Why is poetry important in general?

I don’t have anything in particular to say about the poem, but when talking about the importance of poetry, I felt compelled to include it because the poem as it exists itself is important and a thing of beauty.I’m not particularly well versed in the study of poetry, or even literature on the whole. I read books, I read poems, I come up with my own ideas, but it is for the joy of it, not academic exercises (I realise the two can be one and the same).So, as such, it wouldn’t be for me to write about the importance of poetry from an academic standpoint. I could try, but I wouldn’t do it justice, and points I might highlight would be far better found in books on poetry, or even here on Quora.Instead, I will simply talk about why poetry is important to me, and therefore why it might be important to you.To me, poetry is using condensed language to tell a story. It distils feelings down to their rawest state, compressing the language and displaying it in an almost formulaic manner.It causes your perspective to shift and your interpretations to mutate. Feel things more intensely. It goes beyond the seemingly human capacity to write or perceive or paint it, to the point that it reaches across from your soul to the soul of the poet.It’s that feeling that gives poetry its inherent importance.
What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you at work or in class?
Unforgettable embarrassment I was in 12th class. It seemed like any other day. We were in the physics class and the teacher was trying to make us understand magnetic field lines.He was in his 30s with weird hairstyle and was quite popular among the students.We were half asleep and were getting bored, then out of nowhere came the PT teacher for checking as he had got some information from his "reliable" sources that some boys of our class had brought mobile phones to the school.All of a sudden, both the teachers started checking the bags and pockets of the boys.After checking few of my classmates our physics teacher came to my desk. I was sitting with my very-good friend who was a studious, introvert, shy guy and one of physics teacher's favourites. At first he was unwilling to check him because he knew him well and liked his behaviour very much, but then he did his duty but in vain.Then he found his wallet which was of different kind with a metal chain coming out of it and had an attractive tattoo. He kept it just out of curiosity.The search was over and our PT Teacher left the class empty handed. Now this Physics teacher went to the lecture stand with the wallet and started taking all the things out of it.Then he was stumbled upon a phone number diary of my friend. And on the first page and in bold letters was written BULL-DOG.He chuckled and passed a smile to my friend and read that name loudly in the class. Teacher, looking at my friend :- BULL-DOG hahahahahahaha. Who's nick name is this? Who in the class is BULL-DOG? Raajan you? ABC you? No one? So tell me who's number is this?Class was silent .Then he read the number loudly, written in front of BULL-DOG. And he was dumbstruck."Arre yeh toh mera number hai"(Oops this is my number.)That was his number.The whole class bursted into laughter. And my friend was trying to hide his face under the desk.The bell rang and he left the class leaving that wallet on the stand.And this friend of mine bunked the next few physics lecture.Now if you ask how this incidence is embarrassing for me? Well, i was the guy who gave him that name. P.S - We (teacher and I) are still in contact and still remember and enjoy this incidence).
Why do you hunt? Does the killing of the animals bother you in any way?
Hunting is an entirely natural and necessary part of the ecological order, when conducted in a reasonable fashion.Deer are a great example. In many areas of the United States, deer lack any major natural predators. There are not sufficient populations of wolves, bears and mountain lions to regulate the overall deer herds in those areas.The result of banning hunting in these areas can be quite horrific from all perspectives. Deer are a very fast breeding species. Without adequate culling, they will quickly overwhelm their habitat, consuming every piece of vegetation from the ground to their highest reach into trees.They will literally wipe out local flora, endangered or otherwise. It's called a browse line and looks like this.This isn't hypothetical. I watched it happen in a state park near my home town. Under pressure from poorly informed environmental groups, deer hunting was banned in the park.Within five years, the herd had eradicated all of the low vegetation. Within seven years, skeletal deer corpse became a normal part of the hiking experience.Imagine seeing several of these everytime you go for a picnic at the park.The point is this.You are doing deer no favors by not hunting. It may seem that way, but it's true. Death and predation are an entirely natural part of their world.By refusing deer a bullet to the brain, you are merely consigning them to a horror show of slow starvation.Efforts are under way in many states to reintroduce apex predators to these areas to naturally regulate deer populations, but these are slow and difficult.Until that transition is complete, hunting will be necessary.
