How Would You Describe Something Beautiful

Describe something beautiful...?

Something beautiful... I'll write about something I saw when I was 17 that's stayed with me.

It was a warm summer's day, the kind which made me think of childhood spent fishing for tadpoles with my cousins, of splashing in the paddling pool with my brother, of lying on my back while my guinea pig nibbled the grass beside me. The kind of day where nothing mattered save for innocence and laughter. I leaned back against the tent I'd been sharing with friends for the past week, surveying the peaceful scene: three friends played with a frisbee, others sang along to a guitar, and nearer to the tent my best friend was writing another of her stories. And opposite me, with eyes only for each other, sat Rowan and Tanya. At 17, a lot of people had believed their feelings to be superficial, that they would eventually 'grow out of' being in each other's company. I occasionally felt that way about them. Yet here on this summer afternoon, I sat and watched the couple. Content to just be, they leaned into each other, so that they seemed to be one person. I watched as Tanya gently curved her arm around Rowan's neck, as he turned to her and looked into her eyes as though she were the only thing that mattered. I realised then that she was. No matter what anybody said or thought, when these two were together the rest of the world paled in comparison. Nothing mattered but each other: they were probably unaware of me sitting a few feet away. That, I thought, is love in it's truest form.

Can you describe something beautiful to me as if I were a blind person?

Sure!

The young teenage girl wakes up to her loud, obnoxious alarm clock on a bright, sunny, Tuesday morning. She slowly rises out of her comfy, queen-sized bed and yawns very loudly. She walks over to the mirror stumbling on all of the dirty clothes lying on her floor. She looks into the clean mirror and says "You're so beautiful Mary. So beautiful! Look at that long, luscious, blond hair sitting right there on your dandruff-free head." Mary then gasps with terror as she takes another peek at her face. She turns her head slightly to the right and starts screaming as loud as she can "A WHITEHEAD! A WHITEHEAD! A WHITEHEAD! A WHITEHEAD IS INSIDE OF MY EAR!!!" Mary rushes over to her medicine cabinet and takes out her clean 'Pimple Popper'. She runs back over to her mirror and tries to pop the big, white, disgusting feature sitting right in her ear. She yelps in pain as she does nothing but make it get sore and red. Mary realizes that she just wasted ten, long minutes trying to pop a whitehead!
MANY DAYS LATER.
Mary is sitting at her dusty computer desk talking to all her cool, popular, preppy friends on Myspace. She remembers that she has that huge sucker inside of her ear still. She carefully goes in to pop it, and she pops it! All the white, gooey puss goes right onto her finger and she is very satisfied. She does her little happy dance and slips on the dirty clothes that are still lying on her floor. She lands right on her ear and she shouts "OW!!! That hurt!!!" She scrambles her way to her mirror, turns her head slightly to the right and starts screaming as loud as she can "A WHITEHEAD! A WHITEHEAD! A WHITEHEAD! ANOTHER WHITEHEAD IS INSIDE OF MY EAR!!!"

EDIT: It took me a half an hour to make up that story, you asked so I GAVE YOU A STORY! Excuse me!

Any thoughts on how to describe something beautiful?

Beauty is all around us. Beauty is all and everything. It is what many have and many urn for. It is within us. Or interior or exterior. It is nature. It is kindness. It is not wicked or jealous.
Those of pretty exterior may not be beautiful. They may ask and ask and never be satisfied. They may use they're 'pretty' to constantly get the upper hand. They are not beautiful. Anyone can be beautiful. But not all are.

Is that ok? If you don't like it - i don't mind. May I ask what the essay is on?

Describing something ugly as beautiful?

In my creative writing class I’m supposed to describe something that is ugly, too me of course. But I believe that everything and everybody has beauty to them. The only thing I find disgusting is war. But I don’t really want to write about that… Any ideas? Maybe some help? Please…

Oh, and I’m not asking you to write this for me. I can do that myself.

What is BEAUTY? What makes something beautiful?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I suspect that you may get several answers containing that old truth. For things, beauty is typically what attracts you. So you will see beauty in flowers based upon their color and smell. You might find beauty in the graceful movement of a variety of animals from deer (who doesn't think deer are at least cute) to snakes. Beauty can be found in a dung beetle hard at work. In humans we often speak of beauty of the soul, usually indicating a caring, forgiving, loving person. And, of course, we look at the physical beauty of a person. That will depend upon your cultural background, what you are accustomed to seeing and what you have been taught is beautiful in the appearance of a person. Some cultures admire slender people as "beautiful" and some admire very heavy people. So you can see, the answer is not simple, but complex and different for each person.
