I Just Got My Cartilage Pierced But .

Can i take my cartilage piercing out now?

ok guys so i got my cartilage pierced on december 9th, 2011. to this date it has been roughly 7 weeks since i have had it pierced. little to no more crusties no more pain ( unless its like pulled hard or hit hard) and it moves freely.my piercer said in 6 to 8 weeks icould take it out and change it depending on how fast i heal. i really wanted to wait another month or so just to be surreee but im kinda in a pickle. i just went back from being homeschooled, to public school 2 weeks ago thursday. the new semester started today and guess what i have next? P.E! and our school has a pretty strict no piercing policy in P.E. for liability reasons and what not :( i have long brown thick hari which easily conseals it, but while running its flying everywhere and you can see my piercing. one option is to put part of a skin colored bandaid on it to cover the piercing but that doesnt always work.

but the even worse thing is if they catch you with a piercing they not only make you take it out and put in on this nasty germ infested cart, but they also deduct points from your grade:(

soo i was wondering if yu guys thought it was sfae to take it out? not for long of course, i only have P.E. 3 days a week. 2 days only 45 mins and the other day 1hr 30mins. so i would only have to take it out for that amount of time in the day and i could keep it in a sterila baggie. i could also put an actual WHOLE BANDAId on the piercing open hole, to conceal it from germs while im running.

but anyway can you guys give me tips on what i should do and if its ok to take it out or good ways i can hide it?? :) no rde answers please!

I just got my cartilage pierced but I have to get an MRI, what should I do?

Obviously it'll have to come out for your MRI scan

Look on eBay for plastic retainers and swap it for one of these the day before

I just got my cartilage pierced and my soccer season starts in 6 weeks. What should I do? I cannot tape them up or I will get in trouble.

I’m going to assume you mean a helix piercing here as that's the most common, although there are many other types of cartilage piercing so please correct me if I'm wrong! If you've only just got them done, 6 weeks is really too soon to change them so I think tape would be your best option - perhaps you could have a conversation with your coach about it?If that's really not possible, there are clear plastic studs you can get, but at 6 weeks it's not generally advisable to attempt to change your earring as you essentially still have an open wound which is susceptible to infection. It's something you could ask your piercer about though, as clear studs do exist and are less visible than a standard metal studs. They're called retainers and some are completely flat and therefore less likely to catch. Don't attempt to change them by yourself though, as your piercer can do the change in a sterile environment and advise you on whether or not the retainers are possible at that stage.

I just got my cartilage pierced yesterday. One of my friend said you have to wait for at least 3 days before you can take it out. Is it true? How do I clean it then?

Cartilage piercings take a long time to heal but close up very rapidly. You need to leave the jewellery in for at least 6 weeks in order to fully heal a cartilage piercing, and sometimes may take longer than this if you are slow to heal or if it’s in an area that is disturbed frequently (from lying on it for example). Even a fully healed cartilage piercing will begin to close up with a few days of having jewellery taken out.

Getting cartilage pierced....I'm scared :/?

I'm 14 years old to but I got my cartlidge done with a gun cause I'm dumb and I took the chance I could get haaha and gun will hurt more than needle, I got my nose peirced like a month ago with a needle and it didnt hurt. It does not hurt! Trust me! Don't be nervous, what you do is they'll take you in the back then they ask u what kind of earring you want and they put stuff on ur ear so it doesnt get infected and they'll tell you what to do and you make sure you get sea salt spray it works AMAZING! Clean it once in morning once at night dont touch it too much even tho its hard to. Don't clean it with a que tip just spray it right on there dont do it more than three times a day otherwise it affects healing time. and it takes longer than most peircings to heal since its cartlidge. only twist it when your cleaning it by the way and so besides the fact, it will not hurt i got my nose periced and it didnt hurt and my cartlidge with a gun and it didnt hurt and if you have any questions feel free to contact me through email(: I was nervous too, lol!(: Good luck, even though you won't need it (:

I got my cartilage pierced last week and it is sore to touch and it may be swollen. It has bleed once but not a lot. Is this normal?

It is quite normal for a cartilage piercing to take some time to heal—I had mine pierced eight weeks ago and it is still a little sore! It can take anywhere between three and twelve months to heal completely!Don’t let that concern you though. Continue to gently clean the piercing twice a day with clean, salted water and try to keep your fingers away from it as much as possible. If you have to touch it make sure you wash your hands first, to avoid pushing bacteria into the piercing site. Also, try to avoid sleeping on it and keep hair away from it as best as you can, particularly if you have long hair.Keep an eye out for infection and seek medical advice if you suspect the piercing is becoming particularly aggravated, swollen, hot to the touch, or leaking pus. You will likely find in a few more weeks that the piercing only hurts when you touch it; in which case, just stop touching it!Good luck over the next few weeks! It'll all be worth it eventually!

My cartilage is red and warm, I had a piercing last week but only after a guy threw an empty bottle to my ear this happened, is it an infection?

It is quite common for piercings to become irritated, but not necessarily infected, during the initial healing phase.63. What’s normal for a fresh healing piercing? ƒ tenderness ƒ a small circle of redness extending 2-3mm / 1/8” around the piercing site ƒ a clear to creamy coloured secretion that may dry at the entry/exit of the piercing ƒ that the piercing may close if the jewellery is removed at all ƒ for jewellery to be changed in oral piercings after the initial swelling has subsided – usually after 2-3 weeks ƒ for a piercing to cycle through good and not so good times for the first 12 months, salt water soaking will assist64. What’s not normal? ƒ A piercing that is not showing a continual improvement in the first 3 points above after approximately one month – see your piercer ƒ A piercing that is hot, swollen, red and secreting a yellow to green secretion – these are the signs of an infection – see your medical practitioner as soon as possible ƒ For any piercing to grow out – see your piercer ƒ For jewellery to repeatedly fall out – visit a good studio ƒ To continue use of chemical aftercare after the initial healing period.(http://thepiercingurge.com.au/fi...)If you are unsure, please leave the piercing in and check with your piercer- if you remove the jewellery and there is an infection, this can become trapped in the body and form an abscess.

I just got my cartilage pierced but I have cheerleading tomorrow?

Go to wherever you got your ear pierced or to another jewelry store and buy a clear retainer for your piercing. This will keep the hole open, but it'll be clear so it won't be noticeable. If that's not allowed, leaving the earring out for 2 hours shouldn't affect it too much, but I can't make any promises. If you can't wear a retainer I recommend that you bring an earring with you and just poke it through the hole whenever you get a break.

Why is my cartilage piercing itchy?

I just got my cartilage pierced about four days ago. It's been healing really well; It hasn't been hurting or swollen, maybe just a little bit sore when I accidentally bump it. I clean it twice a day. But now it has gotten really itchy, it doesn't hurt, it just itches. Does this mean it's infected? I haven't been touching or scratching it because I don't want it to get infected. Is there anything I can do the help stop the itchiness?

I just got my double cartilage piercing and one of them is getting into my skin at the back of my ear and is very sore, what should I do?

either take it out or go back to the piercer - this happened with my nose. if the skin is healing over the piercing it’s a sign of poor placement or bad jewellery length
