Is it a violation of policy to ask only top writers to answer questions?

Is it a violation of policy to ask only top writers to answer questions?I have not read any policy regarding whom one should request answers from. I do know that it pays to research the profiles of the people from whom one requests answers. You get only so many request opportunities and if you waste half of them on people who don’t know the answer, and another batch on people who aren’t interested in your topic, and the rest on people who have already answered a lot of similar questions, you are unlikely to get a single answer.I suggest reading this blog post: Request Answers w/ Results

Is answering yes or no to a yes-or-no question a violation?

You need to understand that this does not mean that all yes-or-no questions are automatically ok because some are. If someone has a question that truly follows the Guidelines and still requires a yes-or-no answer, it's ok to answer it with 'yes' or 'no.'

Please be aware that most (at least 99%) of these yes-or-no questions are chat violations. Answering a question that is, itself, a violation almost guarantees that your answer will be one, too.

Violation notifications at yahoo answers..?

ive had well over 15 violation notifications here at yahoo answers, now i getting worried..can they close your account here for those reasons, i never use bad language or threaten people but i do addmit some of my answers are jokes for example some one said they have lost their product key, and i answered..is it under the door matt and i got a violation notice

I had a Yahoo Answers violation for asking a illegal immigration question? Why?

Because yahoo when they receive an abuse report automatically pull your question or answer. In a since they convict you without a trial on the testimony of one person, who often is just doing it out of spite. Only after you write and complain do they investigate the matter, however, they err on the extreme side of caution and if you said the sun was red instead of yellow your question/answer is still deleted.

This in a very really since is the worst part of yahoo answers. Someone may post a valid question that will generate a far range of responses and someone will not like one of the answers so they report it.

My example is a girl asked for help on advice to give to her father who was searching for a 20 year anniversary gift for her mother. She stated the budget was $200.00.

I answered that he could get perhaps 3 bouquets of flowers but really he is kinda cheap after 20 years spending just 200 bucks. He should shoot for the moon and get her a new car or take her on a vaction to Italy. Something really nice and show that the last 20 years means more than just a small percentage of one paycheck. And even if the date is fast approaching, he could still get a loan for the car or he could plan the trip and buget to save for it, and show his wife the reservations during a romantic meal.

That person found my answer offensive. Well how can you ask a question and expect an honest answer without the chance of being offended. If I asked hey am I ugly and posted a picture, I would be opening myself up to be offended..........

That is the major flaw in yahoo answers. You cannot answer a question truthfully withough having to baby down your response and make it ultra PC.

Is answering a question on Quora with a product recommendation a violation of Quora's TOS?

Lots of answers have included recommendations for specific products. But you have to be sure you are answering the question, not just pushing a product. So you can say, “X phone is a good balance between flexibility and simplicity. You give up features a, b, and c, but you still have features u, v, and w - which I think are the most important.” That is, tell why you are recommending the product and make fair comparisons to other products.Avoid, “My stock tips will make you rich overnight. Go to my web site and sign up now!”

Is it a violation of Quoran etiquette to move my own answer to a question that it better fits?

No, but it would be best to leave the original and copy it, but edit both copies to tailor them to fit their respective questions. Also, consider cross-linking each answer to the other question: the reader will probably be interested in both.Or merge the questions?Someone will do it, and probably someone will undo it …Of course, the cross-link may end up linking back to the same question, which gets confusing: one for the merge-bot to sort out?See What is Quora's policy on plagiarism and attribution?Re-using your own answer may trigger a ‘plagiarism’ complaint, but that is probably a mistake: appeal?Copying and pasting the same answer to every question will get you reported for ‘spam’.What is the policy for using the same answer for multiple questions on Quora? Is it bad to reuse answers on Quora?

What entitled you to change my question after it was answered? Should this not happen? Is it a violation?

What entitles you to change a question after it is answered? This is a violation, and should not happen. In my opinion…The fact that a person submits a question, means s/he can pretty much do with that question what s/he pleases. Whether someone asks a question in order to gain understanding, or just to piss someone else off… it remains their prerogative. (It is his or her question).Sometimes also, someone else might feel that a question is better structured in a certain way by applying their own logic. The end result is sometimes for “better”, sometimes for “worse”. (To continually make judgement calls on someone else’s judgements will drive me crazy).I can decide to either answer the question or not. THAT is my choice. However, in answering the question, I automatically agree to the “rules”…one of which allows for a question to be changed. (Should someone change the question, I can then either edit my answer, delete my answer, or leave it be).I can understand that this causes upset and frustration. I just find it much simpler to focus on myself and how I handle the situation, than to worry about how the other 6,999,999,999 people should handle the situation. (This is the only realistic way that ensures Peace)For this reason, I usually add the original question as a “quote” in my answer (as above), so that people can see which question I in fact answered.

If someone answers your question and then provides a link to their site where they sell the subject products is that a violation?

Yes, Quora considers that spam. What you can do is mention your business or site in your credential, if it's appropriate to the question. You must always answer the question. You can say, “see my profile for more information about this topic” and tell about your site on your profile. No multiple links or multiple photos etc in your profile. If your only purpose for being on Quora is to get business, your profile will get reported as spam.
