How often do you upgrade your pc?

Can i upgrade my pc from i3 to i5 or i7 with the same motherboard?
i have a lenovo h420 pc and i would like to upgrade it to an i5 or i7 but i don't know if the motherboard will support the cpu change.. the motherboard is made by lenovo and i can't find any specification anywhere... please help....?!

Does my computer still need an upgrade? I'm becoming a computer gamer, but I'm having issues with most games on my computer. There's this terrible screen tearing that happens when I turn off vsync. When I turn it on however the screen tearing goes away, but I'm left with very slow mouse movement and very slow character movement. The games I've been testing have been scribblenauts unlimited and portal 2. Now I'm wondering if I still need an upgrade. Today I went and changed graphics cards to a more expensive and better card. I'm still having these issues and I'm not sure if my screen isn't refreshing fast enough with my computer or if something else is conflicting. I'll list my specs below please let me know what you think it'd be great.
