How to starve yourself?

Don't give me oh it's bad for you you'll end up anorexic. I could care less about that. I just want to lose weight and I don't care if starving yourself isn't healthy. Oh and how long should I exercise for? Btw I'm 15 and I weigh 147 and I'm 5'1. I JUST WANT AN ANSWER ON HOW TO STARVE YOURSELF. Thanks

How do you starve yourself?

Ok people are going to call me stupid for even anwsering this for you, but i liturally starved myself for like a long time and i lost sooooo much weight, even though i became so unhealthy i lost it all so fast everyone was asking me how i done it. The way to last a week is like basically not eat any breakfast, not eat any lunch, no snacks at all in between, and if you feel like it the tinyest bit of dinner, and by the tinyest bit i mean for example a spoon of rice and half a chicken nugget lol.. all i practically survived on was water... i drank water all the time non stop and even though waters good theres nothing that can stop you collasping, collapsed loads of times.. i became really pale, became really ill, my mum dragged me to the doctors to try and help me, didnt do anything because by that time my stomach had closed up so much i didnt really want to eat anymore.. if you do it for long enough thats what it will feel like, like u dont need to anymore.. just know hun i got extremly unhealthy had to have blood tests, diabeties scares.. had to take iron tablets.. if u want to know more email me sumfiingwhoah@yahoo.com..

SORRY IM JUST ALSO GOINGG TO ADD ON AS I JUST READ THE COMMENTS ABOVE.. HUN I KNOW 100% IT ISNT HEALTHY.. BUT ALL THESE PEOPLE ABOVE SAYING IT DOSNT WORK IT ACTUALLY REALLY DOES.. IT WORKED FOR ME, I DROPPED SO MUCH WEIGHT SO QUICKLY.. IT DOES WORK X

Pros and cons of starving yourself?

You asked for pros and cons but your last sentence clearly shows you just want someone to tell you it's okay to starve yourself. I would recommend you seek help, because you have a very unhealthy view of a healthy body image. If someone at your mental state did go on starvation diets, you are more than likely to end up becoming anorexic.

Starvation is never the answer for losing weight. Exercise and a healthy diet (diet means eating) is the healthiest and best way to lose weight. If you are saying that doesn't work, you may have to look into your nutrition plan again. You may be eating too little that your body is no longer willing to use fat for energy, or you're selection of food is not the best. It's impossible to say you are doing it correctly but somehow you are not losing weight, as that is saying the Laws of Thermodynamic somehow does not apply to you.

Please update your post with more details on what your diet and exercise consists of daily.
________
Edit in response to additional detail:
As I have stated in my original response, you are eating too little. Snacks are something you eat between meals, not replace a meal. I would recommend that you increase your caloric intake by following this formula:
10-12*[current bodyweight in lbs] kcal per day (Yes, you will get a negative number but ignore that)

So for example, a 200lb person who used that formula: 10-12*(200) = 2390 (again, ignore the negative). Round that out so you get 2400. 2000 to 2400 is the ideal range for weight loss.

Readjusting as you gradually decrease (or slight increase you may see at the beginning as your body readjusts) is the best way to have constant weight loss while avoiding plateaus. Exercise, just do what you have been doing.

There are safe ways to go about reaching your goals, and there are dangerous. Starving is the dangerous option.

Pros and cons of starving yourself?

Ignore that "no snacks" crap - I have dropped a TON of weight by calorie counting. I NEVER starve myself - if I am not satisfying my hunger with what I'm eating and still staying within my calorie allowance, I find a different (tasty) food that is lower in calories for the volume.

Don't starve yourself. Your body will be convinced it needs to hold onto every little morsel you eat, so you'd really only be hurting your chances of losing weight AND you'd be depriving your body of what it needs to function. Nutrition effects EVERY part of your body, including your brain.

Portion control. Measure everything. Use a calorie tracker. I used to use the database www.caloriecount.com and keep everything logged in a little notebook. Now I use the database and calorie log on www.livestrong.com/myplate. I have lost almost 60 lbs in six months WITHOUT starving myself and without feeling like I'm depriving myself of anything.

You learn what foods are calorie dense and which ones aren't, and you go for the ones that aren't. For instance - a dill pickle (or a fresh cucumber) will only be about TEN calories. A spinach salad (4-5 cups of spinach, 1 tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese, and 1-2 servings of "salad spritzer" dressing such as Hellman's Balsamic Breeze) runs only SIXTY calories.

If you want a low calorie burger or chicken sandwich, imitation meat patties from Morningstar Farms are WAY better than Boca burgers, and they really do taste great. There are even 80 calorie buns from Sara Lee. I also found 35 calorie hot dogs from Oscar Meyer that taste totally normal.

I don't eat foods that I don't like, and I've still found plenty of healthy ways to satisfy my food cravings. If I want pizza, I get thin crust. If I want ice cream, I get frozen yogurt. There are SO many options out there. Don't quit eating. That's a recipe for disaster.

Is it bad to starve yourself?

yes it is. it will not help.here are some factsYou Won't be Able to Exercise as Well How can you kill it at the gym if you don’t have any energy? "There have been studies on athletes doing intermittent fasting during Ramadan, and their performance actually suffers," says Ansel. Plus, if you're dragging, you're less likely to be vigilant about your form and may set yourself up for an injury. It's Harder to Sleep "I see some sleep issues with clients who don't eat enough during the day," says Ansel. The reasoning is simple: They get so hungry, their bodies keep waking them up. "Sometimes, they even get out of bed at 1 or 2 in the morning so they can finally have something to eat," says Ansel. Sounds like the opposite of a good night's rest, right? Not Eating Equals Terrible Breath Here's a pretty persuasive argument against over-restricting: "If your body isn't getting the carbs it needs for energy, you'll burn fat," says Ansel. "It sounds great, but if you're only burning fat you go into this state called ketosis." And when you're in ketosis, you produce compounds called ketone bodies that cause gross breath. This process happens pretty quickly, too. "If you skip breakfast, it may start to kick in by lunchtime," says Ansel. You Won't Be Able to Think Clearly Brains can't run on all cylinders without proper nourishment, says Ansel. Your brain uses about 25 percent of your body's glucose, so if you aren't getting enough, it'll be running on fumes. "You're going to be tired, crabby, have headaches, and probably not going to work very well," says Ansel. It Makes a Binge Pretty Much Inevitable We all know that if you don't eat, you probably won't be able to control yourself later on. The sneaky thing about this that you may not realize is how easily it can become a cycle. Picture this: You don't eat all day long. By the end of the day, your body's demanding immediate calories rather than the ones you stored from last night. You'll give in and eat a ton, but the next morning you wake up and aren’t hungry. Pretty quickly, this effect can end up pushing your entire eating schedule back. "I see a lot of people who become used to not eating until noon or 1 p.m., then they eat tremendous amounts at night," says My friend. To avoid this outcome, have something light in the morning after overeating, even if it's just a yogurt.

Honestly, how bad is starving yourself?

starving your self will slow the metabolism excessively and cause you to get fatter much easier, I would know, that and all that mountain dew i drank...luckily i switched to water and dropped like 30-40lbs in a month and a half o.o, but im a guy so guys lose it faster I guess (didn't exercise LOL) I ate normal proportioned meals too, like a small breakfast a really small lunch and then a normal sized dinner :P, and your likely not fat, not like me anyway @.@ but I don't care about my weight cause I don't look it O.o Probably cause i'm 6'4 in height LOL. seriously though your likely not fat, you just think you are if you had someone there to support you and someone to tell you other wise you'd probably feel a lot better for yourself.

Is it true that starving yourself can make you gain weight? How?

No. People in prison camps or in the midst of famines never come out chubbier. What people mean when they say that sort of thing (“your metabolism will slow down”) is that when you starve yourself — meaning you eat far less calories than you need for your basal metabolism (the energy your body needs simply to keep itself alive, heated, and breathing) and your activities — you will feel miserable, you will want to move less, you will move less, and when you do move, you will move much more slowly. Even the speed of your eye-blinks will slow down. What happens when your activity level slows down? Your net energy balance increases (you end up burning something closer to the lower levels of energy that you are ingesting), and your weight loss rate slows down. That’s why most everybody who has a clue about this will tell you that there is such a thing as too little calories (the absolute minimum should be around 1300 for smaller people, and more like 1700 for larger people), and that you should shoot for a 500–1,000 calorie deficit - so if you burn 3,000 per day, you eat 2,000–2,500 per day - that’s sustainable, healthy, and you will have plenty of energy to work and exercise.

Can starving yourself stop your period?

Changes in your diet can in fact change when you get your period and how long it lasts. But it's not fool-proof, and starving yourself isn't very good for you lol.

If you're on birth control, what you should do is start taking your next month of pills right away, instead of taking the last week of inactive pills in your pack. This will make you skip your period, and it's safe. My doctors told me that it's okay to do this if you're going on vacation or something and your period week is the week you're going. Finish your three weeks of active pills, and then the next day just start taking a new month's pills instead of taking your 4th week of inactive pills. You might still be a little crampy and pms-y, but you shouldn't actually bleed. Your next period will probably be heavier though.

If starving yourself "doesn't" work, then how do anorexic people get so skinny?

Of course, if you literally starve yourself... like anorexics do... you WILL lose weight. The body needs food to build muscle, replace organs and tissue, and generally function the way the body is intended to function. Anorexics don't just temporarily stop eating (or come close to stopping eating), they starve themselves EVERY SINGLE DAY... week after week, month after month. It can go on for YEARS if they don't get help. Their bodies just shrivel up and shrink away.

When you hear/read people saying, "Starving yourself doesn't work in 'dieting,'" they are referring to skipping meals or eating super small meals... that sort of thing... for short periods of time. And they are right. You see, you actually NEED food to lose weight because it keeps up your metabolism, which is like your body's furnace. A high metabolism burns food more efficiently. When you starve yourself, your body shifts into a survival mode where it holds on to whatever calories you do take in... in anticipation of your next starvation period. Also when you starve yourself, your body starts breaking down your muscles to get access to the energy in them. As your muscles waste away, it effects your metabolism.

They say it's bad to starve yourself, but isn't that what gastric bypass surgery does?

actually, no. I've actually had gastric bypass surgery in february of last year and I've lost almost 200 lbs. it does not make you starve yourself, it just makes your stomach smaller, therefore, when you eat you have to have smaller portions of food. But you have to eat every 2 hours, or you'll feel bloated.
