I have received email saying I have added mobile number to my yahoo account. However I did not add or change the number recently. Secondly I do not recognize the number it is showing in email. How can I delete my phone number in my yahoo messenger? I keep getting sent to a web page with a bunch of apps?
I want to remove my phone number from my messenger, so in my messenger menu, I go to "Preferences," "Mobile," and then I click on "Edit Mobile Number..." but it sends me to www.mobile.yahoo.com which is a page with a bunch of yahoo apps. Not a page where I can edit or delete my number! I had done this before a few years ago, and I was able to delete, but not anymore. Has anyone been able to delete their number recently?? If so, tell me how! ;-)

So, it implies that you still have that account in your phone.When you stopped using your previous number, the service provider reactivated it and it was sold to another person. Meaning that someone else has your previous number, the same number that you had used to activate the whatsapp account running on your phone.Now, you are in a dilemma of what will happen to your account.With regard to all these, different scenarios are possible. i will briefly discuss each.SCENARIO 1I will assume that you still have that whatsapp account in your phone. So, when the person who now has the line decides to open a whatsapp account in his/her phone, a problem will rise. He will be informed that you cannot use one number to verify two accounts (since the number was already used to verify your account and its still active).SCENARIO 2I will assume that you have changed the whatsapp account. Let’s say you uninstalled the it, then installed a new one and used it to verify your new account. When the other person (who has the number) decided to open a whatsapp account, he/she will get a notification that a back up is available (if you had backed up or set automatic back up). However, since he/she does not have your email logins (the back up is stored in your gmail account), he/she will not be able to retrieve the backup, thus he/she wont be able to access your previous chats.
