Left Hand Is Shaking Really Bad

Left hand tremors/ shaking in a 16 year old male?

Although you are young to develop Parkinson's disease, it is always possible.

In your case, you are correct, the early PD tremor usually occurs when the body is at rest or when under heavy stress.

The tremor you describe is most likely an intention or action tremor.

Not knowing your caffeine intake, if you drink a lot of diet beverages, your exercise regimen,, any prescriptions or over-the-counter medications, nor your stress level it would be difficult to say.

Just remember that all of us experience this type of tremor from time to time.

Although you indicated that the tremor occurs randomly, why not keep a journal? Indicate when the tremor occurs, what you were doing before it began (just reaching for the glass is not what I mean) if you had ingested anything (food, meds, drugs, beverages) recently. Does it occur when you are stressed, tired, have not eaten recently? And of course, any other symptoms.

You may be perfectly healthy and are simply experiencing normal glitches. The human body can be complicated and occasionally misfire. On the other hand if anyone in your family as a history of Essential Tremor, you might want to pursue this with your doctor.

My left hand keeps shaking?

Not at all necessarily serious, especially just one occurrence like this. Yours may disappear soon and not return

The medical term for this is "essential tremor."

It can start in one hand or foot, and may stay there. It may expand to other limbs. It may stay as a mild shake, or may get worse, or as I said, just go away. It can be a symptom of an issue like Parkinson's disease--that's what people think of first, or nervousness. (See "Saving Private Ryan.") In most cases, it's neither Parkinson's or anxiety. Most people with an essential tremor never have it worse than what you have. In about half the cases, it's due to a genetic mutation.

If the tremors increase and become severe, to the point where you are having more difficulty functioning, there are neurological evaluations and medications you can get. But from this point, in day one/first occurrence, that's not likely to be necessary, so I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying over it. Just keep an eye on it.
