If U Want To Be A Singer Is Hate And Criticism Something Most Singers Have To Go Through

I want to be a singer?

Since i was little, ive always wanted to become a singer. Its been such adream for me, and i want to make it a reality. Ive been thinking of trying out for maybe american idol or the voice and somewhat thinking about starting to make my own songs and sending them to record companies. Ive been taking voice lessons for a while, but ive been singing most of my life, and even up to this point. Im still a teen, so im pretty young. My voice has been described as being good and having just about perfect pitch. Im also pretty good at the piano. Ive also started joining performing arts clubs in hopes of improving more. Anyways, my parents keep enforcing me to become a doctor or a lawyer, just because all of my family is like that. Im pretty much the black sheep with this "delusional dream". They keep saying its such a good job that earbs so much money, but i dont care about money! Of course its important, but those jobs wont make me happy: only music will. My brother knows theyll say no yo what i want to do, but hes one of the only people who has some confidence in what i want to do. Im a shy person, but i love singing my heart out: but i cant in front of my parents because of this problem and because theyre intimidating (especially my mom, who is such a harsh critic, like simon cowell harsh) and because i know they think that music is just an extracuricular and that although nice, is just an extra telent for me. I recently asked my parents about auditioning for one of those shows, and then they asked me if i was joking. When i told them i was serious, they asked me if i was good at anything like that and condescended me till i just decided to shut up and go along with it and say no. I feel horrible. Theyre doing everything possible to make sure i become something in medicine or law or something- even if theyll have to move heaven and earth! Ive never actually talked to them about what i really want to do, because im so sure theyll just reject me and babble aour money and how stupid i would be for wanting this. I know the chances are really small... But i want to give it a shot.

Should i finally confront my parents? Should i give up? What are the chances of making it? Whatcan i do to make it? Basically, what should i do?

Im sorry this is so long, and thanks so much for reading and, if you leave one, an answer.

How to critique my own singing?

I'm really into singing and I want to do covers of songs. I sing using GarageBand on my iPad, and I usually sing acapella just so that I can hear my voice better and not have to worry about the music. I want to know how I can critique my own recorded voice, like what types of things should I be looking for? Pitch, control, etc.? And how can I improve myself? I want to be picky with myself so I can be the best that I can be, thank you!

Why do i hate my own singing voice?

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially if you want to improve your voice.
Self-criticism is a pretty good motivational factor when it comes to improving.. anything about yourself really.
Now, hate however is a strong word.. I much prefer "dislike in it's current state." In that mindset, you'll find it much easier to address any issues you have with your voice and work on improving them to your liking (if you wanted to).
And as mentioned in other answers, to really hear yourself you have to record yourself singing and listen carefully with a positive attitude. If you listen while thinking you sound like crap, that's all you're going to hear.
If your only intention is to change your view on your voice, just listen to recordings of yourself more often. You'll start to pick out things that sound good to you and will probably improve your singing along the way just by making minor adjustments to things you hear.
Also, find someone you trust to give you an honest answer about your voice. Honest feedback is very important.

I really badly want to be a singer but im scared of posting videos e.g youtube?

you have to decide whats important to you; what people think, or pursuing singing. trust me, if you want to have a singing career, or anything to do with youtube and videos, your gonna eventually get hate. but if your friends and family have told you that you're a good singer then you know you're gonna have that support when you do start getting hate. but also make sure you can handle ay hate that you get because if your gonna quit after getting one bad comment, then don't even start.

Why do a lot of professional singers hate Atif Aslam?

I got a chance to hear Abhijeet's absolutely deplorable comments about Atif Aslam on a television reality show. I've always been a fan of Abhijeet's voice but his attitude was something questionable. I guess he is more frustrated by the fact that the songs going out to Atif Aslam should have come his way. How else can you expect something like this-"It's a shame that you guys (referring to the participants) get nothing and off-tune singers (obvious reference to Atif Aslam) who rely on good music and technology to better their voices have all the good luck. Singing such songs is a disgrace both to me as well as the show."This, and a little more, was Abhijeet's response when a participant sang Atif's megahit song "O Jaane Jaan." My only regret is the way Abhijeet put it. There are more civilised ways of communicating your frustrations. Himesh did something similar when he said that R D Burman also had a nasal voice. Look where he is now!If reality shows stoop to such low levels of publicity then the future doesn't look promising. And Abhijeet is not alone. Sunidhi Chauhan considers Atif to be the most over rated singer and says, "he can't sing." She said it on IBN Live in an interview. Both Sunidhi and Abhijeet forgot one basic thing - 'why are the people loving him if he can't sing?' For sure you can't enjoy something you don't like. Abhijeet may be a better singer than Atif but that's no reason to say that Atif can't sing! I like his voice and so do many of my friends. Period!

Can I become a singer if I don't have a good voice?

There are some things to considerAlmost everyone hates his/her own voice. In most cases yes. Cause when you talk you listen your voice from coming from your head (closely). But when you record it on something, then play it, it sounds a lot worse than the voice you listen you hear coming from your head. So, your voice may sound like weird when you record it on something. But everybody else who usually listen your voice won’t find it bad as you do. So, you can’t say for sure if a voice is good or bad.The voice is an important thing. But vocal/singing technique is even more important. I am not a singer, but I have seen some people singing good even though they don’t have good voice. Sometimes good singing technique could make your song a lot better. So, train yourself for having a good vocal. A lot of people have good voice, but they can’t sing cause they can’t hold notes properly.Sometimes singing style also matters. If you’re singing ballad. You got to have voice like slow, warm, thin. Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Klaus Meine, Paul McCartney etc. If you wanna sing metal you gotta have strong powerful voice. Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Hansi Kürsch etc. If you want to growl then you gotta have harsh voice. Chuck Schuldiner, Mikael Åkerfeldt, Muhammed Suiçmez. So, each singer has his/her own kind of voice according to his/her style. Apart from genres, sometimes good balance of singing could make a song better. For example Ozzy Osborune. I think he really have a weak voice. His singing isn’t that better. But his sung song on Crazy Train was awesome. Cause it had a good rhythm. There are lots of singers who have bad voice. They simply can’t sing or have bad voice. For example Billie Joe Armstrong, Geddy Lee, Bob Dylan, Dave Mustaine etc. But they do sing, don’t they? They’re also famous. So, consider the points I’ve mentioned above you should decide by yourself whether or how could you sing.
