What jobs you qualify for are based upon each Service Branch’s “Composite Scores”. These Composite scores are calculated from the raw scores for each of the different subtests areas of the ASVAB. While the test is the same for all branches, your results will have the Composite scores already precalculated for whichever service branch you are takign the test for.The AFQT is also in effect, a “composite score” itself being derived from four of the subtest areas. But it is the same for all branches. The other Composites are unique to each branch.

CAN I GET MY ASVAB SCORE TRANSFER?

I'm taking the asvab for a 2nd time real soon because I didn't score high enough for navy active duty. (I NEVER WAS GOOD AT MATH, SO I DID REAL REAL POOR BECAUSE I DIDN'T REVIEW) I was wondering when I get my score back for the asvab , can i transfer the score to an army or national guard recruiter if I don't meet the navy requirements. IF I DO SCORE HIGH ENOUGH CAN I TRANSFER IT TO THE AIR FORCE ?????

ps. I BEEN STUDYING THE ASVAB FOR DUMMIES AND ANOTHER BOOK ALL LAST MONTH.

When do I get my Asvab results? How long?

This morning I took the Asvab and I want to know how long it would take for me to get my results back. How long by mail? Or how long if my counselor receives it?

How long does it take to get ASVAB results?

It can take up to a week but they are usually available the same day or the next day at the latest - speak with your recruiter about your ASVAB results, he/she should have them by now. When my son took his for the Marine Corps back in October, he knew the results the same day.

What are some good tips to ace the ASVAB?

To give my qualifications. I have taken the ASVAB 3 times and have gotten an 89, 92 and 95. To clarify the ASVAB scoring system a little, a 50 or above is “passing". The highest you can get is 99. This because the score is based on percentiles of people who have taken the test before. There are several scores that can be drawn from the ASVAB. The most important is your GT (General Technical ). This will determine the jobs you can get. You will be tested in math in two parts, but will not have a calculator. You will not need one though! You need to have basic algebra skills and understand how to use the order of operations (Please. Excuse. My. Dear. Aunt. Sally.) You will be tested on paragraph comprhesion. You simply need to read carefully. Finally, is word comprehension. The words aren't outlandish, but they are higher level. So I would recommend reading more books and to look up the words you don't know. You can do all sorts of things to increase your vocabulary. To be honest if you can just understand how to properly use the order of operations and do basic arithmetic, read, and have a good vocabulary you will be fine. If you care about your career in the military then you need to do well on this because you can't get intellectually difficult jobs without a high score.

If I did not pass the ASVAB test, what should I do to join the military?

As George stated… There is a retest policy in place and waiting times before retaking. But don’t have a stress out stroke trying to crash study for the retake. The test is designed at the 10th grade level. Any Senior graduating high school that actually EARNED their diploma should be able to breeze through with an average score(40–60) without even trying. The score does not equate to how many answers you got right. It equates to how well you did compared to a control group of test takers who benchmark the Norm. So if you did well as is expected, as most would do, then you are going to be around 50+ or so.Failing the test… equates to dumber than a box of rocks. Sorry, I don’t intend to insult. just facts of life here. The test is also an APTITUDE test, not a test of how much facts you have memorized. It tests you aptitude for different areas, language, math, mechanics, etc… Your ability to learn those areas. If you scored so low as to be below the minimums, and you have already graduated school… Sorry, but no amount of crash studying is going to move you’re scores more than a few points. It won’t turn you from brain dead to a genius overnight.Either you blew off your education, or your school system failed you. Regardless, no amount of studying is going to move your scores by more than a few points. This isn’t like studying for a regular test on a particular topic. This is a test of your ability to learn and general ability in various areas.Without a solid foundation of education and learning the studying is not gonna do you any good. And if you had that solid foundation to begin with, you would have passed and not needed a retake.it’s a catch-22, I know. But there it is.

GED test compared to ASVAB test?

Well I too have a GED. And no matter what, you will need 15 semester credits to join the Marine Corps or the Air Force. They are very strict when it comes to high school diplomas. My GED scores were all 600-650+ with a 750 in writing, but the GED scores won't be a huge deal. The ASVAB is much harder. It covers some more complex math, but nothing too difficult. Science was definitely harder, etc, and the mechanical comprehension, and electronic knowledge will actually count very little. It only added two points to my overall score. Math is the majority of the score you'll get. I made a 95 on the ASVAB though and given the current economic situation, everyone is enlisting and re-enlisting, and the Air Force just flat out is very picky. At the moment, the Army is trying to send me to MEPS to be evaluated physically, etc. That seems to be the best bet right now, but if you have ever been in trouble with the law or even had a broken bone, you're screwed. With a GED, you need a perfect record, and no medical issues. You can lie about the medical issues though, but the law issues are another story. My parents are trying to convince me to join the Navy, but that's even hard to do with a GED.
