Me Answer These Math Problems

Can there be more than one right answer on a math problem?

Though I have a math degree, I’m not the best to answer this as I’m certainly not a math expert. As far as I know, there is only one “correct” answer (OK, there may be an infinite number of correct answers but all mathematicians will arrive at the same set) in a purely mathematical sense but where there is great divergence is in how we treat this one answer. For example, …Many risky sports are really “expected value” propositions though they often aren’t thought of in that sense. You, as the athlete, assess your probability of successfully completing the activity, then weight it against the upside and downside rewards. Uli Emanuele’s winged suit flight pretty well illustrateshow two people with the same skill level could do the math on expected value and even with the same inputs, get different outputs. I don’t know what he thought his chances were but let’s just assume 99% success rate. Complete it, you’re the first to do this particular feat, you get it off your bucket list, you get a youtube video with 8.5M hits, you become a legend in your sport, and possibly more. And the 1% downside? You literally become a splot on a rock. If I had exactly the same skills as Uli, that 1% would dominate my decision. I’d assign a value of about minus infinity to it and would sit around the computer and watch Uli’s amazing flight. He clearly understood the consequences of a fail but either he didn’t assign the same consequences to death that I would or he valued the upside (times 99%) more than the 1% risk of becoming a smear.Bottom line for this question is I believe mathematics is only going to give one purely mathematical outcome but when exposed to the real world, this outcome may not appear the same to different people.

1. Find the length of Highway 1
2. How long is Highway 4?

Why is it bad to check the answer before solving a math problem?

It is much easier to confirm a given result than it is to solve one yourself.If you look at the answer before you start working on it, you will already know where you are supposed to end up. You might be tempted to take short-cuts to get there. Crucially, you will not learn some of the necessary steps you need to solve a new problem where the answer is not available to you (on a test, or on a project when you have to solve a math problem in real life or your future job).If you try really hard to solve it, try different techniques, look at the problem from different angles, and then are still stuck, then you could have a look at the answer, and see why the approaches you tried did not work. Try to understand what techniques would work better and try to get a good grasp on what types of problems you can solve with what techniques.That’s going to help you learn a lot better than just looking at an answer and saying: “ah yes, that makes sense, I could have solved it that way too, let’s look at the next question and answer”. That approach works when you read the reading sections of your text book, but not for the exercises. They are there for a purpose.

This sounds like someone's homework. Let's do volume first as you've pretty much got the answers already there. The first one is just like you have it - 6x2x4. 6 times 2 = 12 times 4 = 48 so.... 48 cubic "somethings" - feet, inches, meters, whatever your measurements are. Same for the rest. Just multiply your three figures. That's your cubic measurement.

The surface area requires just a bit more thought. You've got a box 6x2x4. If you look at a box there's six sides. In this case two of them are going to be 6x2, two will be 2x4, and two will be 6x4. Make sense? Take a box (any box) and measure it. Then measure each side. You'll have two each of your three different lengths.

So.... 6x2 = 12 times 2 sides = 24 sq ft (we'll assume the measurements were feet)

2x4 = 8 times 2 sides = 16 sq ft

6x4 = 24 times two side = 48 sq ft.

48 + 16 + 24 = 88 sq ft of total surface area.

Can anyone please answer these 3 math problems for me??????

Mr. Edwards painted 10 1/2 hours total or 21/2 hours. If we say (21/2) /3 we get 7/2 hours or 3 1/2 hours per day.

1/6 + (3/5 of the remaining which is 5/6 * 3/5 = 1/2) = 1/6 + 1/2 = 1/6 + 3/6 = 4/6 = 2/3

20 * j when j = 2 3/5, again 2 3/5 = 13/5 20 * 13/5 = 4 * 13 = 52

Just relax, fractions are not as hard as your teacher told you, they are just another number with their own set of rules. You can do this.

Can you please help me answer this tricky math problem using elimination or substitution method?

Since we are talking about income, we are only talking about the interest the investment makes, so you get the following set of equations:

1. .08x + .10y = 2400
2. .08y + .10x = 2640

and
3. .08x + .10y + .08y + .10x = 5040
we work with No. 3 to get the following:
.18x + .18y = 5040
x + y = 5040/.18
x + y = 28000

Now, on 3. we solve for x and we get:

4. x = 28000 - y

We insert this 4. into 1. and get:

.08(28000 - y) + .10y = 2400
2240 - .08y + .10y = 2400
.02y = 160
y = 8000 (investment 2 equals 8000)

This answer (y = 8000) is used to get the value of x in 4.:

x = 28000 - y
x = 28000 - 8000
x = 20000 (investment 1 equals 20000)

So the amount of the investment is 20,000 and 8,000.

Good luck!
