I Would Do Anything To Not Go To Public School Anymore

Public School vs Online School?

The online school my daughter attends IS a public school. Each state has their own schools, so unless you tell us what state you live in it's hard to make a recommendation. But I suggest you do your own research anyway. What I did was collected the names of the main online schools in my area then went to my state's Department of Education website and looked up their ratings. I chose the school with the highest ratings. And that's it.

Our school uses the K12 curriculum. If you're interested in checking it out you can go to K12.com and they will give you a list of schools in your state that use them.

I don't want to be homeschooled anymore?

Well, why don't you ask them why they don't want you to go?

If you want to convince them, first you need to know what their objections are. If you don't know what they are, how can you overcome them?

Second, you need to hear them out. They are your parents, and they have reasons for the decisions they make. You may not like or agree with those decisions, but at the end of the day, it is your parents' job to make them.

Third, why do you want to go to school? What do you think the benefits will be? Are you just curious about what school is like, or are there opportunities there that you can't access now? Be honest with your parents. It doesn't sound like you've talked with them, or if you have, like you've given them any other reason than "I wanna go".

Talk with them. Find out what their reasons are, and share yours with them. There honestly may be things about your local schools that you're not aware of (hence their decision), but at the same time, they probably aren't aware of your reasons. This is something that you need to be honest and open with them about. You can't manipulate them or "make" them do it, but you can show responsibility by being up-front about it.

Hope that helps!

I don't want to go to public school anymore?

I've been homeschooled for 2 years. I'm 14 year old and I'm in the 8th grade now. I was homeschooling when I was a sixth grade and the seventh grade. I go back to public school because my mom wants me to have friends in school. But, I have social anxiety disorder. I don't have social life for several years. I don't talk to my friends a lot since 3rd grade. Going to school make me depressed and stressful. I've missed too much school because I'm sick and depressed. I tried to convinced my mom let me to do online school. I really really really want to do online school! I told my counselor, parents, and principal that I want to do online school but they didn't took me seriously. My parents told me that I will get used to it. I can't stand it anymore! I really really don't want to go to public school!!!!! Help me please?!

I want to go to public school but my mom doesn't want me to?

You don't have to go to public schools to be social if that's the only reason you want to go back. Public schools anymore are really trashy. I finished up my 8th grade year at public school and I'm never going back. Here are some reasons.
1: At home you can get a better education. Anymore all the teachers care about is you passing your state testing so they can get bigger paychecks. I'm not saying all of them are like that, but most are.
2: Really trashy things have been going on in the schools. I live in a really small town of about 2,500 and just a month or so ago there was a meth lab bust involving a lot of the high school students. They had to bring the drug dogs into all the schools and took a total of 20 highschoolers into custody. At the middle school this girl I know brought alchohol candy to school and was giving it to people claiming it was just regular candy and he got suspended for a few months. And I don't get bullied much, but when I do it's really bad and rumors spread fast wether they are true or not and let me tell you they will never forget them either. Something happend last year in 7th grade when I went to a different school than this year and someone started a rumor that I was a lesbian and stupid stuff and somehow it followed me to the school I went to this year and I got picked on about it on and off all year.

So I'm not a huge fan of online schools, but that was my first option until my mom opted for unschooling because it was what I wanted. The point is you don't have to be in public schools to be socially active. Do you like sports? If so you should be allowed to join your public schools sports teams if you homeschool. You could also go to your library and see if they have any club type things. Your library might also have a community bulletin board where you could find some volunteer oportunities. Or you could even just go walk around town and find someone around your age and just start talking to them. The only thing stopping you from making friends is yourself. There is also church groups. I don't know how you feel about that kind of stuff, but my family are big church goers. If you really want to go back to public school just talk to your mom about it, but I really encourage you to think about staying with homeschooling. Also if you go on google and googl (your area) homeschooling groups you could find a homeschooling group to join and make some friends there. I hope I helped (:

How do I tell my mom don't want to be homeschooled anymore?

TELL HER THAT YOU WANT TO SOCIALIZE WITH OTHER KIDS AND SEE HOW IT FEELS TO BE IN A SCHOOL WITH OTHER CHILDREN, AND THAT YOU HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN A SCHOOL SUCH AS PLAYING FOOTBALL,BASEBALL,BASKETBALL, OR WHATEVER SPORT YOU LIKE PLAYING. TELL HER YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE WHAT OTHER KIDS EXPERIENCE COZ U THINK YOU ARE MISSING OUT AND WHEN YOU GROW UP AND READY TO MOVE OUT, IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO ADJUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THE LIFE OUTSIDE "HOME" IF SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND TRY TELLING ANOTHER PERSON WHO IS CLOSE TO YOU OR HER, LIKE AN AUNT OR UNCLE OR EVEN ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS TO TALK TO HER...ALL THE BEST!

What, if anything, is worse than mandatory public education?

I'm sorry, but I can't accept your premise.  I see nothing immoral about changing ones religion and I doubt that the change from religious to non religious has anything to do with mandatory education.  In fact, if I were to blame anything modern, I would blame modern media (radio, tv, and internet).  Not because it is inherently biased against religious folk, but because it is more entertaining and can provide a more stimulating community.  Both community and entertainment were great reasons to go to religious services before the dawn of modern media, having lost that enterance into the household religion is naturally retreating to its stronghold of the true believers and ceding control of the hearts and minds of the casual believer to modern media. Now if we stopped mandatory education to protect religion all that would happen is we would create a new lower class made up of the religious and those too poor to send their kids to private school.  Which wouldn't be better for religious people.  Sorry, but if religion is important to you and yours it is your responsibility to engage your children in such a way that they feel embraced by the community and more entertained by religion than modern media.  It must also be done without false choices, like banning media in your house, or you risk losing them when they hit adulthood and start making their own decisions.

What would happen if we got rid of public schools and mandatory education?

Well many kids are already lazy and a lot of parents don't have the extra money to send their children to a private school. Honestly the gap between rich and poor would become even wider and would be a lot of famine and death as the generations progress. We would probably end up as a third world country (which, go figure, most of those provide FREE PUBLIC education, provided the kids are in an area where they can get to the schools). Things that are popular here would probably pull away from the US as they would not have as much of a market here (less people to buy things, less people with money), a lot of potential jobs that provide income and work for this country would pull out and move to other countries (less educated people, less employees to work, less income coming in) .Just to put in perspective: Google, Apple, Samsung, all have warehouses here and require most people, at minimum, to have a high school education, even at entry level. Hundreds of thousands of people work at these places and many of them grew up in public schools. If they don't have the employees, they aren't going to stay here. Also, their employees are part of their sales. They buy their items, so less income, they may not sell them at all.Fast food: every place I've ever seen required a high school diploma at minimum. Between them, they have millions of employees, almost all of which are recent graduates from PUBLIC education. No employees means no people having the money to buy their food and no one to work for them. They aren't going to want to hire people that have no education, no social experience, etc. There will be no fast food and likely no major chain restaurants.Sports teams: many sport team members started out learning the sports and perfecting their skills in middle or high school. Many of them (as you can read their biographies) started with little to no money living in crappy conditions. Only after people discovered their skills were they later recruited to colleges and finally on the fields. There are many more examples but I have food sitting in front of me now, but I think you can see the picture here.

Do children who attend the public school system in the U.S. take the IQ test?

Depending on the state they are given a cognitive level test or IQ tests in elementary school. Often the Iowa Test of Basic Skills is used although it is a cognitive skill level (what you have learned) rather than IQ test (what you have the capability of learning). It is part of the criteria for gifted education in most states. I don’t know what score my son received (He was identified as a gifted student). However, I had my daughter tested for dyslexia outside of school, and then in school to receive special services, so I was given the results of WISC and Woodcock Johnson tests for IQ.You can ask as the school system probably has them. But I wouldn’t worry about it. If it was low, your parents would probably contacted to consider special services. My daughters was initial scores were average and therefore they didn’t know how bad her reading problem was.
