Is hydraulic fracturing good or bad?
I have to write a paper for my English class about hydraulic fracturing. In the essay we're supposed to state whether we're against or support it. My professor provided us articles to help us come up with a position. At first I wanted to go against it but then I read the articles and some of them said that there is no evidence that "fracking" destroys the environment. So now I'm not sure whether to go against it or support it. I need three reasons as to why I'm against it or support it. Any ideas?
How does hydraulic fracturing (fracking) work and produce electricity?
Fracking does not produce electricity directly. Fracking allows oil wells and gas reserves to be unblocked so the oil or gas can be brought to the surface. Obviously, the fuel that is produced through fracking can be used to power an electrical generating station.
