My Subwoofer Keeps Cutting Out At High Volume

Amp is cutting out at high volume?

ok i have 2 kicker l7's and an alpine 2000 watt amp. stock battery and alternator. i know i have them wired right i have 4 guage wire on my power and my ground. all the connections are good no blown fuses i have them wired down to 2 ohm and the amp is 2 ohm stable at 2000 watts. when i turn my volume up to above 30 it starts to cut out when hard bass hits. im curious if this is a power issue or something else my headlights dim to but i figure thats just the drain from the battery. im curious on how to solve this problem like i was debating on getting one of the yellow top optima batteries and replacing my stock but im not sure if that would help. well any advice would be appreciated

Why do my subwoofers keep cutting out?

Alright so last year i installed 2 type-s Alpine subwoofers and a 1000 max watt Kenwood amplifier into my Honda Civic. For a year basically i used to be able to turn it up as loud as possible with no issue then recently i can hardly turn it up without the bass cutting out due to the subwoofer cutting out. I tried to upgrade it to a 1500 watt amp but it basically had the same reaction. I was thinking of now upgrading to a 4000 watt monoblock power acoustik amplifier and i was wondering if one, would power acoustik be a suitable brand, and two could it be an issue with my wiring cables?

My subwoofer keeps cutting out.?

I just got an amp and subwoofer installed in my car about a month ago. A little back story: I had an amp in the car and the person I bought it from said it was good to connect an amp too. Well he lied. The amp that was in the car was for the speakers only. I went and got another amp and 1 subwoofer. It was working perfectly fine until about now. It now cuts out when I'm driving and sometimes comes back in on it's own. It's only the sub not working. Also. I don't have it mounted so my friend thought it might be the wires but I checked those. The only other thing I can think of is the wires inside the box. We had it running and we were picking up the box and moving it to test it and it would cut in and out.

Subwoofer cutting out at high volume?

I have a 600 watt 4 channel Sony Xplode Amp that I was using to power a 500 watt Kicker Comp, but it kept cutting out at high volumes. I thought it was because the sub was older (the amp is brand new, but the sub is a couple years old) but even after replacing the sub it has the same problem. I think it might be because of the gauge of speaker wire I'm using, but I need more suggestions. Before you ask, the amp does not blow, the light color does not change, and the cables from deck to amp are all secure. The only issue could be between the sub and amp (or battery I suppose but the battery is hardly a year old). My friend suggested I check my ground, but in that case how do I make sure it's securely grounded? Thanks

Kenwood subwoofer amp cuts out (shuts off) when the volume is high and the bass hits hard. Why? Automatic cut?

One ? is the gain over 1/2 then there is ya problem. Kenwoods will shut-off if there is alot of distortion or the amp is overtaxed. I would also have ya charging system looked @ because some amps will shut off if less then 9V DC are going to them.
You never should have the gain over 1/2 unless entering a SPL event for burping the subs.

Why does my subs cut out when i turn the volume on my stereo up? It only does it when i turn it up over half way. Any advice? :(?

I recently bought a new car (Toyota Corolla 2014 S) and had best buy install them for me and whenever i try to turn my music up loud my subs cut out and the come back a few seconds later. I have 2 12 inch kicker Comp R subs with a Kicker 1200.1 Amp (Sorry i don't know all of the specs on them). I talked to Bestbuy and they said that my radio is doing it as a form of protection? Can anyone please help me? I don't want to end up buying a brand new radio and everything that is required to install it.

Why does my amp cut off at high volume bass?

Ive got 2 Kenwood KFC-HQ718 speakers and a Pioneer TS-WX301 sub hooked to a Kenwood KAC-8404 amp... the system was working fine up until a week ago...the problem is when i raise the volume above half, it works fine... but as soon as heavy bass kicks in, the amp cuts off for a few seconds then comes back on... n it keeps doing this if the heavy bass continues... ne suggestions on wht the problem is as its really annoying me :/

Why does my sub cut out when i turn the volume up?

Yep, a combination of what two answers were said here already. Check the wiring of the sub itself, if it is wired in series, then that is not the problem. Or your gain could be set too high, or a bad ground.

Steps:

1) turn the gain down on your amp (especially bass boost, that stuff KILLS subs)
2) blare the volume PAST where the sub normally cuts out, if it's still alive, congrats, your gain was too high, you're done.
3) if the sub still cuts out try steps 1 and 2 again
4) check the wiring of your subwoofer (explained above)
5) if the wiring is still in series, and the gain is down, and the sub still cuts out, then you might have a bad ground, make sure you are connected to bare metal, if you're bolted into the trunk somewhere, take the paint off at that location, if you're connected to the negative terminal on your battery, be happy you haven't died yet in a car fire. the BEST place to ground an amp is directly to the frame of a vehicle, so if you can swing that, go for it, otherwise, just find bare metal that isn't part of the outer body work (under the trunk carpet is a good idea)
6) if after all that it still doesn't work, get a volt meter and check that your battery is holding a charge at the level you play your music
7) Still no dice? your amp or sub is bad. if thats the case, email me on here and i'll help you figure out which one.

Kicker amp cuts off at high bass?

Sparky is mostly right, but the LPF and SSF setting might be a little off. The LPF depends on how low your front speakers can get. Most of the front speakers are good for down to about 80hz (while still sounding good), so you set the LPF to around 80hz. Anything above that anyways isn't going to be very audible by your subwoofers anyways. After all, a subwoofer IS a SUBwoofer, meant to play low frequencies and not high frequencies.

Your SSF depends on your box. If it is sealed, you can turn it off and not even have a SSF. If it is ported, it is good to set it at 10hz below the tuning frequency. So for example, you have your ported box tuned at 34hz, so the SSF would be good to set it at around 24hz.

The SSF is mainly used to not damage your speakers. The LPF is used mainly to make it blend with your front stage.
