Is Fast Food Restaurants Really That Bad For You

Is working at a fast food restaurant really that bad?

It depends on the fast-food restaurant really. Some are much more popular, much busier, especially during certain times of the day. Ones with drive through's are ones which tend to get real hectic. Also ones in which you have to fry food is busier.

Now I work at Subway, so we don't have a drive through, and we don't really fry or actually COOK anything, everything is pre-cooked. So it's much easier for us. It does have it's busy times of day and stuff we have to do (prepping vegetables, meats, sauces, etc.). But after working a year and a half, my wage has gone from the minimum, $9.65 (where do you live? $7.25 is quite a low minimum wage) to $10.10. So it depends, but I'd have to say each one has it's one perks and downs.

Which fast food restaurant is the least bad for you?

i myself consider subway to be fast food but whatever. In n Out is good but they don't have those everywhere. Wendy's is supposedly all fresh meat never frozen, but I think it's still really fatty. I guess they all kind of are. I can't really tell you the best. But I can tell you the worst. McDonald's and Jack in the Box have the lowest quality, fattiest food. Taco Bell isn't totally fatty but it's low quality. Whataburger and Hardee's (or Carl's Junior in some places) make some pretty good food, I don't know how fattening it is but it doesn't taste too fatty or greasy. In any case, every fast food restaurant has to have the nutrition facts written on the wall. Haven't oyu ever seen "supersize me"?

Is fast food really bad?

The vegetables do not outweigh how unhealthy the ground beef and chicken fast food restaurants use. The are only like two tomatoes, one leaf of iceberg lettuce, and two pickles typically on the sandwhiches. Two tomatoes really don't give you that much nutrition. Iceberg lettuce, while it is not fattening, does not give any nutrition because it is pretty much the worse quality lettuce and is like having water. The two pickles give even less nutrition than the tomatoes do and they are usually small, so they barely have any nutritional value. While the ground beef patty is loaded with fat and the chicken is usually in a fried batter which makes it fattening. However, the chicken could be healthy if it was grilled and you don't get the mayonaise, thousand island or any other fattening condiment, but there will probably be like only one grilled chicken sandwhich on the menu. You can go to on fast food restaurants websites and get the nutritional information for their food and you can see how bad it is for yourself. In high school my health teacher had us put down how many calories is in what we normally order at fast food restaurants. I did Mc Donalds and found that for a medium french fries, medium soda, and Big Mac it was a little over 1000 calories. Super Size Me and one of the last chapters of Fast Food Nation will also tell you how bad it is for you.

What is the worst fast food restaurant?

My first A2A, yay! Hope I do right by you. Before I even start, let me say up front that everything that follows is strictly my opinion. People are going to disagree with me, and that’s fine. Not everyone is going to agree on everything. Now, having said that….My pick for the worst fast food….McDonald’s.To me it’s just bland, tasteless garbage. If I’m out and about I will go just about anyplace else before I will go there. (Although I *do* like their French fries…. really about the only thing on the food menu that has a little bit of taste to it)Some people will disagree and say Burger King, but the biggest problem I have with them is inconsistency from location to location. You wouldn’t think that would be a problem, but apparently training standards are wildly variable, and that reflects in the food quality. But a Whopper at least has some flavor to it, at least most of the time.If I want a burger, I go to the grocery store and get either a pound or two of ground beef (80/20) or a package of premade fresh patties, buns, and whatever toppings I want. I can cook a better burger on my stove or barbecue grill than I can get in a fast food joint just as fast, and it’s a hell of a lot tastier (plus I know what goes into it, which I can’t say for fast food joints). And if I decide I just HAVE to have a Mac, I’ll do the above plus look up a recipe for a reasonable facsimile of Mac sauce and put that on it.Hope this helps.EDIT: After reading another Quoran’s answer to this, I wish to state for the record that my answer was based solely on taste and food quality; nutritional value (or more appropriately, lack thereof) did not enter into it. I rarely eat out anymore simply because I can cook more healthy and tastier foods at home that far outshine anything I can get at a fast food place, and are better for you at the same time.

Is fast food really that bad for you?

Yes! Omg lmao. I used to eat it all day long and I can't believe how much better I feel now that I don't eat any of it! It's all crap, and if you look up the nutrition facts it's filled with carbs, calories and fat. There are some things that you can get that at those places (healthy alternatives), but you're just damaging your body with all that garbage. Get some organic produce XD Better yet, do a fast-food-fast (i.e. don't eat it) for 2 weeks, then decide on how much better you feel whether you feel it was affecting you. Btw, if you eat equally bad for you stuff at home during that time, it doesn't count because you're not helping yourself at all.

Are fast food jobs really that bad?

i don't think it is that bad, unless you are a grown man or woman. i mean a fast food job is acceptable for teenagers; high schoolers and college students; who need a part time job for some extra cash. if you are a grown man or woman, it won't help you however. the pay is too low for bills and life necessities like food and water and shelter. it is really unattractive and you will have a hard time finding relationships (unless of course your partner is in the same work field as you, fast food) and it is really degrading and not good for your confidence. i am 14 and i will be working at a mcdonalds near my neighborhood for some extra cash for luxury items 2 years later. good luck!

can you answer my question?:)

Why did Jamie Oliver's restaurants fail? Was the food really that bad?

To be honest, I hadn't realised they were failing! But, reading many of the other answers would definitely make me think Jamie Oliver's restaurants are ALL failing….Which has led me to putting in my two pence as it were (I used to say 2 cents when I was living in the Caribbean, same difference really).I have been to 3 of Jamie's restaurants— two of them I have been to regularly.I visited Jamie's Italian in Gatwick Airport…solely because it had the shortest line out of all the other restaurants…it was a mad time! We had fish and chips for lunch, service was great despite the extreme business, price wise it was a bit steep however we knew it would be. I admit, I was still hungry- might have been the saltiness of the fish.A few years later, I took my mother and sister to Jamie's Italian in Westfield (Stratford). The server was lovely, slightly busy dinner service but again great service. The food was incredible as was the dessert…we had pasta dishes, and i was definitely not hungry this time.I went again last year for their lunchtime service. I admit was tempted to walk straight back out as the person greeting us walked away a few seconds later without a word, then a server came and seated us. The server looked after us really well and I didn't see the first person after this. The following year, a friend of mine was visiting me from the North East of England after many years apart, so to celebrate we went to Fifteen. I had no idea what to expect, neither did she. Turns out, the food was incredibly delicious, we did have two servers which was odd- both were attentive and offered advice to suit our diets, so I guess it doesn't matter…the bartenders were also pretty friendly when we arrived actually. My main had smoked salmon eggs and it was the first time I had ever eaten them. Really surprising. In a good way, I promise. What i remember the most was my dessert. I can only describe it as a chocolate playground on my plate…it was so gorgeous, frankly I wish they still did it so I could go back just for that.I have been back to Fifteen in November 2017. I may have come across a bit rude to the servers, I did apologise but as ever they were professional and forgiving, service was great and my friend who had never been to any of ‘those' restaurants was shocked at how good the food was and the restaurant staff.So…..I dunno, maybe I'm getting special treatment or something?…I suppose great service and food doesn't imply that a business isn't in freefall, but …

Is fast food really bad for health?

Yes very. It is probably the most unhealthy food in the world. If you ever notice, most fast food from MCD, BK, CJr etc consists of deep fried pieces of meat slabbed between 2 pieces of bread. Though burgers are generally not unhealthy (cos you can make delicious and healthy home made ones), you never know what goes inside the beef patties so thats another negative point.

In addition, fries are quite a nightmare. Deep fried again in oil, they are every nutritionist's nightmare. I'm not too sure about this but i heard that if you light up a medium fries, it can burn for a few minutes. That itself sounds scary. Someone could probably try this and let us know the results?
With all the fried stuff, trans fat will inevitably be present. Trans fat= disaster for the body.

Watch Super Size Me. Interesting and real account of the damage fast food can do to your body in such a short time.

Would you eat at a restaurant that was really dirty if the food was amazing?

For many people, what they don’t know doesn’t hurt them. The term “filthy” doesn’t mean that something hasn’t been soaking in bleach and is no longer biological compatible with microbial life forms.A lot of restaurants during a rush will sometimes neglect things like sweeping and wiping down the make line. These areas can look like a bomb went off and be accurately described as filthy, but still produce wares not only delicious but fit for human consumption. The goal of cleaning or even deep cleaning a restaurant isn’t to get the floors so clean you can eat off them because that would in most cases be prohibitively expensive and invasive for the customers who would also have to be cleaned in order to maintain a floor like that. The goal then is to strategically manage risks while maximizing sales. Think of a steakhouse with peanut shells on the floor. They don’t usually make people sick because you’re obviously not picking up dirty peanut shells and putting them on plates. There are clean zones that certain foods at certain times are allowed to touch which are sanatized more thoroughly than the dishes straight out of your dishwasher. Any food that leaves these clean zones is not allowed back in.A raw steak falls on the floor?Throw it away, don’t worry about mopping up the grease everyone here has antislip shoes. Go get another one and prep it.Healthcode inspections are serious, and even things you wouldn’t consider that have roughly an snowcones chance in hell could potentially under perfect storm conditions make someone who happens to be dying of aids, sick.I don’t mean to speak lightly of such things, but the level of knitpickery of your average health inspector would make someone with germophobia step back and say “chill man.”Rest assured that if a restaurant is consistently making people sick they’re going out of business.
