Is this dandruff or something else?
Get it checked by your doctor. In the meantime, buy the strongest dandruff shampoo you can find and also buy Povidone Iodine. Mix the two when you're going to wash your hair and be generous with the Iodine. Don't use conditioner on your scalp. Use it on the ends of your hair only. Good Luck.

i bought curl locking hairspray&root lifting sray of that brand two weeks ago and use it daily, it gave me soooo much dandruf and i've nevr had any before its big and white and i have jet black hair so its geting bad, im not gona use it anymore though ......anyways i wash my hair everyday and the dandruff never goes away what do i do???????????????????????

Well for a few years now I have terrible flakes, and I have spots that are an inch or so in diameter on my head that are a white or yellow colour and it's nothing but this flaky spot, it's so gross. And it itches, so I have this tendency of picking at them. If I just scratch my head at all it gets rather obvious in my hair. I can't shower much (water heater's been broken for over a year, no money to fix it). So maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know. And it tangles up my hair so badly, I can barely get the tangles out. And it;s itched so bad that on more than one occasion I scratch so much it starts to bleed. And if I get done working out or swimming and my hair and scalp are all wet then it's even more gross because the flakes mix with the water and I get a weird wet gross, white/yellow stuff. One time I went to get my hair cut and the lady said my head looked like hers does when she has a flare up and she has psoriasis of the scalp, but I don't know, looking at the description, I don't think that's what I have, since the patches aren't ever read and don't spread past my hairline. Are these built up white/yellow flaky patches just dandruff or something else?

If dandruff treatments are not working then you do NOT have dandruff. You have something else. Get to a doctor for prescription strength shampoos and scalp lotions. In addition to dandruff the scalp can also suffer from allergic dermatitis, eczema, seborrhea, psoriasis, and more. Each require a specific treatment: eczema medicine does nothing for psoriasis, stuff for sebborhea does nothing for allergy problems, and so on. You need to find out what exactly is going on and treat the real problems.
My scalp is bleeding from dandruff?
For about a year, I have had SEVERE dandruff or something else but a few nights ago, I was picking at the dandruff in the back of my head and then it started bleeding a lot! I'm only 11 and I'm scared to tell my mom....When she puts the hair products on my head it burns and when I take showers I try to avoid the places with dandruff....I NEED HELP OR SOME KIND OF ADVICE!!!
Does dandruff ever go away?
I have shampoo that takes care of it, and I've been using it for about 5 years now, but as soon as I try something else, I end up with dandruff, usually about 8 hours after taking a shower.
