Is It Just A Stomach Bug

Could it be C.diff? or just a stomach bug..?

Since you were already nauseated when you left your OB/Gyn's office and could not have had a chance to fill the prescriptions or start taking the meds, it could not have been the clindamycin or Augmentin causing it. I think the nausea, along with the pain, are connected with whatever is going on. An abdominal ultrasound should have been done in the ER you went to the first time and in the ER where you work the second time.

It's possible that the combination of antibiotics is causing its share of GI upset and diarrhea (common adverse reactions) but you didn't give a frequency for the meds, just dosage amounts. But it seems a bit soon to be having med-related symptoms but then again I don't know how many times you'd taken the antibiotics before this started.

Was your OB/Gyn aware before she wrote for clindamycin & Augmentin that you are already taking doxycycline? The Prozac is irrelevant in this case. Make sure your PCP is aware of what's transpired. If you need to be seen, you'll be told. And contact your OB/Gyn and find out what the antibiotics are for. You need to know why you're putting these drugs in your body.

"Could it be C.diff? or just a stomach bug..?" -- And no, I don't believe you have a C. diff infection and if it were viral gastroenteritis, the antibiotics will be of no help. However, I don't believe it's that either. A bi-manual is a pelvic exam. This exam isn't used to diagnose intestinal disorders.

Can you get the same stomach bug twice?

Yes it is.
To be honest it can carry on and on if you don't manage to clean up the traces left around on the most innocent things - door handles - just under the table surface, computer keyboard - and worse still - if your tooth brush is in the bathroom - did you know that one flush can send the germs about 6 feet - landing on anything available. This is why its a good idea to close the lid before flushing - but the bugs still land under the loo seat so hand washing is paramount.

Suggest you get some antibacterial/ virus spray cleaner and get a method of cleaning doing from one room to another wiping and cleaning - and use your imagination.

Someone I know always washes the curtains after a bout like this but it seems a bit OTT - I guess it depends on how sick you were and how much you want to avoid it happening again. AND... don't forget the fridge - not just the handle - the side of the doors.

Can you catch a stomach bug just by being in the same room/breathing the same air as someone?

I have spent a lot of time researching this because of my own phobia and recent exposure. I came across a report written by an MD that lists the ways you can get it. Getting it through the air is one of the least likely ways to get it BUT there is a difference between sharing breathing air with that person and breathing air that has been exposed to vomit and stool - there are droplets in the air. So I would try to use a different bathroom than her and have her clean the bathroom surfaces (counter, floor, toilet, shower, doorknobs, light switch, etc.) with a bleach-based cleaner or 1 part bleach diluted in 10 parts water. She is contagious until at least 3 days after the last incident, so be very careful during that time and wash your hands before eating, preparing food, or touching your eyes or nose. Don't eat food she prepares and it is best if she just stays out of the kitchen in general. According to the CDC website, one is contagious at the moment they start to feel sick, not before they are sick, so you still may be in the clear.

Can I get stomach flu twice?

Gastroenteritis is not the same as influenza and may have many different causes. Vomiting or diarrhea is often caused by contaminated food or a viral illness. It is unlikely you would get the exact same viral illness in close succession, but if your digestive integrity is compromised, it is more susceptible to pathogenic microbes in general making your immune system compromised.Over 80% of our immune system can be attributed to our gut/digestive health so I would focus on addressing diet changes and replenishing beneficial bacteria (probiotics) so you can decrease the chances of future illness.

Indigestion after Stomach Bug?

If you are normally a healthy person, you should start feeling better after a week and ought to get your healthy digestive system in two weeks. In the meatime, I'd eat some easily digestable foods, so that your weakened stomach desn't have to work hard or damage the lining of the stomach. Anytime you have a virus invasion in your digestive tract, it takes a while to return to normal. 24-48 hour is about the right duration of a stomach bug.

Should it last longer or you don't get better, you might seek a medical help, just make sure there's no other problem.
Hope you get your healthy stomach back soon !!:):}

4 month old , stomach bug , help?

Ok

Stomach bug with no vomiting?

Honestly yes, some people are more prone to fighting off "stomach bugs" without vomitng and diarrhea, depending on the source. So you're 9hrs into it, but progressively feeling worse..."stomach bugs" (which by the way, I don't have a problem with the wording or "stomach Flu"...when it comes down to treatment, it's all the same, medical terminology acute gastroenteritis...same diff) generally hang around 24-48hrs, so important thing during that time frame is sugar for the brain and fluids to prevent dehydration which can make the stomach bug that much worse. If you're not vomiting and having diarrhea, just feeling nausea...go easy on your diet. Clear liquids (soup broth, jello, gatorade, sno-cones/frozen crushed gatorade cubes) if you are starving and able to tolerate the above...think bland (dry toast, saltine crackers, chicken soup). Avoid irritants (alcohol, caffeine, milk products, citrus, fatty foods). Over the Counter anti-nausea medications are available (Meclizine, Dramamine, Emetrol) to name a few. If you do develop vomiting small frequent sips of clear liquids (above) to provide sugar for your brain, which it needs to function and enough fluids to keep you hydrated without losing it secondary to vomiting. If diarrhea develops, again clear liquids and if tolerating by mouth; bananas, rice, applesauce, toast (BRAT diet) to help bind things up a bit or Immodium or Pepto Bismol OTC. Hopefully this will pass soon, rest up, stay hydrated and give your stomach/intestines a break with the above diet suggestions as needed.
If your condition worsens...localized pain, uncontrolled vomiting, fever, bloody stools, vomiting blood, increased dizziness/fainting see your doctor.
