I Was Fined On The San Ysidro Highway For Not Having Change Where Can I Check For The Amount And

What are my chances of getting into UCLA? 10 points.?

Your leadership makes you stand out. I agree with Chloe that you look good on paper. Make sure that you go through your application with a fine tooth comb to remove potential spelling and grammar errors. Submitting an application with errors makes you look bad whether you are Californian or not.

Never opt for undecided. It eliminates your application from many scholarship opportunities. Choose a major. It will not matter if you change majors a year down the road, but selecting a major now will put you in the running for some scholarships.

Look at their scholarship page for entering freshman to see what you might qualify for there. Pay attention to deadlines for the ones that you might be eligible for so that you get them in on time. http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/src/DUE/...

Be aware that there may be a few scholarships that you are eligible for if you apply early into your senior year of high school. My daughters do not attend UCLA since we live in the midwest, but all of the colleges that they applied to before November 1st offered them scholarships based on their ACT scores and GPAs. That might hold true for UCLA also...I am not sure.

Good Luck!

Has anyone received a speeding ticket over 100mph in San Diego, CA? What was your punishment?

If you get convicted of the 22348(b), the statewide scheduled fine is $760, it is 2 points with DMV, and the court can suspend your license for up to 30 days. If you get convicted only of 22356(b), since you were more than 25 mph over the limit, the scheduled fine is $380, and it is one point on your record. Obviously, you want to see if you can plead guilty to the 22356 charge, and have the prosecutor dismiss the 22348.

You will have to go to court, appearance is mandatory on a 22348, and you should find out who you can speak to regarding the charge. If your record is otherwise clean, you might get a break. But don't try to pass off the idea that you were somehow "trapped" into going 103.

Going to court to fight a red light ticket. What can I expect to happen?

I beat the ticket. Found not guilty. My advice:
Dress appropriately (I was the only one there in a shirt and tie), make eye contact with the judge. Follow all responses to the judge with “your honor,” “Sir” or “Ma’am,” depending on male/female. Contrary to the responses below… DO defend yourself in a respectful and professional manner. DO NOT get fired up or irritated. Come prepared with a witness (if any) even if the witness is your significant other or family member… it helps. Bring pictures, photos, anything that will help you. My greatest misconception heading into court was that it would be the officer and the judge against me. Not the case. It’s the judge balancing the officer’s statement vs. your statement. If the officer is sloppy or second guesses his/her story, the judge WILL call them out on it and show no mercy or favoritism. Anyhow, the point is if you feel you truly are innocent, fight it. You have the right and it can pay off (as it did in my case).

Motorcycle How to Fight Ticket 2165518 a For Crossing Double Yellows When Exiting HOV aka Carpool Lane?

What happened:
- Not speeding (ticket says 70MPH in 65MPH zone, not cited for speeding) on 210 West.
- Vehicle in front driving at a slower speed, I begin to pass within lane (sharing, which is legal, without using blinker)
- Vehicle slows without braking and starts gradually coming closer to me.
- I pass on right with both of my tires on the yellow line farthest to the left of the 2 yellow lines.
- As I pass I notice a CHP car in the left emergency lane on a walkie-talkie, shouting loudly while looking at me (I wave lol).
- At the white dotted line I exit the carpool / HOV using blinkers, necessary time between lane changing, exit freeway (All of which was done legally); I make a right turn off the freeway off-ramp.
- Notice CHP motorcyclist behind me with emergency lights illuminated, I pull over.
- Says I crossed the double yellows multiple times and was unsafe to have done so with his buddy pulled over in the emergency lane.

What can I do to fight this? Technically I did not CROSS the double yellows, nearly had my tires over one line to avoid an accident (vehicle was probably slowing down to avoid/slow down for the CHP car officer in the emergency lane, which was obstructed due to the vehicle in my lane being a large SUV) Furthermore, if indeed I had crossed the double yellow lines and did not use by turn signals. shouldn't I have been cited for not using them; is this a valid point to bring up to help backup/solidify my side that I did not cross the double yellows?

How does getting a parking ticket affect your driving record and your insurance premiums?

Most of the times, it is only Driving Violations like speeding, tailgating, wreck less operation, DUI or DWI and rash of accidents that are your fault that really effect your insurance.  Exceptions might be due how hard it is or it is not to get a parking space and the amount and or frequency of your tickets. Usually, even with those that are newly insured, they have no rise policy for those that experience an accident now and then.  If your parking tickets are now and then and you have a generally good relationship with your agent, parking tickets would not be detrimental.

Question about driving on California freeways?

I'm from upstate NY and been out in SoCalif since the 8th and I have to say I loved it. One question though. On the freeways, just about any of them, especially the i10, no one goes the speed limit. Literally ever vehicle was going well over 55mph. Most cars were going 80MPH. At one point I was doing 70mph, a CHP passed me and I never got stopped, no one got stopped, not even motorcycles who were cutting in between cars and squeezing through. So I did what everyone else and did the 80mph drive most of the time I was here. Is this normal to be going so fast instead of 55?

Certainly in Upstate NY you would be stopped for these things.

Is it legal to drive at 80 mph if everyone is driving at that same speed, even though the posted speed limit is 65 mph?

It isn’t legal to drive over the speed limit, but if everybody is going 80 mph, you only get a ticket if you’re the one caught, and the officer can only pull over the one at the back of the line. Make sure there’s somebody else behind you going the same speed and you’ll be good. Call that car your friend, the ticket insurance policy. Unless that car behind you is a police car.If there is a police car behind you and it’s light are not flashing, ease off the accelerator, but do not brake. This will discreetly slow you down. If a bunch of other people are noticeably going faster than you before he clocks your speed, he will pass you to track somebody else.If the car behind you is a police car with its lights flashing, pull over when it is safe to do so. Believe it or not, if you are in the left lane on the freeway, they prefer that you pull over to the left shoulder, since this allows them to approach the driver’s side of your car more safely. The officer will ask you how fast you were going. Tell him you were going about the same speed as everybody else. This will lead to a conversation. The bottom line is, if you were going a safe speed (about the same as the other cars you were with) you shouldn’t get a ticket. No matter what happens, be polite. If the officer gives you a ticket, you can go to court to defend your position. They usually pull over a car that is going noticeably faster than everybody else, and in this case you will get a ticket and you should just pay the fine, but sometimes an officer will pull a car out of a group of cars that are all going 80 because he has to meet a quota or something, or maybe he’s hoping the driver will pay the fine without challenging the ticket.

Double Yellow Crossing Ticket?

My husband (who was driving) and I were driving up to Fullerton, CA from San Diego, CA to visit our sick cat in the hospital. We always take this route due to family lives in the area and we visit almost every weekend: from the 15 to the 52 to the 805 then goes to the 5 then the 57 where we get off at Orangethorape and we ALWAYS take the carpool lane because it is much faster, especially at 2:30pm on a friday. Well close to our final destination (on the 57 freeway near Lincoln)my husband gets pulled over for crossing a double yellow (at Ball Rd a few exits from the 5 that has a blocked carpool). During our trip, not once did we merge out of the carpool lane and/or merge in to the carpool lane on the 57 freeway; especially since our exit was still a good 10 mins away around this area.

When the officer pulled us over we several times had to correct mistakes that he was making. For example, he asked us why we did not have insurance on the vehicle we were driving, we explained it was a loaner car since our car was in the shop. On the ticket he said it was my car and I did not have insurance on the vehicle. I looked at the officer and explained that I was handicapped and was unable to drive for the past 4months and will not be driving a car for a very long long long time, and again repeated this was not our car but a loaner vehicle. He looked at me and said oh I did not hear you (even though I was right next to his ear). Then he kept getting the make of the car wrong even when we spelled it out for him (Club MAN). He put down Coorben.

Anyways that is making a long story short, I would like to know what we could do since we are more than 100% sure we did not violate any laws and also where we might ask for a videotape evidence of our violation, if there is one. Thanks
