My Minecraft Server Won

What are some good specs for a minecraft server?

Thanks for the A2A!So I am the head admin and co-owner of my server. The reason behind the “co-owner” is that I am not a great programmer and I know very little about computer specifications. However, I did speak to the other co-owner of my server. He’s a savvy programmer and an overall intelligent person. He actually had a few scenarios with different required specs. In the case of a LAN server with few people, you only need about 3 gb of RAM and about 200 mb of free storage for backups and saves. He suggested an Intel Core 2 Duo, as well as a solid internet connection. This is all you need for a simple LAN server.Larger servers require a bit more juice. Our server only features about 20 constant players, so we do not actually know much about larger servers. I can point you in the right direction for information, fortunately! In addition to extra google research, the Minecraft Wiki page is a solid source of information. You could also choose to rent server space from a provider. There are many choose from so you can find a reasonable price and maybe charge people when they join or take donations for ranks.Feel free to check out my building guide in my blog, and if you are interested in additional help, I encourage you to request more answers from me and I can find relevant information! Here are some rental sites:Apex Minecraft HostingBisect Hosting

My minecraft server won't go online?

you will need to open ports on your router to allow outside traffic in to your network. have a look at portforward.com

How do you port forward a Minecraft server?

This is just expanding off the question, I have set up a port forward with my arris router. I used 25565–25565 for an inbound port, Type = both, Used my private Ipv4 address with ipconfig, and have a local port option which I put as 25565–25565. I have downloaded a sky factory 3 server and was hoping it would work. I can join my own server using the local ip, but the port won’t show on sites like can you see me, and my friends can’t join it using the my public ip address. I can’t figure out what to do anymore and am just considering wether I should just buy a server or give up on my dreams. Any help would be “helpful”, thank you for your time :/

How can I make myself admin on my minecraft server? Also how can I make a friend VIP?

Configure the server by editing the server.properties (Use this link to see how it works). Windows may not recognize it, so tell it to open with any word processor (such as Notepad or Notepad++). The server should run fine from the default values.

Add your username to the admin.txt and/or ops.txt (newer versions may not have an admin.txt file). Admin.txt allows you to execute server commands, and op privileges allows you to destroy/place blocks. Add the name exactly as it is. From the server gui, you can type "op " and it will automatically update the ops.txt file

My Minecraft server won't let me admin myself?

If you're using a bukkit server install the GroupManager plugin and then you can make yourself a Owner, Admin, Builder or whatnot.

Hope this helps

Minecraft server won't let others connect?

localhost is the ip of the machine you are using, so if your brother uses other computer where the server isn't installed, then localhost won't connect to anything. The solution, give your brother the IP Address of the computer where the MC server is installed.

Make sure the firewall of the server computer isn't blocking MC.

I'm assuming both computers are in the same network (not on Internet).

What steps should I take to start my own Minecraft server where players are invite-only?

First of all I'd like to tell you that unless you know hundreds of people who play Minecraft and are close to you, your server will not be very popular, so don't bother putting it on server lists. So if making a popular server is your goal, don't make it invite only. If you just want a private server to play on with friends, read onFirst get some friends to play on the server with, talk about what gametype you want.Next, either host the server on your computer (Won't be able to handle more than a few players at a time, and won't be up 24/7) or get a dedicated server from a Minecraft hosting company.Make sure you enable whitelist in your server.properties. Simply add the players names that you want to allow to join in the whitelist.json file.Restart your server. That's pretty much it.
