My Cartilage Piercing Still Hurts After A Week What

Cartilage piercing is hurting after a week...?

So i got this cartilage piercing at the top of my ear, the guy said it was like a forward helix on the upper part of my ear (if that makes sense) and he pierced it with a hoop. Sooo now ot has been a little bit less than a week (six days i believe) and it's still somewhat swollen and very sore. I dont know if its infected but it seems to be healing alright besides that, like it isnt gooey or bloody or crusty... What should i do to stop the pain and swelling. I've been cleaning it out everyday and doing salt soaks but idk.. Would it be safe for me to change it to something more comfortable after only a week days (the guy said it'll he fully healed around 3-6 weeks so idk)? All help is graatly appreciated thanks

Cartilage piercing? 3 weeks?

Hunny, I would wait 3 months before taking things in and out of it. Cartilage piercings get irritated sooo easily. My industrial piercing stopped being swollen after a week, it was still a bit tender by week two, but I didn't fuss with it too much. Stop fussing with the damn thing. lol. Also, you should be cleaning it with Sea Salt Soaks and antibacterial soap, if you're not and want to know the proper drill feel free to shoot me an email.

Cartilage piercing still hurts after 9 weeks?

I got my cartilage pierced at Claire's 9 weeks ago and I took it out last night to clean it and there was a bump and when I would try to put the same piercing back in, it got stuck and I had to make a lot of force to put it back in. When it finally got in, it started bleeding A LOT and after I saw all the blood I fainted.. I cleaned it twice everyday for 6 weeks... Now it's 9 weeks and it just hurts... When I put the piercing in, the bump doesn't show.. It only shows when i take it out.. Btw I used the gold type.. The most expensive one.
Why is this happening?

Ear Cartilage Piercing hurts again after 2 weeks?

I think you should be just fine. I experienced the same thing and never had an infection, so just keep cleaning it really well. It is still in the major healing stage, and I'd recommend not sleeping on it and being gentle with it for the next couple of weeks. Don't touch it unless your hands are clean, and like I said, make sure you're rinsing it with salt water at least twice a day so it's really clean! Your cartilage doesn't get as much blood flow as your earlobe, so it's more susceptible to infection.

If you start oozing pus, don't worry- that is still normal!! It is just cleaning out bacteria and dirt. However, if you experience throbbing pain, bleeding, swelling, redness, pus formation, and extreme heat, go see a doctor. Cartilage ear piercings can be serious, and lead to ear deformities (or worse)! (And when I say extreme heat, I mean that you can hold your hand an inch or so off your ear, and feel the heat from it. If you can, yeah, I'd say it's infected.)

From what you described, I really doubt it's infected. You don't have any symptoms at least. But you're the ultimate judge! If you have a bad feeling about it (at this stage, you don't really have a reason to) go see a doctor! Better to be safe than sorry.

EDIT: Oh, and for future reference, I would not suggest getting multiple piercings at the same time, especially in the same ear! That often leads to infection. Just so you know! (:

Cartilage piercing still hurts after 5 months?

i got my cartilage piercing in the beginning of august. i got it done professionally, they did not use a gun. but i know the place was clean and everything. i cleaned it with the anti bacterial soap like they told me to and after about 8 weeks i changed it from the hoop that i got it pierced with, to a stud. but it has been 5 months and it still hurts like crazy to touch it of to sleep on it. is this normal? is there anything i can do? will the pain ever stop?

My cartilage piercing still hurts after 3 months?

I got my cartilage pierced back in July. It's October now and my piercing still hurts. I got it pierced with a gun. And the other day me and my friend were play fighting over a dollar and she bumped my ear and it hurt really bad. Anyone have an idea on how long this might take. I'm kinda careless with the piercing. I sleep on that side of my face all the time and I twist it and only clean in like twice a week. Will this affect my healing process?

Why does my cartilage piercing still hurt?

I got the top of my ears pierced (both sides) around 2 weeks before christmas '08, and they still feel sore a little. I already changed my earrings from what they originally were (i used real diamond studs) I can twist and rotate my earrings like im suppose to but I cant take them out because it hurts (only one ear hurts, the other one is fine.) My ears look fine and I dont have an infection, so why does it still feel sore?

Cartilage piercing is hurting so bad!!?

I got my cartilage pierced last week, but it hurts still! It's swollen to where the bar can't move apart from twisting it around! It's red, warm and has a slight throbbing pain to it. What should I do?
i'e been able to sleep on the pierced ear since day 4 with no pain from the pressure. Could this have contributed to the pain?
I would really like professional advice because I feel it's gonna make the problem more easier if proper piercers help out.

It is a simple cart piercing done with a needle and I use sss for it.

I literally just had to loosen the ball off and try and squeeze some pus out but nothing came ou and I nearly cried.

It took me 15 minutes to try and get the ball back on because the area became so sore and swollen that I had to kneel down and take a bunch of deep breaths before trying again!
The bar is so short now that it is not moving at all! I can' t see any bar and I just cleaned and found blood!

It is throbbing so mich right now. It's making my ear look deformed from the amount of swelling!

Please help me!
