Is This My Wisdom Tooth Growing In

My wisdom tooth is growing?

How old were you when your wisdom teeth started to grow and how long do these take? Is it normal for your gums to swell when this happens? I'm 22 and my wisdom teeth are growing. My gums hurt a lot and these have been slowly growing since a year ago.

Wisdom tooth growing inward?

Yes it needs to be removed, if you don't get it taken care of will eventually become a problem. If you wait until it hurts it may have already caused permanent damage to the tooth in front of it. Proper care of teeth includes removing wisdom teeth at around 18-21 years old. Some people don't need them removed but your description sounds like trouble.

Another Tooth Growing Behind Wisdom Tooth?

It can a supernumary tooth(an extra tooth in the arch because of a tooth developmental anomaly). You have to ungergo a thorough clinical examination to find out what exactly is bothering, may be a intra oral x-ray or a OPG). You'll be fine with medications until you make it to a dentist. NSAID's like diclofenac should work against pain. It's just a tooth, take it easy :-)

Im 13, are my wisdom teeth growing in?

Im female btw. In the very back of my mouth at the bottom, my gums are hurting like hell(! where your wisdoms grow) And when i actually go to feel it to see if i have like a cut or something ( which i dont ) there's this little dent on both of the gums ( you know kind of like how our teeth are shaped ) and it's really sore and I don't know. I don't think i have an infection or anything. But they've been hurting since a couple of months ago. And i know the average age for them to grow in for girls os around 16- and older. Could i be getting them early? (And sorry if i misspelled anything, i'm on my phone )

Im 13 and my wisdom teeth are growing?

Ok, before you panic about wisdom teeth growing etc, lets go back a step. you mention that you are 13, so its not that likely that it is in fact your wisdom teeth that are growing. You need to look inside your mouth using a mirror, or have someone look inside for you. On the back part of each side of the jaw you should have 2 molar teeth (these are the big teeth that we chew with). At the age of 13, it is more likely that the 2nd of these molars is actually coming through, whether your baby teeth are still there or not. It sometimes take a little while for these baby teeth to fall out if the adult tooth doesn't come up directly under the baby tooth.
In the rare event that you can clearly see these 2 big molars that I was talking about & you have a tooth coming up behind it, well yes that could be your wisdom tooth, however it is not unusual for wisdom teeth to come up & go down over your teenage years. For some people who have jaws large enough to accommodate wisdom teeth, they will often come through into the mouth around 17-21 years of age approximately. A lot of people don't have room for wisdom teeth or they are found to be lying on their sides under the gums. If they cause no problems, there is no need to be concerned about them. A Dentist will only be concerned about your wisdom teeth, if they are causing you pain, or they try to erupt, but cant because of their positioning in the jaw, or if thee gum area is being traumatised, but only a Dentist can determine the best course of action for you. After all they are the people who have spent those years learning at University about dental care etc. I am only giving my advice from my years of experience nursing in this industry, so take it only as advice, not a diagnosis.

Is it possible that my wisdom tooth is growing after the age of 40?

The chronological age of eruption is 18–25 years for the wisdom teeth.Due to lack of space your wisdom tooth failed to erupt at that time and now a small tip must have been visible. This is given you an impression of tooth erupting. Please visit your dentist, have a radiograph and get it removed. This is to avoid any harm to your 2nd molar, a functional tooth. Secondly If it was to erupt it had come at its specified age.Being an oral surgeon my advise is always aggressive (in favor of surgery) whereas my other colleagues of conservative dentistry always advise of saving even a wisdom tooth as long as possible as & I disagree with them.

I am 31 and have my wisdom teeth growing. Why is it growing now for me and it's very painful?

The third molars are usually formed and erupted by the age of 18, give or take a year or so. The timing depends on the growth and development of the individual. If the teeth are not in at that time they are either congenitally missing or impacted. There are various classes of impactions. The ones you are concerned with are soft tissue impactions and partial bony impactions.Soft tissue impactions are fully erupted teeth but partially covered with gum tissue. This is because the dental arch is longer than the space available for the teeth. The tissues in the back of the mouth rise with the jaw bone leaving the back of the tooth covered with soft tissue.[1]Partial bony impactions are teeth that come in at an angle and get caught behind the second molar. They cannot achieve full eruption. If the tooth structure is open to the mouth, the gum will cover a significant portion of the exposed structure.[2]In both cases, it is the gum partially covers the tooth. Food debris may become caught underneath the flap of gum and/or plaque may form on on the exposed tooth structure. This forms a localized low grade infection in the gum around the tooth structure. It is called pericoronitis or inflammation around the crown.Pericoronitis feels just like an erupting tooth. The flap of skin is soar and the tooth underneath the gum tissue may poke up into the swollen gum tissue. This is the pain you experience. It may come and go periodically or may develop a more general infection. The treatment is to remove the tooth.Footnotes[1] Tooth Extraction[2] Treatment : Third Molars / Wisdom Teeth

Is it healthy to have a wisdom tooth growing at age 14?

Yes that's totally normal, I got all my wisdom teeth out this year and I'm fifteen, and the top ones weren't in yet but the bottom ones were growing in a long time ago little by little. They told me that yes you usually get them seventeen to twentyfive but that getting them young was okay. You should really get them out ASAP. I had good teeth because I had dentalwork done and even the little bit of wisdom tooth I had growning in screwed up my bottom ones.
The answerer above me was very wrong. My bottom teeth were not fully grown before I had them out, and the top ones weren't even emerged at all. The dental surgeon cut them out from inside my gums and apparently it's even easier than pulling them. Be sure you get a good dental surgeon and he was very good, I was totally put out while he did it and I only felt woozy for a little while afterwards. The next day I was doing everything I normally would have done, and I had no bruising or pain at all! I only had to take my painkillers the first day. All in all, it was a great experience!
And yes, four wisdom teeth do grow eventually. You may get your bottoms grown before your tops as I did, but if you leave it yes you will get 4.

My wisdom tooth is growing but it only hurts when I chew. Does that mean its growing properly?

When any tooth is coming in, there will be pressure as the tooth grows into a space that was previously just soft tissue. When you chew, you have an opposing pressure which will cause the pain. That alone is not a sign of further trouble however, you need to see what is happening below the gum line to make an informed diagnosis on the state of your tooth. The only way to do that is with an x-ray.If the tooth is not overly bothering you then you could wait til your next regular maintenance visit to the dentist and get them to take an x-ray then. That way you will have peace of mind regarding your wisdom tooth.Lisa.
